the risk of clinical disease.The present study was carried out to assess the effects on the ovary of fed female Argas persicus following spraying of the ticks with spores of the fungus Beauveria bassiana suspended in triton X100 at a concentration of 107 conidia/mL. Scanning and transmission electron microscopy observations provided evidence that B. bassiana invaded the ovary, causing extensive morphological damage and deterioration of the developing oocytes. Destruction of the shape and internal organelles of young and previtellogenic oocytes and complete inhibition of vitellogenesis was evident. This histopathological study is the first demonstration of ultrastructural damage in the ovaries of A. persicus after infection with B. bassiana. The data presented confirm that B. bassiana affects the ovary either directly by entering the oocytes and/or indirectly by producing toxins in the haemolymph that interfere with the development of oocytes, thus potentially contributing to the control of this tick in a way that is safe for its host and the environment.Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) is an emerging infectious disease with high case fatality rate (CFR). Alcohol consumption which impairs host immunity and contributes to tissue damage in a variety of organs may be a predisposing factor of fatal outcome in SFTS. We aimed to determine the role of alcohol consumption on the fatal outcome of SFTS. Patients with laboratory-diagnosed SFTS who were admitted to the Jinan Infectious Disease Hospital, Jinan, China, between January 2011 and November 2018 were evaluated. Demographic, clinical, and laboratory data were recorded. Alcohol consumption was evaluated. The association between a fatal outcome and each demographic, clinical, and laboratory variable with alcohol consumption was assessed. A total of 694 patients with SFTS were identified during the study period. The overall CFR was 20.9 % (95 % CI 17.9 %-23.9 %). The CFR in non/light drinkers (0-98 g/week) and moderate/heavy drinkers (>98 g/week) was 18.3 % and 35.6 %, respectively (P 60 and alcohol consumption was a significant determinant for death in both genders (F=10.18, P = 0.001). The clinical manifestation, laboratory parameters, and organ injury were significantly extensive and severe in moderate and heavy drinkers. In conclusion, hazardous alcohol consumption and aging synergistically increase the risk of death in patients with SFTS. In SFTS endemic areas, it is important for older individuals to minimize the exposure risks and abstain from alcohol.Tickborne diseases are an increasing public health concern in the United States, where the majority of notifiable cases are caused by pathogens vectored by Ixodes ticks. To better monitor changes in acarological risk of human encounters with these ticks and their associated pathogens, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently established a national tick and tickborne pathogen surveillance program. Here, we describe and evaluate a new Multiplex PCR Amplicon Sequencing (MPAS) assay for potential use in surveillance programs targeting two common human-biting vector ticks, Ixodes scapularis and Ixodes pacificus. The ability of the MPAS assay to detect five Ixodes-associated human pathogens (Borrelia burgdorferi sensu stricto, Borrelia mayonii, Borrelia miyamotoi, Anaplasma phagocytophilum and Babesia microti) was compared to that of a previously published and routinely used probe-based (TaqMan) PCR testing algorithm for pathogen detection in Ixodes ticks. Assay performance comparisons included a set of 175 host-seeking Ixodes nymphs collected in Connecticut as well as DNA from our pathogen reference collection. The MPAS assay and the CDC standard TaqMan PCR pathogen testing algorithm were found to have equivalent detection sensitivity for Ixodes-associated human pathogens. However, the MPAS assay was able to detect a broader range of tick-associated microorganisms, more effectively detected co-infections of multiple pathogens in a single tick (including different species within the Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato complex), and required a smaller volume of test sample (thus preserving more sample for future testing).In recent years, the spectrum and epidemiology of human rickettsioses has become an emerging topic in Chile. This hard-bodied tick species is expanding its historical range from the Gulf Coast of the U.S. up the Mid-Atlantic coast. In Mid-Atlantic states, such as Virginia, R. parkeri prevalence is higher in these ticks than those found in its historical range. This high prevalence may be explained in part by small mammal populations. In this study, small mammals were trapped and checked for the presence of immature A. maculatum. The ticks as well as tissue samples from these mammals were tested for the presence of R. parkeri. This study found six rodent species acting as hosts to immature A. maculatum and three species that may play a role in the enzootic cycle of R. parkeri in Virginia.

