Brittany Fiste got two of the series of three HPV Gardasil vaccination shots 16 years ago. “I went to a doctor's appointment and was scared into taking a vaccine that I didn't know anything about,” Fiste told #CHDTV.

Initially, doctors not only dismissed her symptoms but accused her of making them up. They ignored her inability to walk, eat, and think properly. She later found out she had damage to her brain, stomach, and vagus nerve, and was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome. She even stopped breathing + flatlined — “I died twice and was brought back.”

Since the Gardasil shots, Brittany has needed a cane, cuff crutches, or sometimes a wheelchair. Her life since the shots has been “a roller coaster.”
