Although there are cross-country differences in the availability and structure of data sources, countries had the ability to effectively identify comparable HNHC personas for international study. This work serves as the methodological paper for six accompanying papers examining differences in spending, utilization, and outcomes for these personas across countries.PSMA3, a member of the proteasome subunit, has been shown to play a major player in protein degradation. Reportedly, PSMA3 functions as a negative regulator in various cancers including colon, pancreatic and gastric cancers. However, the contributions of PSMA3 to the progression of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) and the underlying mechanism remain unclear. Therefore, in this study, we investigated whether PSMA3 is involved in ESCC progression and the potential underlying mechanism. The results revealed that PSMA3 was highly expressed in the ESCC tumor tissues and functioned as a negative indicator according to the data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA)/Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) datasets and clinical patients' samples. Pathway enrichment analysis showed that PSMA3 was closely correlated with ESCC cancer stemness and the inflammatory response; however, this correlation was absent after knockdown of PSMA3 in vitro. We further demonstrated that PSMA3 suppressed CD8+ T-cells infiltration depending on the C-C motif chemokine ligand 3 (CCL3)/C-C motif chemokine receptor 5 (CCR5) axis. Collectively, these results demonstrate the role of PSMA3 in ESCC cancer stemness and the negative regulation of CD8 T-cells infiltration mediated by PSMA3. The results of this study may provide a potential target for the immuno-oncology effect of PSMA3 in ESCC therapy.Cutinases can play a significant role in a biotechnology-based circular economy. However, relatively little is known about the structure-function relationship of these enzymes, knowledge that is vital to advance optimized, engineered enzyme candidates. Here, two almost identical cutinases from Thermobifida cellulosilytica DSM44535 (Thc_Cut1 and Thc_Cut2) with only 18 amino acids difference were used for a rigorous biochemical characterization of their ability to hydrolyze poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET), PET-model substrates, and cutin-model substrates. Kinetic parameters were compared with detailed in silico docking studies of enzyme-ligand interactions. The two enzymes interacted with, and hydrolyzed PET differently, with Thc_Cut1 generating smaller PET-degradation products. Thc_Cut1 also showed higher catalytic efficiency on long-chain aliphatic substrates, an effect likely caused by small changes in the binding architecture. Thc_Cut2, in contrast, showed improved binding and catalytic efficiency when approaching the glass transition temperature of PET, an effect likely caused by longer amino acid residues in one area at the enzyme's surface. Finally, the position of the single residue Q93 close to the active site, rotated out in Thc_Cut2, influenced the ligand position of a trimeric PET-model substrate. In conclusion, we illustrate that even minor sequence differences in cutinases can affect their substrate binding, substrate specificity, and catalytic efficiency drastically.
Transperineal template prostate biopsies (TPTPB) are now increasingly commonly performed for the diagnosis of prostate cancer. TPTPB are traditionally performed under general anaesthetic. However, this poses a significant strain on hospital theatre capacity. As such, local anaesthetic (LA) TPTPB are becoming more popular. We describe a novel technique in performing the standard TPTPB under LA in the outpatient setting.

Between February 2019- February 2021, 254 consecutive men (median age 69; range 44-80 years) with a median PSA of 8.7 ng/ml (range 2.2-76) underwent L/A TPTPB using our novel technique. This is whereby 50mls of 1% prilocaine was injected partially around the perineal skin and partially deep bilateral periprostatic areas. Multiple simultaneous prostate biopsies were then taken with the standard template grid and stepper.

A total of 250/254 (98.4%) men underwent successful L/A TPTPB with a median visual analogue pain score of 4 (range 2-8). The median prostate volume was 49cc (range 14-240cc). The median number of cores taken were 18 (range 14-24). A total of 163/250 men (65.2%) had a positive histology for prostate cancer with a median of 5 cores being involved with prostate cancer (range 1-18). In addition, 101/163 men (62.0%) diagnosed with prostate cancer had either Gleason score 3+4=7 or greater. None experienced urosepsis and only 2/250 men (0.8%) had temporary urinary retention.

