We often hear about billions and trillions being spent, but it's hard to truly grasp how immense those numbers are. Here are some comparisons to help put it in perspective:
1 billion seconds is about 31.7 years.
1 billion dollar bills laid end to end would stretch 96,900 miles, enough to wrap around the Earth almost four times.
If you spent $1,000 every day, it would take you 2,740 years to spend 1 billion dollars.
Meanwhile, the U.S. government spends $3 billion a day just to cover interest on the $35.4 trillion national debt. Conversations around this issue don’t get nearly as much attention as divisive topics like immigration or the culture wars.
Debt is unsustainable, and history shows us that unchecked spending has toppled many empires. With the dollar’s future at stake, focusing on fiscal responsibility is more critical than ever.