For overall water splitting, with NiFe LDH/NiCoP@NC/NF as the anode and NiCoP@NC/NF as the cathode, the assembled two-electrode system only required 1.54 V to obtain a stable current density of 10 mA cm-2 in 1 M KOH for at least 40 h. This research provided a simple and facile way to develop non-noble-metal oxygen evolution catalysts for replacing high-cost noble metal catalysts.We compare the predictions of our recently developed statistical molecular fragmentation (SMF) model with experimental results from plasma induced hydrocarbon decay. The SMF model is an exactly solvable statistical model, able to calculate the probabilities for all possible fragmentation channels as a function of the deposited excitation energy. The weights of the channels are calculated from the corresponding volume of the accessible phase space of the system, taking into account all relevant degeneracies, symmetries and density functions. An experiment designed to study the abatement of propene in N2 using a photo-triggered discharge producing a homogeneous plasma at sub-atmospheric pressure was also performed. Using a 0D model that simulates the complex chemical kinetics in the plasma, it was possible to assess the percentages of the original parent hydrocarbon's fragmentation channels based on the detected species. These results were compared to those obtained from the SMF model. Previous plasma induced hydrocarbon fragmentation experiments for ethene, ethane and propane, were also compared to the predictions of the SMF model. For energies below that of metastable dinitrogen (i.e. below 6.17 eV and 8.4 eV), the SMF model and the experimental fragmentation channels coincide. This study allows one to draw conclusions both on the range of excitation energies transferred to the parent hydrocarbon molecules during plasma discharge and on the probability of the dynamical coupling of two H atoms from neighbouring carbon atoms to form H2 molecules.Fluorocarbons have been shown experimentally by Baker and coworkers to combine with the cyclopentadienylcobalt (CpCo) moiety to form fluoroolefin and fluorocarbene complexes as well as fluorinated cobaltacyclic rings. In this connection density functional theory (DFT) studies on the cyclopentadienylcobalt fluorocarbon complexes CpCo(L)(CnF2n) (L = CO, PMe3; n = 3 and 4) indicate structures with perfluoroolefin ligands to be the lowest energy structures followed by perfluorometallacycle structures and finally by structures with perfluorocarbene ligands. Thus, for the CpCo(L)(C3F6) (L = CO, PMe3) complexes, the perfluoropropene structure has the lowest energy, followed by the perfluorocobaltacyclobutane structure and the perfluoroisopropylidene structure less stable by 8 to 11 kcal mol-1, and the highest energy perfluoropropylidene structure less stable by more than 12 kcal mol-1. For the two metal carbene structures Cp(L)Co[double bond, length as m-dash]C(CF3)2 and Cp(L)Co[double bond, length as m-dash]CF(C2F5), the former is more stable than the latter, even though the latter has Fischer carbene character. For the CpCo(L)(C4F8) (L = CO, PMe3) complexes, the perfluoroolefin complex structures have the lowest energies, followed by the perfluorometallacycle structures at 10 to 20 kcal mol-1, and the structures with perfluorocarbene ligands at yet higher energies more than 20 kcal mol-1 above the lowest energy structure. This is consistent with the experimentally observed isomerization of the perfluorinated cobaltacyclobutane complexes CpCo(PPh2Me)(-CFR-CF2-CF2-) (R = F, CF3) to the perfluoroolefin complexes CpCo(PPh2Me)(RCF[double bond, length as m-dash]CF2) in the presence of catalytic quantities of HN(SO2CF3)2. Further refinement of the relative energies by the state-of-the-art DLPNO-CCSD(T) method gives results essentially consistent with the DFT results summarized above.The long stagnation of the photo-conversion efficiency of kesterites below 13% is a source of frustration in the scientific community. In this study, we investigated the effects of sodium on the passivation of grain boundaries and defects in Cu2ZnSnSe4 (CZTSe) grown on a soda-lime glass (SLG) and borosilicate (BS) glass. During the process, the molecular linker of cysteamine, possessing one amino group for chelating with the CUSs of the MOF and one thiol group as a docking site to anchor metal ions, plays a prominent role in enhancing interfacial interactions between the MOF and metal ions.