The range of current treatment modalities involving surgeries, injectable agents, and medications is promising but cannot address the reasons behind the occurrence of pain in patients with degenerative disc pathologies. One possible factor for the limited success is the lack of evidence behind the identification of early, intermediate, and late stages of painful changes methodologically in a vast group of populations and the manifestation of the diseases in terms of increased physical activity, hereditary patterns, and various risk factors. However, despite these challenges, steady progress has been achieved in understanding the parameters in abnormally loaded progressively degenerating discs and these features have been elucidated at a physical, biochemical, and cellular level. These recent findings can likely lead to the development of therapeutic interventions that will identify and retard tissue damage, decrease pain, and improve the quality of life in these patients. Therefore, the main aim of this review is to integrate recent updates in intervertebral disc degeneration research for the development of evidence-based screening protocols and more targeted interventions in the management of low back pain.

The study included 936 patients who underwent loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP) for cervical lesions which were diagnosed by cervical biopsy and ECC at the cervical clinic of the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University from January 2014 and December 2018. The correlations among abnormal ECC, human papillomavirus (HPV) type, cytology, margin of excision, and age were analyzed by Pearson's χ2 test and multivariate logistic regression analysis.

Abnormal ECC was associated with HPV-16 infection (P<0.001), or HSIL cervical cytology or worse (P<0.001), or aged 50 years old or older (P<0.001). Abnormal ECC was associated with positive margin of t the same time, our results suggested that ECC abnormalities were associated with positive margin of excision. From 2011 to 2020, 31 patients were hospitalized and diagnosed with retroperitoneal SFTs. We summarized and analysed the morphological features, immunophenotype, treatment and prognosis. Patients (13 M; 18 F) ranged in age from 25 to 79 years with a mean age of 53.6 years. The main symptoms included an abdominal mass (48.4%) and abdominal discomfort (25.8%). The mean maximum diameter of the tumours was 12.9 cm (range, 4-40 cm). Histopathologically, there were 17 classic cases and 14 hemangiopericytoma-like cases. The tumour cells were positive for STAT6 (96.8%), CD34 (96.8%), CD99 (93.5%) and BCL-2 (90.3%). Literature searches were conducted on seven electronic databases, grey literature, and websites of agencies conducting health technology assessments. Studies were included if they (1) were full, comparative economic evaluations that used cost-utility, cost-benefit, cost-effectiveness, cost-consequence, or cost-analysis methods; (2) described screening services designed to detect amblyopia, strabismus, or uncorrected refractive errors in children under 6years of age; and (3) published after 1994. High-quality studies were synthesized descriptively. Currencies were reported in 2019 Canadian dollars. Quality was assessed with the Pediatric Quality Appraisal Questionnaire (PQAQ).

Vision screening services were conducted by paid staff, volunteers, or health care professionals in schools or clinics. Thirteen studies were published from five countries China (n = 1), United States (n = 4), UnitedKingdom (n = 1), Canada (n = 1), and Germany (n = 6).

Recently, selective internal radiation therapy using yttrium-90 (Y90) glass microspheres (TheraSphere™) was approved for reimbursement by health authorities in France. The PROACTIF study aims to gather data on effectiveness, patient quality of life, and safety with use of Y90 glass microspheres in real-world clinical settings in France.

Patient with a diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (iCC), and/or metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) who was treated with a dose of Y90 glass microspheres that has been reimbursed in France and who do not oppose use of their personal medical data.

If data collection is opposed, treatment is reimbursed but not administered, or treatment is administered but not reimbursed.

Primary outcome measures include overall survival from time of Y90 glass microsphere treatment and quality of life, as assessed using the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy- Hepatobiliary questionnaire.

This is an open study and there is no set number of patients; 115 have already been enrolled.

