Peri-operative macroscopic margin assessment with standard intraoperative specimen radiography (IOSR) results in improved re-excision rates in excised breast tissue specimens but is limited. This study sought to improve the intraoperative margin assessment on standard IOSR techniques by utilizing noninvasive X-ray micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) imaging of breast tissue specimens to compare margins in three-dimensional with two-dimensional IOSR.

Patients with impalpable breast carcinoma, or suspected breast carcinoma, who were eligible for breast-conserving surgery were recruited. Margins were assessed within each specimen using standard IOSR, micro-CT, and histology techniques.

Six malignant and three benign lesions were included for the analysis in this study. Micro-CT identified the same positive margin as IOSR in 3 out of 6 malignancies. However, margin status identified by micro-CT was concordant with pathological assessment in only one specimen. In comparison, margin assessment by IOSR correctly correlated with pathological margin status in three malignant specimens.

The use of micro-CT imaging in this study did not improve margin assessment in impalpable breast specimens when compared to standard specimen radiography (SR) assessment. However, future improvements in sample preparation and CT image acquisition processes may enhance the potential of micro-CT as a valuable imaging tool for improving margin assessment.

Women in developing countries usually delay in presenting their symptoms as a part of the early diagnosis program. This study was conducted for analyzing the reason of patient's delay and its relation with socioeconomic and health conditions, knowledge, and women's belief about breast cancer (BC).

This study used a cross-sectional design in the early detection center in Kurdistan (North Iraq). Women were interviewed about socioeconomic and health background, knowledge, and belief about BC.

The median of patient delay in the BC symptomatic women in this study was higher (30 days) as compared with developed countries. Patient delay was longer in women who were widows, had a barely self-perceived economic status, and had chronic diseases. There was a significant relationship of patient delay with women's health motivation and perceived barrier to seeking medical care.

Epithelial cell adhesion molecule (EpCAM), a type I transmembrane protein of the epithelial tissues and known cell adhesion molecule, has been demonstrated to have critical role in carcinogenesis. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/Aloxistatin.html In breast cancer, EpCAM expression has been associated with poor prognosis. The expression pattern of EpCAM across molecular subtypes of breast carcinoma has been studied in patients reporting to a South Indian multispecialty tertiary care hospital. The prognostic significance of EpCAM expression pattern and probable response to therapy has also been addressed.

EpCAM expression was assessed by immunohistochemical studies on 200 breast carcinoma tissue samples of different molecular subtypes, including luminal A, luminal B, Her2Neu, and triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). The expression was scored using the standard scoring system. A correlation was drawn with detailed clinicopathologic annotation and available outcomes data to analyze the influence of EpCAM on prognosis.

EpCAM expression varied significantly in the different intrinsic subtypes of breast carcinoma. Differential expression was also established with different grades of breast carcinoma with varying levels of differentiation. We observed strong EpCAM expression in TNBC among other subtypes.

The differential expression of EpCAM among intrinsic subtypes of breast cancer and the correlation of EpCAM expression with high-grade breast carcinoma shown in the study have important implications in understanding the role of EpCAM and might form the basis for developing targeted therapies in breast cancer in the future.

Breast cancer (BC) is the most common cancer in Indian females. The irradiation of internal mammary lymph nodal area (IMLN) is recommended by latest guidelines and literature, even in patients with N1 nodal disease, but it is not routinely done in many institutes due to the risk of late lung and heart toxicities. The incidence of isolated IMLN recurrence <1%. The incidental radiation therapy (RT) dose to axillary lymph nodal area (ALN) could result in lower local recurrences according to literature. The aim of this study is to assess the incidental IMLN area RT dose in patients treated with forward planning intensity-modulated RT (FIF-IMRT).

The aim of our study is to evaluate the RT dose received by IMLN area incidentally in FIF-IMRT and is a single-institute dosimetric study. The patients planned for RT after breast conservation surgery (BCS) or modified radical mastectomy (MRM) were evaluated for IMLN incidental dose.

The mean doses to IMLN area (D
) were comparable to literature for both BCS and MRM patients. All other dose parameters (D95, D90) in our study were slightly lower but comparable to literature for the FIF-IMRT planning. Interestingly, the incidental IMLN RT doses in our study are in the same range as the incidental ALN RT doses studied in the literature (48%-68%).

