8 ± 0.3 in OP1 to 3.0 ± 0.1 in OP3 and mean carcass weight was 432.71 ± 40.82 kg. No severe health problems occurred. The feeding activity of the bulls was spread out over the course of the day with peaks in the afternoon and evening. Percentages of bulls feeding per pen never exceeded 20%, animals feeding mostly alone (during 28.04 ± 2.15% of total observation time) or in groups of two to three (16.61 ± 2.00% and 6.74 ± 1.90%). The order of bulls feeding after feed delivery varied indicating that all animals had similar access to fresh feed. These results emphasize the importance of constant feed availability and quality at any time of the day, thus indicating the ability of an AFS with six daily feedings to ensure such a consistency. However, the detailed effect of probiotics on porcine intestinal development, especially in the early life, is still unclear. In this study, we treated 3-day-old newborn piglets with Lactobacillus reuteri (L. reuteri) D8 and observed its beneficial effect on piglets. The body weights, villus height, and crypt depth of jejunum were all significantly increased after L. reuteri treatment in piglets. L. reuteri also significantly increased the proliferation index of PCNA+ cells in the crypt, as well as c-Myc and Tcf4 expressions. Furthermore, L. reuteri also enhanced intestinal mucosal barrier with the increase of goblet cells and antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) expressions of Muc2, Lyz1, and pBD1. The well development of Peyer's patches and increased number of CD3+ T cells, combined with increased expression of IL-4 and IFN-γ, also demonstrated the immune stimulation effect of L. reuteri D8. This study demonstrated that L. reuteri promotes the development of intestine mucosal system and maintains intestinal mucosal barrier in newborn piglets. Recent studies in Spain have demonstrated that vaccination with a heat-inactivated Mycobacterium bovis vaccine (HIMB) successfully protects captive wild boar and red deer against progressive disease. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of two oral vaccines against TB in a badger model the live-attenuated M. bovis bacillus Calmette-Guérin BCG vaccine (Danish strain) and a HIMB vaccine. Twenty-four badgers were separated in three treatment groups oral vaccinated with live BCG (108 CFU, n = 5), oral vaccinated with HIMB (107 CFU, n = 7), and unvaccinated controls (n = 12). All badgers were experimentally infected with M. bovis (103 CFU) by the endobronchial route targeting the right middle lung lobe. Throughout the study, clinical, immunological, pathological, and bacteriological parameters of infection were measured. Both vaccines conferred protection against experimental TB in badger, as measured by a reduction of the severity and lesion volumes. Based on these data, HIMB vaccination appears to be a promising TB oral vaccine candidate for badgers in endemic countries. The aim of this study was to identify high-risk areas of CSF and the risk factors associated with the disease occurrence in the Pinar del Río province, one of the prioritized areas in the eradication strategy. The outbreak occurrence at district level was analyzed through a 7-year period (2009 to 2015). A high-risk cluster (RR = 5.13, 95% CI 3.49-7.56) was detected during the last 2 years of the study period in the eastern half of the province, with 38 out of 97 districts included. The rate of CSF-affected holdings had a significant increase during 2014-2015 and seems to have occurred mainly in the high-risk cluster area. Swine population density by district (heads/km2) and road length (km) by district were associated with the disease outbreak occurrence. These results provide new insights into the knowledge of the epidemiology of the disease in Cuban endemic conditions and can contribute to improving the control and the eradication strategy in this situation.

