Trudeau Revokes Emergencies Act Days After Approval From House of Commons
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced Wednesday he is revoking the Emergencies Act just days after winning approval from the Canadian House of Commons.
“The situation is no longer an emergency,” Trudeau said. “We are confident that existing laws and bylaws are now sufficient to keep people safe,” he added.
Trudeau stated a joint committee of parliamentarians will review the declaration of emergency and perform an inquiry into the circumstances which lead to the Emergencies Act being invoked. This inquiry will include the funding, influence and 'disinformation' that supported the Freedom Convoy.