Analyses will be stratified by disease state (HCC, iCC, or mCRC). Subgroups to be analyzed include age group, unilobar/bilobar disease at baseline, Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) status at baseline, liver tumor burden at baseline, target lesion size, and standard versus multi-compartment personalized dosimetry treatment.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the ecological association between soil lead (Pb) concentrations in greenspaces in Brooklyn, NY and elevated BLLs of children aged 1 to 5 years old. Soil samples (n = 1504) were collected from a wide variety of parks within 43 neighborhood tabulation areas (NTAs) located in Brooklyn, NY, analyzed with a portable XRF with a subset (n = 350), and also analyzed by ICP-MS. Lead concentrations were right skewed with a mean of 160.4 ppm and a median of 113.1 ppm. The Pb concentration range spanned three orders of magnitude with most samples (66.7%) ≥ 80 ppm and 6.7% of samples ≥ 400 ppm. Elevated BLL (≥ 5ug/dL) data on children 1 to 5 years were obtained from the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (2011-2015). Weighted median soil Pb concentrations were calculated for each NTA and stratified into quartiles. The overall median rate of children from 1 to 5 years old with BLLs ≥ 5 µg/dL was 28.6 per 1000; the median rate was highest (p = 0.070) in the fourth quartile (Pb concentrations ≥ 150 ppm) compared to the first quartile (Pb concentrations  less then  88 ppm), 37.2 vs. 28.3 per 1000, respectively. We then used multivariable linear regression to determine the ecological association between BLL rates and soil Pb concentrations. In the final stepwise multivariable regression model, controlling for known risk factors, there was a significant positive association between soil Pb concentrations and increased childhood BLL rates (beta = 0.0008; p = 0.004). Our findings suggest that there is an ecological association between high soil Pb levels and increased rates of elevated childhood BLLs.
This systematic review summarizes and presents the current state of research quantifying the relationship between mental disorder and overdose for people who use opioids.

The protocol was published in Open Science Framework. We used the PECOS framework to frame the review question. Studies published between January 1, 2000, and January 4, 2021, from North America, Europe, the UnitedKingdom, Australia, and New Zealand were systematically identified and screened through searching electronic databases, citations, and by contacting experts. Risk of bias assessments were performed. Data were synthesized using the lumping technique.

Overall, 6512 records were screened and 38 were selected for inclusion. 37of the38 studies included in this review show a connection between at least one aspect of mental disorder and opioid overdose. The largest body of evidence exists for internalizing disorders generally and mood disorders specifically, followed by anxiety disorders, although there is also moderate evidence to support the relationship between thought disorders (e.g., schizophrenia, bipolar disorder) and opioid overdose. Moderate evidence also was found for the association between any disorder and overdose.

The importance of both frequent and high-quality social connections is widely recognised. Previous reviews of interventions for promoting social connections found mixed results due to the inclusion of uncontrolled studies and merging of objective and subjective dimensions of social connections. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of interventions designed to promote 'objective social contact' and the 'quality of social connections'; and compare the effectiveness of interventions from different theoretical orientations on these social dimensions through a systematic review and meta-analysis of controlled trials.

A systematic search of electronic databases Medline, Embase, PsycINFO and PubMed was conducted to identify randomised controlled trials of interventions for social isolation, loneliness, social participation and/or social connectedness in adults. Data were analysed using Stata V.16.0.

Fifty-eight studies met inclusion criteria (mean age = 62years). Overall, interventions led to significal connections and reducing distress.
Weight reduction is fundamental for type 2 diabetes management and remission, but uncertainty exists over which diet type is best to achieve and maintain weight loss. We evaluated dietary approaches for weight loss, and remission, in people with type 2 diabetes to inform practice and clinical guidelines.

First, we conducted a systematic review of published meta-analyses of RCTs of weight-loss diets. We searched MEDLINE (Ovid), PubMed, Web of Science and Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, up to 7 May 2021. We synthesised weight loss findings stratified by diet types and assessed meta-analyses quality with A Measurement Tool to Assess Systematic Reviews (AMSTAR) 2. We assessed certainty of pooled results of each meta-analysis using Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development and Evaluations (GRADE) (PROSPERO CRD42020169258). Second, we conducted a systematic review of any intervention studies reporting type 2 diabetes remission with weight-loss diets, in MEDLINE (via PubMed), Embase and Cochraclinical outcomes and diabetes complications.
The purpose was to conduct an independent biomechanical study comparing the main types of femoral fixation adapted to short hamstring grafts in anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction surgery and to validate their performance.

Femoral, ToggleLoc™ Ziploop (TLZ), and Tape Locking Screw (TLS
) implants were tested in tension in the following three different configurations implant alone, implant fixed on the femur without graft, and implant fixed on the femur with graft. Grafts alone were also tested. The femurs and the 4-strand semi-tendinosus grafts were derived from porcine and human models, respectively. Each set-up was subjected to the same protocol of creep (50N for 30s), cycling (1000 cycles between 50 and 250N, 1Hz), and load to failure (50mm/min).