A linear quadratic regulator-type reward function is proposed to achieve a balance between system performances (convergence speed and tracking accuracy) and control efforts. Simulation results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy for the 2-DOF robotic eye.In the 60 years since the invention of the laser, the scientific community has developed numerous fields of research based on these bright, coherent light sources, including the areas of imaging, spectroscopy, materials processing and communications. Ultrafast spectroscopy and imaging techniques are at the forefront of research into the light-matter interaction at the shortest times accessible to experiments, ranging from a few attoseconds to nanoseconds. Light pulses provide a crucial probe of the dynamical motion of charges, spins, and atoms on picosecond, femtosecond, and down to attosecond timescales, none of which are accessible even with the fastest electronic devices. Furthermore, strong light pulses can drive materials into unusual phases, with exotic properties. In this roadmap we describe the current state-of-the-art in experimental and theoretical studies of condensed matter using ultrafast probes. We focus, in particular, on the prospects for its high temperature NDR, UV photodetector, field emission emitters, photocatalyst and optical information storage for a wide range of new optoelectronic applications.Bound states in the continuum (BICs) are ubiquitous physical phenomena where such states occur due to strong coupling between leaky modes in side lossy systems. BICs in meta-optics and nanophotonics enable optical mode confinement to strengthen local field enhancement in nonlinear optics. In this study, we numerically investigate second-harmonic generation (SHG) in the vicinity of BICs with a photonic structure comprising one-dimensional nanogratings and a slab waveguide made of lithium niobate (LiNbO3, LN). By breaking the symmetry of LN nanogratings, BICs transition to quasi-BICs, which enable strong local field confinement inside LN slab waveguide to be supported, thereby resulting in improving SHG conversion with lower pump power of fundamental frequency (FW). With a peak intensity of 1.33 GW cm-2at the FW, our structure features a second-harmonic conversion efficiency up to 8.13 × 10-5at quasi-BICs. We believe that our results will facilitate the application of LN in integrated nonlinear nanophotonic.Several national regulations and good international practices promote the existence of a central register with the results of individual radiological monitoring. In the majority of the countries (Latin American region), dosimetry data were neither harmonized, nor managed by a unique database, therefore the possibility of using such data, for proper characterization of the radiological conditions, integrally at national level, in a territory or a sector, and by practices or occupational categories, was very limited. All these considerations justified the need for developing a prototype of National Dose Register (NDR) for Latin America. The main objectives were the strengthening of safety supervision in nuclear applications and the surveillance system for occupational exposure as well as the centralization of personal dosimetry data, compiling all doses evaluated by the different dosimetric service providers. Concomitant use of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) may negatively affect the efficacy of anticancer drugs such as fluoropyrimidines in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC). The primary objective of this study was to assess whether there is an association between concomitant PPI use and survival outcomes in patients with CRC treated with a fluoropyrimidine-based chemotherapy.

A secondary analysis of 6 randomized controlled clinical trials in patients with advanced CRC was conducted using individual patient data through data-sharing platforms. The outcome measures were progression-free survival and overall survival in PPI users and nonusers. Subgroup analysis included the type of chemotherapy, capecitabine versus 5-FU, line of therapy, and addition of a vascular endothelial growth factor receptor inhibitor. Overall pooled hazard ratios (HRs) with 95% confidence intervals were calculated using a random effects model.

A total of 5,594 patients with advanced CRC across 6 trials and 11 trial arms were included; 902 patients were receiving a PPI at trial entry and initiation of chemotherapy.

