Using Tragedy as an Excuse to Spy on Americans
After the September 11th attacks on America, security agencies were scrambling to make the US a safer place. On this episode of the Whistleblower John Kiriakou speaks to William Binney who blew the whistle on a program allowing NSA to spy on literally every American. It was a game-changing decision, patently illegal, and extraordinarily expensive. Binney was publicly critical of NSA spying on American citizens after September 11, saying Trailblazer was “better than anything that the KGB, the Stasi, or the Gestapo and SS ever had.”