This study investigated the relationship between sustainable development and crude oil revenue (COR) in selected oil-producing African countries from 1992-2017 using the Pooled Mean Group (PMG) estimators on panel autoregressive distributed lag model (ARDL). Sustainable development was measured with the Human Development Index (HDI). This study was significant for Africa to break away from fiscal over-dependence on natural resource revenue, especially crude oil due to its high volatility and to correct porous institutional outlook. The a priori expectation is that crude oil revenue will tank so much that many countries will record negative positions and might not be to meet fiscal demands in the long run if the situation is protracted. Empirical results revealed that there was no long-term relationship between COR and sustainable development. In other words, the results suggest that any changes to COR have a potential negative effect on sustainable development in the selected countries. This implies over-reliance on COR will impact the economies negatively in the long run. This finding, therefore, requires an immediate fiscal intervention on spending on sustainable development drivers such as education, health, agriculture cum adoption diversification policy, and veritable supply-side policies that could avert the possibility of these negative effects and to correct traits of ineffective public institution. The absence of such policy interventions in these countries seems to be related to ineffective public institution and bad governance, culminating from poor, ineffective, and inefficient implementation.Background Brief counseling and self-monitoring with a pedometer are common practice within primary care for physical activity promotion. It is unknown how high-tech electronic activity monitors compare to pedometers within this setting. This study aimed to investigate the outcomes, through effect size estimation, of an electronic activity monitor-based intervention to increase physical activity and decrease cardiovascular disease risk. Method The pilot randomized controlled trial was pre-registered online at clinicaltrials.gov (NCT02554435). Forty overweight, sedentary participants 55-74 years of age were randomized to wear a pedometer or an electronic activity monitor for 12 weeks. Physical activity was measured objectively for 7 days at baseline and follow-up by a SenseWear monitor and cardiovascular disease risk was estimated by the Framingham risk calculator. Results Effect sizes for behavioral and health outcomes ranged from small to medium. While these effect sizes were favorable to the intervention group for physical activity (PA) (d = 0.78) and general health (d = 0.39), they were not favorable for measures. Conclusion The results of this pilot trial show promise for this low-intensity intervention strategy, but large-scale trials are needed to test its efficacy.There are limited intravenous fosfomycin disodium (IVFOS) dosing regimens to treat carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales (CRE) infections. This study aimed to use Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) for evaluation of IVFOS dosing regimens in critically ill patients with CRE infections. The dosing regimens in critically ill patients with various creatinine clearance were evaluated with MCS using minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) distributions of fosfomycin against CRE clinical isolates in Thailand and the 24 h area under the plasma drug concentration-time curve over the minimum inhibitory concentration (AUC0-24/MIC) of ≥21.5 to be a target for IVFOS. The achieved goal of the probability of target attainment (PTA) and a cumulative fraction of response (CFR) were ≥90%. A total of 129 non-duplicated CRE clinical isolates had MIC distributions from 0.38 to >1024 mg/L. IVFOS 8 g every 8 h, 1 h, or 4 h infusion, could achieve approximately 90% PTA of AUC0-24/MIC target to treat CRE infections with MICs ≤ 128 mg/L. According to PTA target, an IVFOS daily dose to treat carbapenem-resistant Escherichia coli based on Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) breakpoints for urinary tract infections and one to treatment for CRE infections based on the European Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (EUCAST) breakpoints were 16 g/day and 8 g/day, respectively. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/sacituzumab-govitecan.html dosing regimens of IVFOS against CRE achieved CFR ≤ 70%. Recent advances in mapping protein-protein interaction networks by means of mass spectrometry-based interactomics have enabled the identification of host targets at large-scale. In this review, we highlight mass spectrometry-driven proteomics strategies and recent advances to elucidate type-III secretion system effector-host protein-protein interactions. Furthermore, we highlight approaches for defining spatial and temporal effector-host interactions, and discuss possible avenues for studying natively delivered effectors in the context of infection. Overall, the knowledge gained when unravelling effector complexation with host factors will provide novel opportunities to control infectious disease outcomes.The effect of Mn on the microstructure and mechanical properties of as-extruded Mg-0.5Sr alloy were discussed in this work. The results showed that high Mn alloying (2 wt.%) could significantly improve the mechanical properties of the alloys, namely, the tensile and compressive yield strength. The grain size of as-extruded Mg-0.5Sr alloys significantly was refined from 2.78 μm to 1.15 μm due to the pinning effect by fine α-Mn precipitates during the extrusion. Moreover we showed that the tensile yield strength and the compressive yield strength of Mg-0.5Sr-2Mn alloy were 32 and 40 percent age higher than those of Mg-0.5Sr alloy, respectively. Moreover, the strain hardening behaviors of the Mg-0.5Sr-2Mn alloy were discussed, which proved that a large number of small grains and texture have an important role in improving mechanical properties.

