Ottawa police have confirmed they have been using video cameras to gather intel that will be used against protesters, even those who have left the scene peacefully. These protesters will face financial sanctions and criminal charges.

An independent media journalist asked Ottawa Police Chief Steve Bell, "If the protesters at this point retreat and go home, are they going to be getting repercussions down the road? Are you going to be pursuing the people that you've been sort of documenting and filming... what are your plans after this after the protests are over?"

Bell responded, "The simple answer is yes; if you are involved in this protest we will actively look to identify you and follow up with financial sanctions and criminal charges."
