Biden Warns Again Of Russian Cyberattack On U.S.
The White House warned Monday they believe the Russian government is exploring “options for potential cyberattacks” on critical infrastructure in the U.S.
Biden told press at a briefing, "Look, today my administration issued new warnings that, based on evolving intelligence, Russia may be planning a cyberattack against us. As I said, the magnitude of Russia's cyber capacity is fairly consequential and it's coming. The federal government is doing its part to get ready. But under U.S. law, as you all remember, the private sector, all of you, largely decides the protections that we will or will not take."
Biden made a similar warning back in July 2021 when he stated, "if we end up in a war, a real shooting war, with a major power, it's going to be as a consequence of a cyber breach of great consequence."
These claims are eerily similar to those of Klaus Schwab in 2020, as he reflected on how learning from COVID-19 pandemic measures would help prepare us for a coming cyberattack.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov on Tuesday dismissed the United States' warnings of cyberattacks, saying that Russia does not engage in "banditry."
"The Russian Federation, unlike many Western countries, including the United States, does not engage in state-level banditry," Peskov said.