For the two metal carbene structures Cp(L)Co[double bond, length as m-dash]C(CF3)2 and Cp(L)Co[double bond, length as m-dash]CF(C2F5), the former is more stable than the latter, even though the latter has Fischer carbene character. For the CpCo(L)(C4F8) (L = CO, PMe3) complexes, the perfluoroolefin complex structures have the lowest energies, followed by the perfluorometallacycle structures at 10 to 20 kcal mol-1, and the structures with perfluorocarbene ligands at yet higher energies more than 20 kcal mol-1 above the lowest energy structure. This study investigated the relationship between sustainable development and crude oil revenue (COR) in selected oil-producing African countries from 1992-2017 using the Pooled Mean Group (PMG) estimators on panel autoregressive distributed lag model (ARDL). Sustainable development was measured with the Human Development Index (HDI). This study was significant for Africa to break away from fiscal over-dependence on natural resource revenue, especially crude oil due to its high volatility and to correct porous institutional outlook. The a priori expectation is that crude oil revenue will tank so much that many countries will record negative positions and might not be to meet fiscal demands in the long run if the situation is protracted. Empirical results revealed that there was no long-term relationship between COR and sustainable development. In other words, the results suggest that any changes to COR have a potential negative effect on sustainable development in the selected countries. This implies over-reliance on COR will impact the economies negatively in the long run. This finding, therefore, requires an immediate fiscal intervention on spending on sustainable development drivers such as education, health, agriculture cum adoption diversification policy, and veritable supply-side policies that could avert the possibility of these negative effects and to correct traits of ineffective public institution. The absence of such policy interventions in these countries seems to be related to ineffective public institution and bad governance, culminating from poor, ineffective, and inefficient implementation.Background Brief counseling and self-monitoring with a pedometer are common practice within primary care for physical activity promotion. It is unknown how high-tech electronic activity monitors compare to pedometers within this setting. This study aimed to investigate the outcomes, through effect size estimation, of an electronic activity monitor-based intervention to increase physical activity and decrease cardiovascular disease risk. Method The pilot randomized controlled trial was pre-registered online at clinicaltrials.gov (NCT02554435). Forty overweight, sedentary participants 55-74 years of age were randomized to wear a pedometer or an electronic activity monitor for 12 weeks. Physical activity was measured objectively for 7 days at baseline and follow-up by a SenseWear monitor and cardiovascular disease risk was estimated by the Framingham risk calculator. Results Effect sizes for behavioral and health outcomes ranged from small to medium. While these effect sizes were favorable to the intervention group for physical activity (PA) (d = 0.78) and general health (d = 0.39), they were not favorable for measures. Conclusion The results of this pilot trial show promise for this low-intensity intervention strategy, but large-scale trials are needed to test its efficacy.There are limited intravenous fosfomycin disodium (IVFOS) dosing regimens to treat carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales (CRE) infections. This study aimed to use Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) for evaluation of IVFOS dosing regimens in critically ill patients with CRE infections. The dosing regimens in critically ill patients with various creatinine clearance were evaluated with MCS using minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) distributions of fosfomycin against CRE clinical isolates in Thailand and the 24 h area under the plasma drug concentration-time curve over the minimum inhibitory concentration (AUC0-24/MIC) of ≥21.5 to be a target for IVFOS. The achieved goal of the probability of target attainment (PTA) and a cumulative fraction of response (CFR) were ≥90%. A total of 129 non-duplicated CRE clinical isolates had MIC distributions from 0.38 to >1024 mg/L. IVFOS 8 g every 8 h, 1 h, or 4 h infusion, could achieve approximately 90% PTA of AUC0-24/MIC target to treat CRE infections with MICs ≤ 128 mg/L. Furthermore, we highlight approaches for defining spatial and temporal effector-host interactions, and discuss possible avenues for studying natively delivered effectors in the context of infection. Overall, the knowledge gained when unravelling effector complexation with host factors will provide novel opportunities to control infectious disease outcomes.The effect of Mn on the microstructure and mechanical properties of as-extruded Mg-0.5Sr alloy were discussed in this work. The results showed that high Mn alloying (2 wt.%) could significantly improve the mechanical properties of the alloys, namely, the tensile and compressive yield strength. The grain size of as-extruded Mg-0.5Sr alloys significantly was refined from 2.78 μm to 1.15 μm due to the pinning effect by fine α-Mn precipitates during the extrusion. Moreover we showed that the tensile yield strength and the compressive yield strength of Mg-0.5Sr-2Mn alloy were 32 and 40 percent age higher than those of Mg-0.5Sr alloy, respectively. Moreover, the strain hardening behaviors of the Mg-0.5Sr-2Mn alloy were discussed, which proved that a large number of small grains and texture have an important role in improving mechanical properties.