Cybaeota Chamberlin Ivie, 1933, a genus previously known only in the Nearctic, has been found in the Maritime Province of Russia for the first time. It is represented by a new species, C. wesolowskae sp. nov. (♂♀), which is close to the generotype, C. calcarata (Emerton, 1911). Additionally, a new species, Phrurolithus lindemanni sp. nov. (♀), is described from the Maritime Province as well. It has unusually light colouration in comparison to other congeners. Trans-Pacific disjunctive ranges on species, genus and family levels in arthropods are briefly discussed.The Filistatinae genus Sahastata Benoit, 1968 is distributed in arid and semi-arid areas, from westernmost Sahara to India, and includes seven known species. Four of these are only known from one sex, including Sahastata nigra (Simon, 1897), the type species. Here we present the first description of a male of this species collected near the type locality in Muscat, Oman. Additionally, two new species are described S. wunderlichi sp. nov. (♂♀, Morocco) and S. wesolowskae sp. nov. (♂♀, Oman). Sahastata infuscata (KulczyÅ„ski, 1901) is newly recorded from Kenya and Yemen and S. nigra is newly recorded from the United Arab Emirates. DNA barcodes are given for S. nigra and the two new species. We observed some details of the life cycle of three Sahastata species, including clutch size, time to maturation, and a biased sex ratio for individuals raised from egg sacs, indicating that only 20-25% of specimens reaching adulthood are males. We provide SEM images of spiders of this genus, some observations on the morphology of spinnerets and male palps, and a distribution map of the species included in the genus.Three new Indian species of Stenaelurillus Simon, 1885 are diagnosed, illustrated and described S. indicus sp. nov. (♂♀, from Andhra Pradesh), S. tettu sp. nov. (♂♀, from Andhra Pradesh), and S. wandae sp. nov. (♂♀, from Odisha). A lectotype (♂) for S. lesserti Reimoser, 1934 from India is designated. A new record of S. lesserti from Andhra Pradesh and comments about its presence in Sri Lanka are provided. The localities of all the described and recorded species is mapped.The genus Ranops Jocqué, 1991 was only known from three species so far. Three new species of the genus are described here R. robinae sp. nov. (♂♀) from South Africa, R. tharinae sp. nov. (♂♀) from Botswana, and R. wandae sp. nov. (♂♀) from Namibia. Its distribution is discussed and a distribution map for all the Ranops species is provided. Ranops expers (O.P. Cambridge, 1876) does not belong to Ranops and is transferred back to Zodarion Walckenaer, 1826.There are 44 species and subspecies of the genus Alopecosa known in Europe, and 13 of them have so far been listed as occurring in Poland. Alopecosa sulzeri (Pavesi, 1873) is a xero- and thermophilic species distributed in the western Palearctic. In Europe, it occurs primarily in the south-east, while it is rare in Central Europe. Between 2007 and 2013, we recorded the species in the central-eastern, north-western and south-western parts of Poland. The sites of A. sulzeri in Poland are located at the northern limit of the geographic range of the species in Europe. Alopecosa sulzeri was caught at four sites in three regions, exclusively in xerothermic grasslands in the Podlasie Bug Gorge, the Lower Oder Valley and the Trzebnickie Hills. The sites may be relict, or they may provide evidence of the spread of the species from sites located in neighbouring countries. Further spread of stenotopic, xerophilous A. sulzeri in Poland, if continued, is likely to be a slow process, due to the limited number of suitable habitats.The Afrotropical spider genus Parabomis KulczyÅ„ski, 1901 is revised. Members of Parabomis are some of the smallest thomisids known, and occur from Eritrea in the north of Africa to South Africa in the south, but are absent from Madagascar. Additionally, Sarinda glabra Franganillo, 1930, Descanso montanus Bryant, 1943, D. formosus Bryant, 1943 and D. magnus Bryant, 1943 are transferred to Peckhamia and provide new combinations, P. glabra comb. nov., P. montana comb. nov., P. formosa comb. nov. and P. magna comb. nov.. Peckhamia glabra is stated as a nomen dubium. Diagnostic illustrations and a distribution map are provided for the new species.Five new species of thiodinines are described Atomosphyrus wandae sp. nov. The objectives of this two-phase study were to (1) identify the incidence of improper ETT cuff inflation (both over- and under-inflation) using the minimum occlusive volume (MOV) technique coupled with a regular injectable syringe in the anesthetized dogs, and (2) evaluate the performance of two commercially available inflation syringe devices (Tru-Cuff and AG Cuffill®) with the regular injectable syringe in inflating the ETT cuff to a recommended safe cuff pressure range (20-30 cmH2O). The aim of this study was to identify high-risk areas of CSF and the risk factors associated with the disease occurrence in the Pinar del Río province, one of the prioritized areas in the eradication strategy. The outbreak occurrence at district level was analyzed through a 7-year period (2009 to 2015). A high-risk cluster (RR = 5.13, 95% CI 3.49-7.56) was detected during the last 2 years of the study period in the eastern half of the province, with 38 out of 97 districts included. The rate of CSF-affected holdings had a significant increase during 2014-2015 and seems to have occurred mainly in the high-risk cluster area. Swine population density by district (heads/km2) and road length (km) by district were associated with the disease outbreak occurrence. These results provide new insights into the knowledge of the epidemiology of the disease in Cuban endemic conditions and can contribute to improving the control and the eradication strategy in this situation.

