In the early morning of October 7th 2023 the unrepresented attack on Israel's borders by Hamas and Palestine Islamic Jihad shook the world. Hundreds of Hamas terrorists breached the border fences in multiple places. They infiltrated a significant number of dry land outposts as well as a Naval infiltration point, in Zikim. An official IDF statement clocks Israel actively engaged in combat in 22 outposts. The current reported death toll is rising with 750 murdered and thousands more injured. Two of Israel's elite commanders as well as officers have been killed and Americans have been taken captive along with Israeli women and children. It wasn't long before this horrific event was labeled "Israel's 9/11" and "The greatest Intelligence failure in Israeli history."  How does the country with arguably the most secure borders and extensive well-funded intelligence in the world miss such a large-scale operation? 

 The border fence between Gaza and Israel is equipped with state-of-the-art cameras, ground motion sensors, and army patrols. The "smart barrier" barbed wire-topped fences are placed to specifically prevent this type of infiltration. In 2021, Israel carried out a successful deployment of underground barriers with sensors to alert on these specific types of breaches. Somehow, Hamas was able to enter by bulldozing and cutting through the fence. Mossad has been well known for its precisely timed assassinations of militant leaders. It has informants and agents inside Palestinian militant groups as well as Lebanon and Syria. Its Intel capabilities are unrivaled. How could an attack that required such coordination, stockpiling, and involving thousands of rockets somehow slide under not only Israeli radar but also the United States and the UK?

It has been reported that Israeli defense forces which were supposed to be around Gaza, at the time of the attack, had been relocated to the West Bank due to security concerns. This left Gaza around 60 to 80 percent vulnerable without military defense. There are also reports that the Egyptian Intelligence Minister called Netanyahu just ten days prior to the attack and warned him of "something unusual, a terrible operation" that was about to take place from Gaza. 

It is noteworthy to point out that this massive intelligence failure and the subsequent invasion draw an inevitable parallel to the September 11th attacks in the United States. Are these attacks a result of a nefarious connection between the Israeli government and Hamas, similar to the CIA's early sponsorship of Al-Qaeda?