, and 13 ST4 alone). For the implants tested with femur and graft, the mean ± standard deviation (SD) overall elongation at 250N after cycling was 5.2 ± 0.2mm, 8.4 ± 2.1ml implants validated the specifications in terms of ultimate load to failure, the TLS® system had, however, a low performance limit. ToggleLoc™ with adjustable loop should no longer be used on the femur side; instead the other types of fixation should be used to improve the overall elongation control.Uncontrolled hemorrhage is the leading cause of trauma death. The development of safe and efficient hemostatic agents that can rapidly and effectively control bleeding is of great significance to rescue the injured. However, the mechanical, absorptive, and antibacterial properties of conventional two-dimensional hemostatic agents are not satisfactory. Herein, a series of effective three-dimensional hemostatic dressings (JWCNT/HBC sponges) are developed by chemical modification of joint-welded carbon nanotube (JWCNT) sponges with hydroxybutyl chitosan (HBC) for hemorrhage hemostasis. The JWCNT/HBC sponges exhibit high elasticity, porous structure, and suitable blood-absorption and blood-maintaining performance. Moreover, the introduction of HBC endows the JWCNT/HBC sponges with favorable blood compatibility and good antibacterial activity. The sponge treated with 0.5% HBC (JWCNT/0.5%HBC sponge) displays better antiseptic capability, faster blood clotting ability in vitro and shorter hemostasis time in vivo than the commercial gelatin sponge.

The overall median rate of children from 1 to 5 years old with BLLs ≥ 5 µg/dL was 28.6 per 1000; the median rate was highest (p = 0.070) in the fourth quartile (Pb concentrations ≥ 150 ppm) compared to the first quartile (Pb concentrations  less then  88 ppm), 37.2 vs. 28.3 per 1000, respectively. We then used multivariable linear regression to determine the ecological association between BLL rates and soil Pb concentrations. In the final stepwise multivariable regression model, controlling for known risk factors, there was a significant positive association between soil Pb concentrations and increased childhood BLL rates (beta = 0.0008; p = 0.004). Our findings suggest that there is an ecological association between high soil Pb levels and increased rates of elevated childhood BLLs.
This systematic review summarizes and presents the current state of research quantifying the relationship between mental disorder and overdose for people who use opioids.

The protocol was published in Open Science Framework. We used the PECOS framework to frame the review question. Studies published between January 1, 2000, and January 4, 2021, from North America, Europe, the UnitedKingdom, Australia, and New Zealand were systematically identified and screened through searching electronic databases, citations, and by contacting experts. Risk of bias assessments were performed. Data were synthesized using the lumping technique.

Overall, 6512 records were screened and 38 were selected for inclusion. 37of the38 studies included in this review show a connection between at least one aspect of mental disorder and opioid overdose. The largest body of evidence exists for internalizing disorders generally and mood disorders specifically, followed by anxiety disorders, although there is also moderate evidence to support the relationship between thought disorders (e.g., schizophrenia, bipolar disorder) and opioid overdose. Moderate evidence also was found for the association between any disorder and overdose.

The importance of both frequent and high-quality social connections is widely recognised. Previous reviews of interventions for promoting social connections found mixed results due to the inclusion of uncontrolled studies and merging of objective and subjective dimensions of social connections. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of interventions designed to promote 'objective social contact' and the 'quality of social connections'; and compare the effectiveness of interventions from different theoretical orientations on these social dimensions through a systematic review and meta-analysis of controlled trials.

A systematic search of electronic databases Medline, Embase, PsycINFO and PubMed was conducted to identify randomised controlled trials of interventions for social isolation, loneliness, social participation and/or social connectedness in adults. Data were analysed using Stata V.16.0.

Fifty-eight studies met inclusion criteria (mean age = 62years). Overall, interventions led to significal connections and reducing distress.

The purpose was to conduct an independent biomechanical study comparing the main types of femoral fixation adapted to short hamstring grafts in anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction surgery and to validate their performance.