The participation of microbial metabolites in disorders of bioenergetic processes in mitochondria has been revealed, but their influence on the mitochondrial membrane permeability has not yet been studied. We tested the influence of various groups of microbial metabolites, including indolic and phenolic acids, trimethylamine-N-oxide (TMAO) and acetyl phosphate (AcP), on the nonspecific permeability of mitochondrial membranes under conditions of acidosis, imbalance of calcium ions and excess free iron, which are inherent in sepsis. Changes in the parameters of the calcium-induced opening of the mitochondrial permeability transition pore (MPTP) and iron-activated swelling of rat liver mitochondria were evaluated. The most active metabolites were indole-3-carboxylic acid (ICA) and benzoic acid (BA), which activated MPTP opening and swelling under all conditions. AcP showed the opposite effect on the induction of MPTP opening, increasing the threshold concentration of calcium by 1.5 times, while TMAO activated swelling only under acidification. All the redox-dependent effects of metabolites were suppressed by the lipid radical scavenger butyl-hydroxytoluene (BHT), which indicates the participation of these microbial metabolites in the activation of membrane lipid peroxidation. Thus, microbial metabolites can directly affect the nonspecific permeability of mitochondrial membranes, if conditions of acidosis, an imbalance of calcium ions and an excess of free iron are created in the pathological state.In recent years, significant work has been done in technological enhancements for mobility aids (smart walkers). However, most of this work does not cover the millions of people who have both mobility and visual impairments. In this paper, we design and study four different configurations of smart walkers that are specifically targeted to the needs of this population. We investigated different sensing technologies (ultrasound-based, infrared depth cameras and RGB cameras with advanced computer vision processing), software configurations, and user interface modalities (haptic and audio signal based). Our experiments show that there are several engineering choices that can be used in the design of such assistive devices. Furthermore, we found that a holistic evaluation of the end-to-end performance of the systems is necessary, as the quality of the user interface often has a larger impact on the overall performance than increases in the sensing accuracy beyond a certain point.Our aims are to assess various colistin dosing regimens against Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. aeruginosa) infection in critically ill patients and to propose an appropriate regimen based on microbiological data. A Monte Carlo simulation was performed using the published colistin's pharmacokinetic parameters of critically ill patients, the published pharmacodynamic target from a mouse thigh infection model, and the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) results from a Vietnamese hospital. The probability of target attainment (PTA) of 80% and cumulative fraction of response (CFR) of 90% were used to evaluate the efficacy of each regimen. Of 121 P. aeruginosa laboratory datasets, the carbapenem-resistant P. aeruginosa (CRPA) and the colistin-resistant P. aeruginosa rates were 29.8% and 0.8%, respectively. MIC50,90 were both 0.5 mg/L. The simulated results showed that at MIC of 2 mg/L, most regimens could not reach the PTA target, particularly in patients with normal renal function (Creatinine clearance (CrCl) ≥ 80 mL/min). At MIC of 0.5 mg/L and 1 mg/L, current recommendations still worked well. On the basis of these results, aside from lung infection, our study recommends three regimens against P. aeruginosa infection at MIC of 0.5 mg/L, 1 mg/L, and 2 mg/L. In conclusion, higher total daily doses and fractionated colistin dosing regimens could be the strategy for difficult-to-acquire PTA cases, while a less aggressive dose might be appropriate for empirical treatment in settings with low MIC50/90.The fastest growing demographic in the U.S. at the present time is those aged 65 years and older. To this end, unlike conventional approaches