We focus, in particular, on the prospects for its high temperature NDR, UV photodetector, field emission emitters, photocatalyst and optical information storage for a wide range of new optoelectronic applications.Bound states in the continuum (BICs) are ubiquitous physical phenomena where such states occur due to strong coupling between leaky modes in side lossy systems. BICs in meta-optics and nanophotonics enable optical mode confinement to strengthen local field enhancement in nonlinear optics. In this study, we numerically investigate second-harmonic generation (SHG) in the vicinity of BICs with a photonic structure comprising one-dimensional nanogratings and a slab waveguide made of lithium niobate (LiNbO3, LN). By breaking the symmetry of LN nanogratings, BICs transition to quasi-BICs, which enable strong local field confinement inside LN slab waveguide to be supported, thereby resulting in improving SHG conversion with lower pump power of fundamental frequency (FW). With a peak intensity of 1.33 GW cm-2at the FW, our structure features a second-harmonic conversion efficiency up to 8.13 × 10-5at quasi-BICs. We believe that our results will facilitate the application of LN in integrated nonlinear nanophotonic.Several national regulations and good international practices promote the existence of a central register with the results of individual radiological monitoring. In the majority of the countries (Latin American region), dosimetry data were neither harmonized, nor managed by a unique database, therefore the possibility of using such data, for proper characterization of the radiological conditions, integrally at national level, in a territory or a sector, and by practices or occupational categories, was very limited. All these considerations justified the need for developing a prototype of National Dose Register (NDR) for Latin America. Concomitant use of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) may negatively affect the efficacy of anticancer drugs such as fluoropyrimidines in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC). The primary objective of this study was to assess whether there is an association between concomitant PPI use and survival outcomes in patients with CRC treated with a fluoropyrimidine-based chemotherapy.

A secondary analysis of 6 randomized controlled clinical trials in patients with advanced CRC was conducted using individual patient data through data-sharing platforms. The outcome measures were progression-free survival and overall survival in PPI users and nonusers. Subgroup analysis included the type of chemotherapy, capecitabine versus 5-FU, line of therapy, and addition of a vascular endothelial growth factor receptor inhibitor. Overall pooled hazard ratios (HRs) with 95% confidence intervals were calculated using a random effects model.

A total of 5,594 patients with advanced CRC across 6 trials and 11 trial arms were included; 902 patients were receiving a PPI at trial entry and initiation of chemotherapy.

Cybaeota Chamberlin Ivie, 1933, a genus previously known only in the Nearctic, has been found in the Maritime Province of Russia for the first time. It is represented by a new species, C. wesolowskae sp. nov. (♂♀), which is close to the generotype, C. calcarata (Emerton, 1911). Additionally, a new species, Phrurolithus lindemanni sp. nov. (♀), is described from the Maritime Province as well. It has unusually light colouration in comparison to other congeners. Trans-Pacific disjunctive ranges on species, genus and family levels in arthropods are briefly discussed.The Filistatinae genus Sahastata Benoit, 1968 is distributed in arid and semi-arid areas, from westernmost Sahara to India, and includes seven known species. Four of these are only known from one sex, including Sahastata nigra (Simon, 1897), the type species. Here we present the first description of a male of this species collected near the type locality in Muscat, Oman. Additionally, two new species are described S. wunderlichi sp. nov. (♂♀, Morocco) and S. wesolowskae sp. nov. (♂♀, Oman). Sahastata infuscata (KulczyÅ„ski, 1901) is newly recorded from Kenya and Yemen and S. nigra is newly recorded from the United Arab Emirates. DNA barcodes are given for S. nigra and the two new species. We observed some details of the life cycle of three Sahastata species, including clutch size, time to maturation, and a biased sex ratio for individuals raised from egg sacs, indicating that only 20-25% of specimens reaching adulthood are males. We provide SEM images of spiders of this genus, some observations on the morphology of spinnerets and male palps, and a distribution map of the species included in the genus.Three new Indian species of Stenaelurillus Simon, 1885 are diagnosed, illustrated and described S. indicus sp. nov. (♂♀, from Andhra Pradesh), S. tettu sp. nov. (♂♀, from Andhra Pradesh), and S. wandae sp. nov. (♂♀, from