) implants were tested in tension in the following three different configurations implant alone, implant fixed on the femur without graft, and implant fixed on the femur with graft. Grafts alone were also tested. The femurs and the 4-strand semi-tendinosus grafts were derived from porcine and human models, respectively. Each set-up was subjected to the same protocol of creep (50N for 30s), cycling (1000 cycles between 50 and 250N, 1Hz), and load to failure (50mm/min).

A total of 93 tests were performed (30 ACLip

The JWCNT/HBC sponges exhibit high elasticity, porous structure, and suitable blood-absorption and blood-maintaining performance. link3 Moreover, the introduction of HBC endows the JWCNT/HBC sponges with favorable blood compatibility and good antibacterial activity. The sponge treated with 0.5% HBC (JWCNT/0.5%HBC sponge) displays better antiseptic capability, faster blood clotting ability in vitro and shorter hemostasis time in vivo than the commercial gelatin sponge.

Reportedly, PSMA3 functions as a negative regulator in various cancers including colon, pancreatic and gastric cancers. However, the contributions of PSMA3 to the progression of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) and the underlying mechanism remain unclear. Therefore, in this study, we investigated whether PSMA3 is involved in ESCC progression and the potential underlying mechanism. The results revealed that PSMA3 was highly expressed in the ESCC tumor tissues and functioned as a negative indicator according to the data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA)/Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) datasets and clinical patients' samples. Pathway enrichment analysis showed that PSMA3 was closely correlated with ESCC cancer stemness and the inflammatory response; however, this correlation was absent after knockdown of PSMA3 in vitro. We further demonstrated that PSMA3 suppressed CD8+ T-cells infiltration depending on the C-C motif chemokine ligand 3 (CCL3)/C-C motif chemokine receptor 5 (CCR5) axis. Collectively, these results demonstrate the role of PSMA3 in ESCC cancer stemness and the negative regulation of CD8 T-cells infiltration mediated by PSMA3. However, relatively little is known about the structure-function relationship of these enzymes, knowledge that is vital to advance optimized, engineered enzyme candidates. Here, two almost identical cutinases from Thermobifida cellulosilytica DSM44535 (Thc_Cut1 and Thc_Cut2) with only 18 amino acids difference were used for a rigorous biochemical characterization of their ability to hydrolyze poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET), PET-model substrates, and cutin-model substrates. Kinetic parameters were compared with detailed in silico docking studies of enzyme-ligand interactions. The two enzymes interacted with, and hydrolyzed PET differently, with Thc_Cut1 generating smaller PET-degradation products. Thc_Cut1 also showed higher catalytic efficiency on long-chain aliphatic substrates, an effect likely caused by small changes in the binding architecture. Thc_Cut2, in contrast, showed improved binding and catalytic efficiency when approaching the glass transition temperature of PET, an effect likely caused by longer amino acid residues in one area at the enzyme's surface. Finally, the position of the single residue Q93 close to the active site, rotated out in Thc_Cut2, influenced the ligand position of a trimeric PET-model substrate. In conclusion, we illustrate that even minor sequence differences in cutinases can affect their substrate binding, substrate specificity, and catalytic efficiency drastically.
Transperineal template prostate biopsies (TPTPB) are now increasingly commonly performed for the diagnosis of prostate cancer. TPTPB are traditionally performed under general anaesthetic. However, this poses a significant strain on hospital theatre capacity. As such, local anaesthetic (LA) TPTPB are becoming more popular. We describe a novel technique in performing the standard TPTPB under LA in the outpatient setting.

Between February 2019- February 2021, 254 consecutive men (median age 69; range 44-80 years) with a median PSA of 8.7 ng/ml (range 2.2-76) underwent L/A TPTPB using our novel technique. This is whereby 50mls of 1% prilocaine was injected partially around the perineal skin and partially deep bilateral periprostatic areas. Multiple simultaneous prostate biopsies were then taken with the standard template grid and stepper.

A total of 250/254 (98.4%) men underwent successful L/A TPTPB with a median visual analogue pain score of 4 (range 2-8). The median prostate volume was 49cc (range 14-240cc). The median number of cores taken were 18 (range 14-24). A total of 163/250 men (65.2%) had a positive histology for prostate cancer with a median of 5 cores being involved with prostate cancer (range 1-18). In addition, 101/163 men (62.0%) diagnosed with prostate cancer had either Gleason score 3+4=7 or greater. None experienced urosepsis and only 2/250 men (0.8%) had temporary urinary retention.