The new mutants, namely, the slr1-d7 and slr1-d8 lines, are valuable semi-dominant dwarf alleles with potential application value for molecule breeding using the CRISPR/Cas9 system in rice.Seventy-eight graviera cheese samples produced in five different regions of Greece were characterized and discriminated according to geographical origin. For the above purpose, pH, titratable acidity (TA), NaCl, proteins, fat on a dry weight basis, ash, fatty acid composition, volatile compounds, and minerals were determined. Both multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) and linear discriminant analysis (LDA) were applied to experimental data to achieve sample geographical discrimination. The results showed that the combination of fatty acid composition plus minerals provided a correct classification rate of 89.7%. The value for the combination of fatty acid compositions plus conventional quality parameters was 94.9% and for the combination of minerals plus conventional quality parameters was 97.4%. When cheeses of the above five geographical origins were combined with previously studied graviera cheeses from six other geographical origins collected during the same seasons in Greece, the respective values for the discrimination of geographical origin of all eleven origins were 89.3% for conventional quality parameters plus minerals; 94.0% for conventional quality parameters plus fatty acids; 94.1% for minerals plus fatty acids; and 95.2% for conventional quality parameters plus minerals plus fatty acids. Such high correct classification rates demonstrate the robustness of the developed statistical model.The rare genus Ducrosia (Apiaceae family) consists of six species, which are mainly native to Asia, specifically to Iran and Iraq. The aerial parts of D. anethifolia, as the most common species, have been traditionally consumed to relieve headache, backache and colic pain, and have also been used as an anxiolytic, an antidepressant, and for treating insomnia. The antispasmodic and carminative effects of D. assadii, and the analgesic activity of D. flabellifolia, along with the insecticidal activities and use as a remedy of skin infections of D. ismaelis, have been previously documented. Among the 49 non-volatile secondary metabolites identified from D. anethifolia and D. ismaelis, 17 linear furanocoumarins and 8 flavonoids have been characterized. The essential oil compositions of four species, including D. anethifolia, D. assadii, D. flabellifolia and D. ismaelis, have been analyzed, whereby aldehyde hydrocarbons, including decanal (10.1‒74.0%) and dodecanal (7.2‒33.41%), and α-pinene (4.0‒70.3%), were identified as the main aroma constituents. In this study, we investigated the in vitro biocompatibility of the printed RESOMER® Filament LG D1.75 materials as well as the osteogenic differentiation of human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) cultivated on 3D printed constructs under the influence of different medium supplements (FCS, human serum (HS) and hPL). Additionally, the in vitro degradation of the material was studied over six months. We demonstrated that LG D1.75 is biocompatible and has no in vitro cytotoxic effects on hMSCs. Furthermore, hMSCs grown on the constructs could be differentiated into osteoblasts, especially supported by supplementation with hPL. Over six months under physiological in vitro conditions, a distinct degradation was observed, which, however, had no influence on the biocompatibility of the material. Thus, the overall suitability of the material LG D1.75 to produce 3D printed, resorbable bone implants and the promising use of hPL in the xeno-free cultivation of human MSCs on such implants for autologous transplantation have been demonstrated.Electrical discharge machining (EDM) is an advanced machining method which removes metal by a series of recurring electrical discharges between an electrode and a conductive workpiece, submerged in a dielectric fluid. Even though EDM techniques are widely used to cut hard materials, low efficiency and high tool wear remain remarkable challenges in this process. Various studies, such as mixing different powders to dielectric fluids, are progressing to improve their efficiency. This paper reviews advances in the powder-mixed EDM process. Furthermore, studies about various powders used for the process and its comparison are carried out. This review looks at the objectives of achieving a more efficient metal removal rate, reduction in tool wear, and improved surface quality of the powder-mixed EDM process. Moreover, this paper helps researchers select suitable powders which are exhibiting better results and identifying different aspects of powder-mixed dielectric fluid of EDM.One of the primary current astrobiological goals is to understand the limits of microbial resistance to extraterrestrial conditions. Much attention is paid to ionizing radiation, since it can prevent the preservation and spread of life outside the Earth. The aim of this research was to study the impact of accelerated He ions (150 MeV/n, up to 1 kGy) as a component of the galactic cosmic rays on the black fungus C. antarcticus when mixed with Antarctic sandstones-the substratum of its natural habitat-and two Martian regolith simulants, which mimics two different evolutionary stages of Mars. The high dose of 1 kGy was used to assess the effect of dose accumulation in dormant cells within minerals, under long-term irradiation estimated on a geological time scale. The data obtained suggests that viable Earth-like microorganisms can be preserved in the dormant state in the near-surface scenario for approximately 322,000 and 110,000 Earth years within Martian regolith that mimic early and present Mars environmental conditions, respectively.

