The study examines the nexus between household ICT utilization and food security in Nigeria, which supports goal 2 of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that aims to "end hunger, achieve food security, improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture." The study employs the logit regression to wave 4 of Living Standard Measurement Integrated Survey on Agriculture (LSMS) data for the empirical analysis. Based on the analysis, the study finds that for male household, ICT utilization has a statistically significant and positive nexus with food security. In contrast, for the female households, an insignificant and, however, negative nexus is observed with food security in Nigeria. Furthermore, the findings show that for male household users, a 1 percent increase in male household ICT utilization spurs about 0.68 percent increase in food security in Nigeria. The findings imply that among the male and female household ICT users, the male household ICT utilization is significantly contributes to food security in Nigeria. The study recommends that relevant stakeholders take strategic measures to ensure that the potentials of household ICTs be fully maximized to contribute to food security in the nearest future as confirmed by studies in other regions.Pomegranate is a perishable superfruit with important human health-promoting phytochemicals. The use of cold storage is inevitable for its long-term preservation. As pomegranate is sensitive to temperatures below 5°C, it is therefore necessary and worthwhile to introduce a postharvest technique that is safe, applicable, and commercially acceptable to maintain the fruit quality under a cold storage condition. The efficacy of intermittent warming (IW) in the form of a single warming period (1 day at 20°C with 70% relative humidity (RH) before returning the treated fruit to storage) during the cold storage of 'Rabab-e-Neyriz' pomegranate (70 days at 2 ± 0.5°C and 90 ± 5% RH) was evaluated. To find the best treatment time, warming was performed at 4 temporary interruption points in storage (after 15, 25, 35, or 45 days of storage). For each interruption date, the treated fruit were compared to the controls twice, once immediately after treatment and once at the end of the storage period. It was founded that a single warming period at the right time during cold storage (before irreversible damage occurs) activated multiple mechanisms and physiological responses in pomegranate fruit peel that are significantly responsible for alleviating the severity of chilling damage to this commodity. In other words, warming on the 15th day was the most efficient treatment, resulting in better preservation of unsaturated fatty acids from peroxidation, lower malondialdehyde (MDA) production, and preservation of the unsaturated/saturated fatty acids (UFAs/SFAs) ratio (membrane integrity index) in the peel during storage and lower chilling injury symptoms. Moreover, the content of spermine (Spm) and putrescine (Put) (as important antioxidants acting as membrane safety agents) was significantly increased immediately after treatment, followed by a continuous increase in Spm and a higher level of Put compared to control until the end of storage.
Although importance of postpartum family planning is essential and immediate postpartum insertion of long acting and reversible contraceptives (LARC) is recommended, evidence on its uptake and associated factors is limited in Ethiopia. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/gw5074.html This study was conducted to assess utilization of immediate postpartum LARC among women who gave birth in selected public health facilities in eastern Ethiopia.

An institution-based cross-sectional study was conducted among randomly selected women who gave birth in selected public health facilities in eastern Ethiopia from 10 March to 09 April 2020. At discharge, all eligible women who gave birth in the facilities were interviewed using a pretested structured questionnaire. Data were entered using EpiData 3.1 and analyzed using SPSS 24. Bivariable and multivariable logistic regression analyses were conducted to identify factors associated with utilization of immediate postpartum LARC. Adjusted odds ratio (aOR) with 95% confidence interval was used to report association, and eastern Ethiopia started using LARC. Provision of respectful maternity care including counselling on the importance of immediate postpartum family planning is essential for increasing its uptake.Wearable devices have gained popularity in recent years for tracking metrics related to personal health and well-being such as vital signs, motion, and sleep. Wearable devices are considered to have a very high potential value for detecting, monitoring, and controlling the spread of infectious diseases such as COVID-19, based on their ability to collect data in a non-invasive and contactless manner. With the Biostrap wrist-worn device (Biostrap USA LLC, Duarte, CA, USA), a commercially available, clinically validated wearable device that uses photoplethysmography to automatically record physiological data such as resting heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation (SpO2), and arterial stiffness (AS), we collected biometric data from 933 subjects. We present two cases of patients who have tested positive for the presence of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS-CoV-2), a 24-year-old man experiencing major symptoms and another a 49-year-old man with only intermittent fatigue, and show the marked changes in biometric measurements around dates of symptom onset and positive test. We observed a pattern of sustained respiratory rate elevation in both patients, punctuated by a sharp spike in heart rate and decreased AS. The latter contradicted our expectation that during the onset of symptoms of COVID-19, an increase in AS might occur.
The present narrative review aims to collate the literature regarding the current use of wearable gait measurement devices for falls-risk assessment in neurological and non-neurological populations. Thereby, this review seeks to determine the extent to which the aforementioned barriers inhibit clinical use.