The range of current treatment modalities involving surgeries, injectable agents, and medications is promising but cannot address the reasons behind the occurrence of pain in patients with degenerative disc pathologies. One possible factor for the limited success is the lack of evidence behind the identification of early, intermediate, and late stages of painful changes methodologically in a vast group of populations and the manifestation of the diseases in terms of increased physical activity, hereditary patterns, and various risk factors. However, despite these challenges, steady progress has been achieved in understanding the parameters in abnormally loaded progressively degenerating discs and these features have been elucidated at a physical, biochemical, and cellular level. These recent findings can likely lead to the development of therapeutic interventions that will identify and retard tissue damage, decrease pain, and improve the quality of life in these patients. Therefore, the main aim of this review is to integrate recent updates in intervertebral disc degeneration research for the development of evidence-based screening protocols and more targeted interventions in the management of low back pain.

The study included 936 patients who underwent loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP) for cervical lesions which were diagnosed by cervical biopsy and ECC at the cervical clinic of the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University from January 2014 and December 2018. The correlations among abnormal ECC, human papillomavirus (HPV) type, cytology, margin of excision, and age were analyzed by Pearson's χ2 test and multivariate logistic regression analysis.

Abnormal ECC was associated with HPV-16 infection (P<0.001), or HSIL cervical cytology or worse (P<0.001), or aged 50 years old or older (P<0.001). Abnormal ECC was associated with positive margin of t the same time, our results suggested that ECC abnormalities were associated with positive margin of excision. Patients (13 M; 18 F) ranged in age from 25 to 79 years with a mean age of 53.6 years. The main symptoms included an abdominal mass (48.4%) and abdominal discomfort (25.8%). The mean maximum diameter of the tumours was 12.9 cm (range, 4-40 cm). Histopathologically, there were 17 classic cases and 14 hemangiopericytoma-like cases. The tumour cells were positive for STAT6 (96.8%), CD34 (96.8%), CD99 (93.5%) and BCL-2 (90.3%). Studies were included if they (1) were full, comparative economic evaluations that used cost-utility, cost-benefit, cost-effectiveness, cost-consequence, or cost-analysis methods; (2) described screening services designed to detect amblyopia, strabismus, or uncorrected refractive errors in children under 6years of age; and (3) published after 1994. High-quality studies were synthesized descriptively. Currencies were reported in 2019 Canadian dollars. Quality was assessed with the Pediatric Quality Appraisal Questionnaire (PQAQ).

Recently, selective internal radiation therapy using yttrium-90 (Y90) glass microspheres (TheraSphere™) was approved for reimbursement by health authorities in France. The PROACTIF study aims to gather data on effectiveness, patient quality of life, and safety with use of Y90 glass microspheres in real-world clinical settings in France.

Patient with a diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (iCC), and/or metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) who was treated with a dose of Y90 glass microspheres that has been reimbursed in France and who do not oppose use of their personal medical data.

If data collection is opposed, treatment is reimbursed but not administered, or treatment is administered but not reimbursed.

Primary outcome measures include overall survival from time of Y90 glass microsphere treatment and quality of life, as assessed using the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy- Hepatobiliary questionnaire.

This is an open study and there is no set number of patients; 115 have already been enrolled.

Analyses will be stratified by disease state (HCC, iCC, or mCRC). Subgroups to be analyzed include age group, unilobar/bilobar disease at baseline, Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) status at baseline, liver tumor burden at baseline, target lesion size, and standard versus multi-compartment personalized dosimetry treatment.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the ecological association between soil lead (Pb) concentrations in greenspaces in Brooklyn, NY and elevated BLLs of children aged 1 to 5 years old. Soil samples (n = 1504) were collected from a wide variety of parks within 43 neighborhood tabulation areas (NTAs) located in Brooklyn, NY, analyzed with a portable XRF with a subset (n = 350), and also analyzed by ICP-MS. Lead concentrations were right skewed with a mean of 160.4 ppm and a median of 113.1 ppm. The Pb concentration range spanned three orders of magnitude with most samples (66.7%) ≥ 80 ppm and 6.7% of samples ≥ 400 ppm. Elevated BLL (≥ 5ug/dL) data on children 1 to 5 years were obtained from the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (2011-2015). Weighted median soil Pb concentrations were calculated for each NTA and stratified into quartiles. The JWCNT/HBC sponges exhibit high elasticity, porous structure, and suitable blood-absorption and blood-maintaining performance. Moreover, the introduction of HBC endows the JWCNT/HBC sponges with favorable blood compatibility and good antibacterial activity. The sponge treated with 0.5% HBC (JWCNT/0.5%HBC sponge) displays better antiseptic capability, faster blood clotting ability in vitro and shorter hemostasis time in vivo than the commercial gelatin sponge.

