Video has emerged of Shanghai citizens screaming in desperation from their homes where they have been in quarantine for weeks.
The U.S. has ordered all nonessential consulate staff to leave the city and has urged Americans to reconsider their travel to China due to "arbitrary enforcement" of local laws and COVID-19 restrictions.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian said on Sunday that China was "strongly dissatisfied with and firmly opposed to the U.S. side's groundless accusations against China's epidemic response."
