🍟 Ultra-processed Foods May Speed Up Aging — And They’re Addictive

Ultra-processed foods (UPFs) can accelerate aging and the decline of your body’s health, even if you generally eat healthy foods, say Italian researchers in a new report based on the largest population study of its kind in Europe.

And it’s not necessarily for the reason you might think: It may be due more to the potentially harmful ways these foods are highly processed and packaged by industry than their poor nutritional content.

Making UPFs typically involves high-temperature cooking, among other processes, that can expose our bodies to toxic chemicals and plastics.