Falls contribute a significant disease burden in most western countries, resulting in increased morbidity and mortality with substantial therapeutic costs. The recent development of gait analysis sensor technologies has enabled quantitative measurement of several gait features related to falls risk. However, three main barriers to implementation exist accurately measuring gait-features associated with falls, differentiating between fallers and non-fallers using these gait features, and the accuracy of falls predictive algorithms developed using these gait measurements.

Searches of Medline, PubMed, Embase and Scopus were screened to identify 46 articles relevant to the present study. Studies performin-meter walk test or timed-up-and-go. However, data is lacking regarding their accuracy in neurological patient populations. Inertial measurement units (IMU) have displayed competency in obtaining and interpreting gait metrics relevant to falls risk. They have the potential to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of falls risk assessment in inpatient and outpatient setting.
Breast cancer is one of the most frequently diagnosed cancers worldwide. Screening, education about signs and symptoms, and improved access to treatment has helped reduce mortality. An understanding of the informational needs of women with breast cancer can help identify areas where mobile apps can further improve the experience of this patient group.

Personas are a commonly used tools in user centred design to help represent particular user archetypes. Knowledge of existing informational needs and prior research using personas in breast cancer app design were used to create two different personas through which to source apps for evaluation. The Mobile Application Rating Scale, a common evaluation framework, was used to evaluate the mobile apps across several important domains.

Becca and OWise, two apps for breast cancer, were found through a discovery process in line with the personas described. Overall, both apps scored highly on the Mobile Application Rating Scale. Both apps had limited or no research to support their use in this patient group, and had issues related to data privacy. Becca scored particularly highly in domains related to accessibility while OWise's extensive range of features scored highly for functionality.

Both apps demonstrate the ability to fill an informational needs gap as evidenced in the existing literature. As with many mobile health apps, more clinical evidence and improved data handling would help support the widespread recommendation of their use in women who are undergoing or have completed treatment for breast cancer.

Adopting healthy lifestyle habits reduces the risk of type 2 diabetes (T2D) and its complications. The use of an activity tracker to monitor physical activity (PA) could favor behavior changes in patients with chronic diseases such as diabetes. The aims of this study were (I) to evaluate the impact of an activity tracker on PA and cardiometabolic risk variables in patients with T2D; (II) to assess the feasibility of its implantation in a primary care setting.

This 3-month study was a pilot randomized controlled trial of 30 patients with T2D followed at a university-affiliated Family Medicine Group. Patients were randomly assigned to either (I) control group, including a PA promotion intervention supported by a kinesiologist or (II) intervention group, including a PA promotion intervention supported by a kinesiologist with the addition of an activity tracker (Fitbit). Cardiometabolic risk variables, PA and motivation were assessed at baseline and after three months. Satisfaction and acceptability of wearin that the use of an activity tracker improves cardiometabolic risk variables in patients with T2D and could potentially be a motivation tool to increase PA in primary care setting.
Our pilot study shows that the use of an activity tracker improves cardiometabolic risk variables in patients with T2D and could potentially be a motivation tool to increase PA in primary care setting.
This paper presents the case study of a health campaign for mobile devices launched in Italy in 2019 aimed at raising viral hepatitis awareness. The research project "
", winner of the 2018 Digital Health Program of Gilead Italia, was carried out by the Italian National Research Council.

The project entailed the development of a free Italian language Progressive Web App (PWA) providing current and scientifically validated information on viral hepatitis (A, B and C).

A mobile first PWA health awareness app was implemented (https//epatite.web.app) together with an Android app version. Diversified landing pages cater to two target audiences general public and schools. An initial campaign was directed toward engaging schools in nine Italian regions.

Preliminary results based on the campaign directed toward Italian schools in just under half of its regions have shown promise on the feasibility of reaching large audiences and encouraging engagement on viral hepatitis prevention. A mobile first approach to health communication is a cost-effective way to help reaching the goal of eradicating viral hepatitis by reducing infections and deaths.