Recently, selective internal radiation therapy using yttrium-90 (Y90) glass microspheres (TheraSphere™) was approved for reimbursement by health authorities in France. The PROACTIF study aims to gather data on effectiveness, patient quality of life, and safety with use of Y90 glass microspheres in real-world clinical settings in France.

Patient with a diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (iCC), and/or metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) who was treated with a dose of Y90 glass microspheres that has been reimbursed in France and who do not oppose use of their personal medical data.

If data collection is opposed, treatment is reimbursed but not administered, or treatment is administered but not reimbursed.

Primary outcome measures include overall survival from time of Y90 glass microsphere treatment and quality of life, as assessed using the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy- Hepatobiliary questionnaire.

This is an open study and there is no set number of patients; 115 have already been enrolled.

Analyses will be stratified by disease state (HCC, iCC, or mCRC). Subgroups to be analyzed include age group, unilobar/bilobar disease at baseline, Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) status at baseline, liver tumor burden at baseline, target lesion size, and standard versus multi-compartment personalized dosimetry treatment.

Recruitment includes patients who are prescribed and treated with a commercial vial of Y90 glass microspheres between 01 January 2019 and 31 December 2024.

ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier NCT04069468.Seventeen organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) and seven indicator polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) residues in 80 sediment samples from four cage aquaculture farms on the Volta Basin were determined to find out the extent of their contamination as well as their risk to biota in the aquatic ecosystem. The extracted residues of the OCPs and PCBs were analysed on a gas chromatograph equipped with an electron capture detector and mass spectrometer, respectively. Eleven (11) OCPs methoxychlor, δ-HCH, o,p'-DDD, α-endosulphan, β-HCH, o,p-DDE, p,p-DDE, p,p'-DDT, β-endosulphan, endrin, and heptachlor and seven (7) PCBs PCB 18, PCB 28, PCB 52, PCB 101, PCB 138, PCB 153, and PCB 180 were detected in the sediments from the farms. The OCPs level ranged  less then  LOD - 33.0 µg/kg. δ-HCH (8.154 ± 0.414 µg/kg), α-endosulphan (6.000 ± 1.414 µg/kg), o,p'-DDD (2.010 ± 1.46 µg/kg), endrin (13.867 ± 8.716 µg/kg), and α-endosulphan (0.503 ± 0.398 µg/kg) were predominant with frequencies of detection 100%, 45%, 68%, 92%, and 25% in fish farms A, B, C, D and controls, respectively. PCBs concentrations ranged 0.042-5.320 ng/g wet weight. PCB 153 recorded the highest concentration of 3.328 ± 1.700 ng/g in farm D. PCB 18 and PCB 180 dominated the profiles in the sediment from all the farms. The ecotoxicological risk of the OCPs and PCBs in the surface sediment using the SQGs indicated that ∑HCH in the sediment from all the farms except that the controls may pose a health risk to the benthic organisms. Therefore, a comprehensive remedial intervention is required to arrest the situation.Although the prevalence of elevated childhood blood lead levels (BLLs) has been declining, there are still an estimated 500,000 children (1 to 5 years) with BLLs above the CDC's reference value (≥ 5 μg/dL). The objective of this study was to evaluate the ecological association between soil lead (Pb) concentrations in greenspaces in Brooklyn, NY and elevated BLLs of children aged 1 to 5 years old. Soil samples (n = 1504) were collected from a wide variety of parks within 43 neighborhood tabulation areas (NTAs) located in Brooklyn, NY, analyzed with a portable XRF with a subset (n = 350), and also analyzed by ICP-MS. Lead concentrations were right skewed with a mean of 160.4 ppm and a median of 113.1 ppm. The overall median rate of children from 1 to 5 years old with BLLs ≥ 5 µg/dL was 28.6 per 1000; the median rate was highest (p = 0.070) in the fourth quartile (Pb concentrations ≥ 150 ppm) compared to the first quartile (Pb concentrations  less then  88 ppm), 37.2 vs. 28.3 per 1000, respectively. We then used multivariable linear regression to determine the ecological association between BLL rates and soil Pb concentrations. In the final stepwise multivariable regression model, controlling for known risk factors, there was a significant positive association between soil Pb concentrations and increased childhood BLL rates (beta = 0.0008; p = 0.004). Our findings suggest that there is an ecological association between high soil Pb levels and increased rates of elevated childhood BLLs.
This systematic review summarizes and presents the current state of research quantifying the relationship between mental disorder and overdose for people who use opioids.

