Last week, the Pennsylvania Senate passed a major tax cut, which could become the largest tax cut in Pennsylvania history.
Senate Bill (SB) 269, an initiative to bring relief to all Pennsylvanians, passed the Senate with a bipartisan 36-to-14 vote.
SB 269, which would substantially drop personal income taxes and lower electricity bills, starkly contrasts Gov. Josh Shapiro’s proposed 2024–25 budget. The governor’s spending plan is an expensive wish list that includes corporate and transit bailouts.
Shapiro's budget could cost Pennsylvania families as much as $2,000 annually, leaving them open to future tax hikes.
