PURPOSE OF REVIEW Drug checking services invite drug consumers to anonymously submit drug samples for chemical analysis and provide feedback of results. Drugs are tested for strength/dose and/or presence of adulterants. Drug checking appears to be more common in recent years in response to increases in fentanyl-related deaths and the proliferation of new psychoactive substances (NPS). We aim to provide information regarding the current state of drug checking in relation to analysis methods, adulteration rates, and behavioral responses to results. RECENT FINDINGS Various technologies are being used to detect the presence of fentanyl, its analogs, and other NPS in drug samples. Proxy drug checking, which we define as biospecimen testing for drug exposure postconsumption, is also becoming common. However, there appears to a dichotomy between research focusing on populations at high risk for fentanyl exposure and to exposure to NPS such as synthetic cathinones. SUMMARY Drug checking research and services largely focus on opioid consumers and nightclub and dance festival attendees, but more focus may be needed on the general population. Drug checking results can inform surveillance efforts, and more research is needed to overcome barriers to drug checking and to focus on whether test results indeed affect behavior change.BACKGROUND Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) can reduce HIV acquisition among female sex workers (FSW). However, changes in condomless sex frequency after PrEP initiation could reduce PrEP effectiveness when PrEP adherence is suboptimal as well as increase the risk of acquiring other sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Objective measures of condomless sex may be more accurate for determining changes in sexual behavior than self-reported measures. METHODS We longitudinally measured self-reported condom use, number of clients, and presence of Y-chromosomal DNA (Yc-DNA) in vaginal swabs among 267 FSW accessing PrEP at four clinics in Senegal between 2015 and 2016. We assessed trends in sexual behavior over time since PrEP initiation using generalized estimating equations and evaluated predictors of Yc-DNA detection. RESULTS We found no increase in self-reported condomless sex with clients (odds ratio (OR)=0.94; 95% CI [0.89, 1.00]), main partners (OR=0.99; 95% CI [0.96, 1.02]) or Yc-DNA detection (OR=0.99; 95% CI [0.90, 1.08]) over time since initiation. Yc-DNA was detected in 34/154 (22%) of swabs tested and in 15/58 (26%) of swabs from FSW reporting consistent condom use among both clients and main partners. Self-reported condom use with clients or main partners did not predict Yc-DNA detection. CONCLUSIONS In a FSW PrEP demonstration project in Senegal, we found no evidence of risk compensation among FSW on PrEP as measured by self-reported behavior or through Yc-DNA detection. Yc-DNA detection was frequently detected among FSW reporting consistent condom use, highlighting limitations of self-reported sexual behavioral measures.BACKGROUND Extragenital gonorrhea (GC) and chlamydia (CT) are usually asymptomatic and only detected through screening. Ceftriaxone plus azithromycin is the recommended GC treatment; monotherapy (azithromycin or doxycycline) is recommended for CT. In urethral CT-positive/urethral GC-negative persons who are not screened extragenitally, CT monotherapy can lead to GC undertreatment and may foster the development of gonococcal antimicrobial resistance. We assessed urethral and extragenital GC and CT positivity among men who have sex with men (MSM) attending sexually transmitted disease (STD) clinics. METHODS We included visit data for MSM tested for GC and CT at 30 STD clinics in 10 jurisdictions during 1/1/2015-6/30/2019. Using an inverse-variance random effects model to account for heterogeneity between jurisdictions, we calculated weighted test visit positivity estimates and 95% confidence intervals (CI) for GC and CT at urethral and extragenital sites, and extragenital GC among urethral CT-positive/GC-negative test visits. RESULTS Of 139,718 GC and CT test visits, we calculated overall positivity (GC=16.7% [95% CI=14.4-19.1]; CT=13.3% [95% CI=12.7-13.9]); urethral positivity (GC=7.5% [95% CI=5.7-9.3]; CT=5.2% [95% CI=4.6-5.8]); rectal positivity (GC=11.8% [95% CI=10.4-13.2]; CT=12.6% [95% CI=11.8-13.4]); and pharyngeal positivity (GC=9.1% [95% CI=7.9-10.3]; CT=1.8% [95% CI=1.6-2.0]). Of 4,566 urethral CT-positive/GC-negative test visits with extragenital testing, extragenital GC positivity was 12.5% (95% CI=10.9-14.1). CONCLUSION Extragenital GC and CT were common among MSM. Without extragenital screening of MSM with urethral CT, extragenital GC would have been undetected and undertreated in ~13% of these men. Undertreatment could potentially select for antimicrobial resistance. These findings underscore the importance of extragenital screening in MSM.BACKGROUND Black men who have sex with men (BMSM) are disproportionately affected by sexually transmitted infections (STI), including chlamydia and gonorrhea. Transactional sex is one hypothesized risk factor for STI acquisition in BMSM. METHODS We estimated the association of transactional sex with incident chlamydia/gonococcal infection among BMSM using longitudinal data from a randomized trial in Atlanta (2012-2015). BMSM were eligible for inclusion if they tested HIV-antibody negative and reported both ≥2 male sex partners and any condomless anal sex in the last year. We defined chlamydia/gonorrhea incidence as the first occurrence of either rectal or urogenital chlamydia or gonococcal infections after a negative result at enrollment. We used Poisson regression to estimate the incidence rate (IR) for chlamydia/gonorrhea over 12 months. Incidence rate ratios (IRR) compared estimates by reported experience of transactional sex. Subgroup analyses assessed potential heterogeneity by age and sexual identity. Rscreening for marginalized BMSM should be prioritized for STI and HIV prevention.BACKGROUND Pubic hair grooming has been correlated with a self-reported history of sexually transmitted infections (STI). https://www.selleckchem.com/products/penicillin-streptomycin.html We examined this relationship further in a cross-sectional survey of patients attending an urban STI clinic in San Francisco in 2018. METHODS Pubic hair grooming practices and detailed sexual histories were obtained. STIs were confirmed via laboratory diagnosis or physical exam by a licensed provider. RESULTS 314 individuals completed the survey. The median age of participants was 31. In total, there were 247 (80%) men, 58 (19%) women, and five (2%) transgender participants. Of the 247 men, 177 (72%) identified as gay or bisexual. 257/314 (82%) patients reported pubic hair grooming within the past three months. Seventy-eight (25%) patients were diagnosed with a new STI during their visit. There were no significant associations between reporting any anal or genital grooming and being diagnosed with an STI. However, anal groomers were three times as likely to be diagnosed with a rectal STI after adjustment (aOR 3.

Ensure that the groomers are experienced and trained. Many groomers undergo certification programs to demonstrate their capabilities and knowledge of pet tidying. A certified groomer is more likely to deliver high-quality services and ensure your own dog’s safety.

Visit the Tidying Salon
Before booking a consultation, visit the grooming salon to evaluate cleanliness, safety, and how staff members interact with pets. A thoroughly clean, well-organized environment is essential for your dog’s health and safety.

Specialized Services
If your dog has particular grooming needs, such as a one of a kind coat type, medical conditions, or perhaps anxiety issues, make sure the groomer is experienced in coping with those situations. Some groomers specialize in certain breeds or even offer additional services such as anxiety management during combing.

Pricing
Pricing for brushing services can vary depending on the size of your dog, the services required, and also the groomer’s experience. It’s important to compare prices but remember that this cheapest option may not often provide the best care. Focus on the quality of service and the experience of the groomer.

Conclusion

Regular tidying not only keeps your dog fresh but also prevents health issues, boosts their comfort, and encourages a strong bond between you and your furry friend. By choosing a qualified and skilled grooming service, you ensure that your dog receives the best proper care possible, leaving them looking great and feeling better still.