to control the pore of carbon hosts, we demonstrate controlling the interfacial energy of the solution in the process of penetrating the sulfur-dissolved solution. We unveil, experimentally and theoretically, that the interfacial energy with the carbon surface of the sulfur solution is the key to driving complete encapsulation of sulfur. In the infiltration of sulfur solutions with N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone, we achieve complete encapsulation of sulfur, even up to 85 wt %. The sulfur fully encapsulated cathode achieves markedly high volumetric capacity and stable cycle operation in its Li-S battery applications. We achieve a volumetric capacity of 855 mAh/cm3 at 0.2C and a capacity reduction of 0.071% per cycle up to 300 cycles at 1C.Background The safety and efficacy of convalescent plasma in severe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) remain uncertain. To support a guideline on COVID-19 management, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of convalescent plasma in COVID-19 and other severe respiratory viral infections. Methods In March 2020, we searched international and Chinese biomedical literature databases, clinical trial registries and prepublication sources for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and nonrandomized studies comparing patients receiving and not receiving convalescent plasma. We included patients with acute coronavirus, influenza and Ebola virus infections. We conducted a meta-analysis using random-effects models and assessed the quality of evidence using the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) approach. Results Of 1099 unique records, 6 studies were eligible, and none of these included patients with COVID-19. One nonrandomized study (n = 40) on convalescent plasma in severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV) provided uninformative results regarding mortality (relative risk [RR] 0.10, 95% confidence interval [CI] CI 0.01 to 1.70). Pooled estimates from 4 RCTs on influenza (n = 572) showed no convincing effects on deaths (4 RCTs, RR 0.94, 95% CI 0.49 to 1.81), complete recovery (2 RCTs, odds ratio 1.04, 95% CI 0.69 to 1.64) or length of stay (3 RCTs, mean difference -1.62, 95% CI -3.82 to 0.58, d). The quality of evidence was very low for all efficacy outcomes. Convalescent plasma caused few or no serious adverse events in influenza RCTs (RR 0.85, 95% CI 0.56 to 1.29, low-quality evidence). Interpretation Studies of non- COVID-19 severe respiratory viral infections provide indirect, very low-quality evidence that raises the possibility that convalescent plasma has minimal or no benefit in the treatment of COVID-19 and low-quality evidence that it does not cause serious adverse events.Background Estimates of the casefatality rate (CFR) associated with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vary widely in different population settings. We sought to estimate and compare the COVID-19 CFR in Canada and the United States while adjusting for 2 potential biases in crude CFR. Methods We used the daily incidence of confirmed COVID-19 cases and deaths in Canada and the US from Jan. 31 to Apr. 22, 2020. We applied a statistical method to minimize bias in the crude CFR by accounting for the survival interval as the lag time between disease onset and death, while considering reporting rates of COVID-19 cases less than 50% (95% confidence interval 10%-50%). Results Using data for confirmed cases in Canada, we estimated the crude CFR to be 4.9% on Apr. 22, 2020, and the adjusted CFR to be 5.5% (credible interval [CrI] 4.9%-6.4%). After we accounted for various reporting rates less than 50%, the adjusted CFR was estimated at 1.6% (CrI 0.7%-3.1%). The US crude CFR was estimated to be 5.4% on Apr. 20, 2020, with an adjusted CFR of 6.1% (CrI 5.4%-6.9%). With reporting rates of less than 50%, the adjusted CFR for the US was 1.78 (CrI 0.8%-3.6%). Interpretation Our estimates suggest that, if the reporting rate is less than 50%, the adjusted CFR of COVID-19 in Canada is likely to be less than 2%. The CFR estimates for the US were higher than those for Canada, but the adjusted CFR still remained below 2%.