Odisha). A lectotype (♂) for S. lesserti Reimoser, 1934 from India is designated. Cambridge, 1876) does not belong to Ranops and is transferred back to Zodarion Walckenaer, 1826.There are 44 species and subspecies of the genus Alopecosa known in Europe, and 13 of them have so far been listed as occurring in Poland. Alopecosa sulzeri (Pavesi, 1873) is a xero- and thermophilic species distributed in the western Palearctic. In Europe, it occurs primarily in the south-east, while it is rare in Central Europe. Between 2007 and 2013, we recorded the species in the central-eastern, north-western and south-western parts of Poland. The sites of A. sulzeri in Poland are located at the northern limit of the geographic range of the species in Europe. Alopecosa sulzeri was caught at four sites in three regions, exclusively in xerothermic grasslands in the Podlasie Bug Gorge, the Lower Oder Valley and the Trzebnickie Hills. The sites may be relict, or they may provide evidence of the spread of the species from sites located in neighbouring countries. Further spread of stenotopic, xerophilous A. sulzeri in Poland, if continued, is likely to be a slow process, due to the limited number of suitable habitats.The Afrotropical spider genus Parabomis KulczyÅ„ski, 1901 is revised. Members of Parabomis are some of the smallest thomisids known, and occur from Eritrea in the north of Africa to South Africa in the south, but are absent from Madagascar. Background In Cuba, no screening program for cystic fibrosis (CF) has been implemented yet. The ultramicro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (UMELISA)® TIR NEONATAL has been developed for the measurement of immunoreactive trypsin (IRT) in dried blood spots on filter paper. The analytical performance of the kit was evaluated in the national network of laboratories. Methods Newborn dried blood samples (DBS) were evaluated in 16 laboratories. An IRT/IRT/DNA protocol was followed using a cut-off value of 50 ng/mL. The mean, median and percentiles of the distribution were calculated and a two-sample t-test with unequal variance was used for statistical analysis. Influence of perinatal factors on IRT levels was analyzed. Results From January to June 2018, 6470 newborns were studied, obtaining a mean IRT value of 12.09 ng/mL (ranging 0-358 ng/mL) and a median of 8.99 ng/mL. Fifty-two samples (0.78%) were above the cut-off level and 16 samples (0.24%) were elevated in the re-screening process. One of them was confirmed positive by molecular biology (phe508del/c.3120 + 1G > A), constituting the first newborn screened and diagnosed early in Cuba. Second DBS samples were collected on average at 14 days and processed in the laboratory at 16 days of birth. Significant differences were observed (p  less then  0.05) when evaluating the influence of gender, birth weight (BW) and gestational age (GA) on the IRT values. Lower IRT concentrations were found in samples processed after 10 days of collection. Conclusions The performance of UMELISA® TIR NEONATAL in the laboratories has been satisfactory; hence CF newborn screening (NBS) was extended throughout the country from January 2019.BACKGROUND Despite the prevalence of mobile health (mHealth) technologies and observations of their impacts on patients' health, there is still no consensus on how best to evaluate these tools for patient self-management of chronic conditions. This intervention focuses on bringing snippets of the lives of the grandparents into the grandchildren's social media feed and analyzing the potential effect on relational quality, relational investment, and conversational resources from the perspective of the grandchildren. METHODS the process, instruments, and technological setup. We continued the study after the validation, and 59 pairs of participants (59 grandparents and 59 grandchildren) have been recruited. The data collection was completed in November 2019. CONCLUSIONS The results of this study will contribute to strategies to stimulate social interactions in intergenerational pairs. A validation of the study process is also presented to provide further operational recommendations. However, since current EHRs mainly focus on lowering the number of paper documents used, they have suffered from poor search function and reusability capabilities. To overcome these drawbacks, structured clinical templates have been proposed; however, they are not widely used owing to the inconvenience of data entry. OBJECTIVE This study aims to verify the usability of structured templates by comparing data entry times. METHODS A Korean tertiary hospital has implemented structured clinical templates with the modeling of clinical contents for the last 6 years. As a result, 1238 clinical content models (ie, body measurements, vital signs, and allergies) have been developed and 492 models for 13 clinical templates, including pathology reports, were applied to EHRs