The protocol was published in Open Science Framework. We used the PECOS framework to frame the review question. Studies published between January 1, 2000, and January 4, 2021, from North America, Europe, the UnitedKingdom, Australia, and New Zealand were systematically identified and screened through searching electronic databases, citations, and by contacting experts. Risk of bias assessments were performed. Data were synthesized using the lumping technique.

Overall, 6512 records were screened and 38 were selected for inclusion. 37of the38 studies included in this review show a connection between at least one aspect of mental disorder and opioid overdose. The largest body of evidence exists for internalizing disorders generally and mood disorders specifically, followed by anxiety disorders, although there is also moderate evidence to support the relationship between thought disorders (e.g., schizophrenia, bipolar disorder) and opioid overdose. Moderate evidence also was found for the association between any disorder and overdose.

Nearly all reviewed studies found a connection between mental disorder and overdose, and the evidence suggests that having mental disorder is associated with experiencing fatal and non-fatal opioid overdose, but causal direction remains unclear.

The importance of both frequent and high-quality social connections is widely recognised. Previous reviews of interventions for promoting social connections found mixed results due to the inclusion of uncontrolled studies and merging of objective and subjective dimensions of social connections. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of interventions designed to promote 'objective social contact' and the 'quality of social connections'; and compare the effectiveness of interventions from different theoretical orientations on these social dimensions through a systematic review and meta-analysis of controlled trials.

A systematic search of electronic databases Medline, Embase, PsycINFO and PubMed was conducted to identify randomised controlled trials of interventions for social isolation, loneliness, social participation and/or social connectedness in adults. Data were analysed using Stata V.16.0.

Fifty-eight studies met inclusion criteria (mean age = 62years). Overall, interventions led to significal connections and reducing distress.
Weight reduction is fundamental for type 2 diabetes management and remission, but uncertainty exists over which diet type is best to achieve and maintain weight loss. We evaluated dietary approaches for weight loss, and remission, in people with type 2 diabetes to inform practice and clinical guidelines.

First, we conducted a systematic review of published meta-analyses of RCTs of weight-loss diets. We searched MEDLINE (Ovid), PubMed, Web of Science and Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, up to 7 May 2021. link2 We synthesised weight loss findings stratified by diet types and assessed meta-analyses quality with A Measurement Tool to Assess Systematic Reviews (AMSTAR) 2. We assessed certainty of pooled results of each meta-analysis using Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development and Evaluations (GRADE) (PROSPERO CRD42020169258). Second, we conducted a systematic review of any intervention studies reporting type 2 diabetes remission with weight-loss diets, in MEDLINE (via PubMed), Embase and Cochraclinical outcomes and diabetes complications.
The purpose was to conduct an independent biomechanical study comparing the main types of femoral fixation adapted to short hamstring grafts in anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction surgery and to validate their performance.

The ACLip
Femoral, ToggleLoc™ Ziploop (TLZ), and Tape Locking Screw (TLS
) implants were tested in tension in the following three different configurations implant alone, implant fixed on the femur without graft, and implant fixed on the femur with graft. Grafts alone were also tested. The femurs and the 4-strand semi-tendinosus grafts were derived from porcine and human models, respectively. Each set-up was subjected to the same protocol of creep (50N for 30s), cycling (1000 cycles between 50 and 250N, 1Hz), and load to failure (50mm/min).