However, brain RAS is an independent form of RAS expressed locally in the brain, which is known to be involved in brain functions and disorders. There is strong evidence for a major involvement of excessive brain angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE)/Angiotensin II (Ang II)/Angiotensin type-1 receptor (AT-1R) axis in increased activation of oxidative stress, apoptosis and neuroinflammation causing neurodegeneration in several brain disorders. Numerous studies have demonstrated strong neuroprotective effects by blocking AT1R in these brain disorders. Additionally, the angiotensin converting enzyme 2 (ACE2)/Angiotensin (1-7)/Mas receptor (MASR), is another axis of brain RAS which counteracts the damaging effects of ACE/Ang II/AT1R axis on neurons in the brain. Thus, angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs) and activation of ACE2/Angiotensin (1-7)/MASR axis may serve as an exciting and novel method for neuroprotection in several neurodegenerative diseases. Method Male mice aged 4-5 weeks and weighing about 22-35 g in Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital are divided into three groups sham group, collagenase intracerebral hemorrhage model (cICH + Vehicle) group and collagenase nicotinamide mononucleotide (cICH + NMN) group. Then, the intervention therapy research is carried out. After 24 h, the neurological function, brain edema, hematoma volume, body weight, hemorrhage volume, RNA expression level, apoptosis, inflammatory factors and reactive oxygen species (ROS) content in surrounding tissues of mice are analyzed comprehensively. Results Compared with the other two groups, nicotinamide mononucleotides in MCAO model have significant effects on improving neurological function, brain edema, inflammatory factors, body weight and cell apoptosis in mice, but have no significant effect on hemorrhage volume and hematoma volume in mice. Conclusion Nicotinamide mononucleotides can significantly improve the collagenase-induced intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) model in mice under MCAO model, and they can protect the brain tissue of mice from RNA level to tissue cell level or mouse body weight and volume level. © 2019 The Author(s).This study investigated the in vitro antioxidant, proapoptotic and anti-proliferative activity of phycocyanin extracted from Ulva lactuca (Chlorophyta) algae extract loaded on albumin nanoparticle (ULANP). The characterization of ULANP profile was done by using FTIR and its cytotoxicity was investigated by using MTT assay against HepG2 and MCF7 cell lines. The proapoptotic markers caspase 8 & 9 were measured. Analysis of ULANP by FTIR showed the characteristic band (2100 cm-1 ~3700 cm-1) that is indicated primarily by -COO, -CO and conjugated double bond. It is promising as a novel antitumor activity for further investigation the mechanistic pathways mediated this action. © 2020 The Author.A fast and simple technique is proposed for the detection and quantitative determination of six non-polar pesticides including pyrethroids (cypermethrin, deltamethrin), organochlorines (hexachlorobenzene, α-hexachlorocyclohexane) and organophosphorus (chlorpyrifos, fenitrothion) accumulated in fat tissues of local cattle, sheep and goats. Gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry detection (GC-MS) adapted to cleanup procedures based on solid-phase extraction from QuEChERS method was adopted. The work was performed for quantitative affirmation of most customarily used pesticides in Sulaymaniyah, Kurdistan Region of Iraq and also the impact of boiling (100 °C, 30 min) and broiling (176 °C, 20 min) on chosen pesticides was evaluated. Among the results of 150 fat samples presented, the dominant compound in cattle samples was hexachlorobenzene (0.236 mg kg-1); while, in sheep and goats it was deltamethrin (0.248 and 0.122 mg kg-1 respectively). Boiling reduced pesticide concentration significantly (P  less then  0.05) and the most reduced group was pyrethroids in both techniques. Good responses for the six analytes were obtained at validation level of 0.01-0.1 mg kg-1. The linear coefficient was between 0.9997 and 0.9999 and limits of detection (LOD) and quantification (LOQ) ranged 0.0052-0.014 mg kg-1 and 0.015-0.044 mg kg-1 respectively. Acceptable recoveries (81.5-98.6%) and relative standard deviation (0.3-9.3%) were obtained in different spiked levels. The validation results confirmed that the proposed GC-MS technique can be utilized as a dependable screening apparatus for the quantitative screening of studied pesticides in fat tissues with accuracy and sensitivity, if deployed along with solid-phase extraction based QuEChERS method. © 2019 The Author(s).

Breast cancer (BC) is the most common cancer in Indian females. The irradiation of internal mammary lymph nodal area (IMLN) is recommended by latest guidelines and literature, even in patients with N1 nodal disease, but it is not routinely done in many institutes due to the risk of late lung and heart toxicities. The incidence of isolated IMLN recurrence <1%. The incidental radiation therapy (RT) dose to axillary lymph nodal area (ALN) could result in lower local recurrences according to literature. The aim of this study is to assess the incidental IMLN area RT dose in patients treated with forward planning intensity-modulated RT (FIF-IMRT).

The aim of our study is to evaluate the RT dose received by IMLN area incidentally in FIF-IMRT and is a single-institute dosimetric study. The patients planned for RT after breast conservation surgery (BCS) or modified radical mastectomy (MRM) were evaluated for IMLN incidental dose.