for clinical practice. Then, to verify the usability of the structured templates, data entry times from free-texts and four structured pathology report templates wucturing all the items included in the templates. CONCLUSIONS The increase in initial elapsed time led users to hold a negative opinion of SDE, despite its benefits. To overcome these obstacles, it is necessary to structure the clinical templates for optimum use. Now these authors have been able to develop a process with which the highly invasive xerophyte prosopis (Prosopis juliflora) can be vermicomposted. But does prosopis vermicompost (PVC) have any fertilizer value, given that prosopis has strong allelopathy and toxicity? To seek an answer, the authors have assessed the effect of the PVC on the germination and early growth of five common food plants brinjal (Solanum melongena), chilly (Capsicum annuum), cucumber (Cucumissativus), ladies finger (Abelmoschus esculentus), and tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum). Thereafter the tomato and the brinjal plants were grown to fruition to assess their yield and nutrient value. Whereas no germination of any seed occurred when the soil was fortified with prosopis leaves, there was 20-100% germination of seeds in different plant species when fertilized with equivalent quantities of PVC. The carbohydrate, potassium, and magnesium contents of prosopis fertilized brinjal and tomato fruits were significantly (p ≤ 0.5) higher than the levels of these nutrients present in the market produce. The prosopis vermicompost displayed pest-repellant attributes as well. The findings indicate that the millions of tonnes of prosopis leaves, which have no utility value and of which falling on earth is harmful to the soil, can be used to generate organic fertilizer.Trace elements (TEs), rare earth elements (REEs), and methylmercury (MeHg) concentrations as well as mercury (Hg) and lead (Pb) isotope compositions in sediment samples collected from strategic locations along the Caribbean Sea were determined. The analyzed sediment samples were collected at different core depths from localities in Colombia, Cuba, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic. The evaluation of pollution assessment indices i.e. enrichment factors and geoaccumulation index revealed significant enrichment of several priority substances, such as Pb, Cd and Hg, in most of the sampling sites. Hg was found in extremely high concentrations (up to 22 ± 3 mg kg-1) in bottom samples of Colombian core, which led the authors to further investigate this area with respect to the source for Hg contamination. The analysis of Hg isotope ratios in Colombian sediments and the Pb isotope ratios in all studied cores, helped in the identification of likely pollution sources and represents a critically important record of anthropogenic influence in the region. Finally, the REEs patterns determined in all samples, also provide a needed baseline for these contaminants in the Caribbean region.An eco-friendly BiFeO3-MnO2 composite with dual functionalities of adsorption and catalysis was successfully constructed by using a simple one-step hydrothermal method for the removal of bisphenol A (BPA) pollution from water. Several characterization methods, including X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), were applied to verify the combination of BiFeO3 and MnO2. BiFeO3-MnO2 (BFO-MO) exhibited excellent adsorption and catalytic activity compared with those of pure BiFeO3. The adsorption process followed a pseudo-second-order kinetic model and matched the Langmuir isotherm model. Effects of the catalyst and peroxymonosulfate (PMS) concentrations, pH and real water matrix were also analyzed, and BFO-MO displayed perfect adsorption and degradation performance under different conditions. Meanwhile, mineralization performance was tested, and the total organic carbon removal rate was nearly 85%. Moreover, BFO-MO exhibited good stability and reusability after five cycles. Based on radical quenching experiments, SO4- and OH were the primary reactive species responsible for BPA oxidation, and the possible reaction mechanism of BFO-MO/PMS was proposed. Concentrations of all the 15 antibiotics, especially chlortetracycline, were detected in the F0 ovary and F1 eggs after treatment, indicating maternal transfer of antibiotics. Impaired F0 growth (average 2.2 % and 24.3 % inductions in body length and ovary weight, respectively), and reduced F1 offspring survival (average 4.2 % reductions in survival at 120 hpf) was observed after maternal exposure to the 100 μg/L treatment. Pathway analyses of whole-transcriptome expression profiles from F0 ovaries predicted colorectal disorders. Similarly, pathways of F1 larval transcriptomes from treated females also predicted colorectal disorders along with intestinal apoptosis and oxidative stress, which may be related to growth impairment.