The new mutants, namely, the slr1-d7 and slr1-d8 lines, are valuable semi-dominant dwarf alleles with potential application value for molecule breeding using the CRISPR/Cas9 system in rice.Seventy-eight graviera cheese samples produced in five different regions of Greece were characterized and discriminated according to geographical origin. For the above purpose, pH, titratable acidity (TA), NaCl, proteins, fat on a dry weight basis, ash, fatty acid composition, volatile compounds, and minerals were determined. Both multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) and linear discriminant analysis (LDA) were applied to experimental data to achieve sample geographical discrimination. The results showed that the combination of fatty acid composition plus minerals provided a correct classification rate of 89.7%. The value for the combination of fatty acid compositions plus conventional quality parameters was 94.9% and for the combination of minerals plus conventional quality parameters was 97.4%. When cheeses of the above five geographical origins were combined with previously studied graviera cheeses from six other geographical origins collected during the same seasons in Greece, the respective values for the discrimination of geographical origin of all eleven origins were 89.3% for conventional quality parameters plus minerals; 94.0% for conventional quality parameters plus fatty acids; 94.1% for minerals plus fatty acids; and 95.2% for conventional quality parameters plus minerals plus fatty acids. The work was performed for quantitative affirmation of most customarily used pesticides in Sulaymaniyah, Kurdistan Region of Iraq and also the impact of boiling (100 °C, 30 min) and broiling (176 °C, 20 min) on chosen pesticides was evaluated. Among the results of 150 fat samples presented, the dominant compound in cattle samples was hexachlorobenzene (0.236 mg kg-1); while, in sheep and goats it was deltamethrin (0.248 and 0.122 mg kg-1 respectively). Boiling reduced pesticide concentration significantly (P  less then  0.05) and the most reduced group was pyrethroids in both techniques. Good responses for the six analytes were obtained at validation level of 0.01-0.1 mg kg-1. The linear coefficient was between 0.9997 and 0.9999 and limits of detection (LOD) and quantification (LOQ) ranged 0.0052-0.014 mg kg-1 and 0.015-0.044 mg kg-1 respectively. Acceptable recoveries (81.5-98.6%) and relative standard deviation (0.3-9.3%) were obtained in different spiked levels. The validation results confirmed that the proposed GC-MS technique can be utilized as a dependable screening apparatus for the quantitative screening of studied pesticides in fat tissues with accuracy and sensitivity, if deployed along with solid-phase extraction based QuEChERS method. © 2019 The Author(s).

An issue of major policy interest in the U.S. military has been interpersonal violence (IPV), especially relative to the frequent and lengthy deployments of U.S. service members to Iraq and Afghanistan. Lacking, however, are estimates of perpetrators of IPV, in particular, for reservists who have been 30% of the ground combat force. In the present study, Army National Guard soldiers (N = 4,567 in 50 company-sized units) responded to questions about deployment and combat, IPV, and suicidal behaviors. Over a tenth (12.2%) of the soldiers reported having done any aggressive behaviors toward significant others or children during postdeployment. More lengthy and repeated deployments were associated with perpetration of IPV. Having killed or wounded someone and having experienced some form of combat trauma were much more strongly associated with IPV perpetration. Suicidal behaviors were associated with having committed IPV, with the greatest risk associated with suicide attempts. Findings are discussed in terms of underlying mechanisms of both IPV perpetration and suicidal behaviors.Individuals with opioid use disorder (OUD) evidenced high levels of aggression both before and after the onset of opioid misuse. Continued aggression after abstinence suggested that abstinence alone may be inadequate. The present study investigated dispositional mindfulness in relation to aggressive attitudes, and verbal and physical aggression, by reviewing medical records of 163 adults in residential treatment for OUD. Results of hierarchical regression analyses, controlling for age and alcohol/drug use and problems, revealed a negative relationship between dispositional mindfulness and both aggressive attitudes and verbal aggression. Although dispositional mindfulness negatively related to physical aggression at the bivariate level, only alcohol use and problems related to physical aggression in regression analyses. Mindfulness-based treatments may be a useful avenue for targeting aggression within this population.
Previous studies have shown that mindfulness is associated with fewer cyberbullying behaviors in adolescents. The present study investigated the ways in which mindfulness is related to cyberbullying in Chinese adolescents by considering the role of empathy and perceived social support.

A total of 1,390 Chinese high school students were recruited for this study. Adolescents' self-reports of mindfulness, cyberbullying, empathy, and perceived social support were used in the analyses.

The results showed our model fitted the data well [χ

= 2.413, CFI = 0.968, TLI = 0.958, RMSEA (90% CI) = 0.059 (0.040-0.078)], and revealed empathy and perceived social support partially mediate the relationship between mindfulness and cyberbullying.
