As a result, the evolved technique can be used in the textile knitting industry to ensure that accurate specifications are met the first time.A novel thioesterse gene was successfully cloned and sequenced directly from natural sample of Domas Hot Spring, West Java, Indonesia. Homological analysis of the sequence showed that the gene appeared high homology to thioesterase genes with the highest to a putative thioesterase gene from uncultured Acidilobus sp. JCHS at 66% identity. However, phylogenetic analysis showed that the protein was separated from the branch with other known thioesterases. The size of the gene is around 500 base pairs, lied into 2 kb DNA fragment from a random PCR amplicon. The gene was overexpressed in Escherichia coli, a dominant band appeared at 17 kDa in SDS-PAGE with expression level at around 32% of total proteins. The activity of the purified protein using acetyl-CoA as substrate showed that the protein exhibited thioesterase activity. Furthermore, the enzyme also showed esterase activity on p-nitrophenyl ester as substrate. Detail characterization of esterolytic activity showed that the enzyme preferred p-nitrophenyl decanoate as substrate. The optimum activity of the enzyme was at 80 °C and pH 8. Activity of the enzyme was maintained after incubation at 80 °C up to 24 h. In addition, the enzyme was favorable on polar organic solvents. All the data obtained suggested that the enzyme is a novel alkaline thermostable thioesterase.Poor bioavailability has been reported as a major challenge in the development of curcumin as a pharmaceutical agent. However, co-administration of curcumin with piperine has been shown to improve curcumin bioavailability. Therefore, to assure product control quality, an analytical method needs to be developed for the determination of curcumin and piperine content in a dosage form formulation. The objective of this study was to develop a simple isocratic reversed-phase HPLC (RP-HPLC) method to simultaneously quantify curcumin and piperine content in solid dispersion based microparticle formulation containing Curcuma longa and Piper nigrum extracts. The method was validated according to the International Council for Harmonization (ICH) guideline. Chromatographic separation of three curcuminoids and piperine could be achieved using acetonitrile-methanol-water of 65535 %, at a flow rate of 1 mL/min and a wavelength of 353 nm for detection. Resolution (Rs) of 3.57 and 1.68 for piperine and curcumin, respectively, a theoretical plate number (N) > 8000 and a tailing factor (T) 0.999. The intra-day/inter-day accuracy and precision demonstrated a recovery of 99.54-101.50%/99.38-99.89% and 100.78-102.51%/101.15-102.47% with a Relative Standard Deviation (RSD) of 0.53-0.95%/0.13-1.44 % and 0.28-1.62%/0.46-1.14% for piperine/curcumin. The limit of detection (LOD) were 0.27 and 0.42 μg/mL, for piperine and curcumin, which reveals an adequate sensitivity. A solid dispersion based microparticle formulation containing C. longa and P. nigrum extracts confirmed the validity of the developed method as a recovery of 91.14% and 99.14% for piperine and curcumin, respectively. In conclusion, all the tested parameters confirm the precision, accuracy, and reliability of the method for the simultaneous analysis of curcumin and piperine within a microparticle formulation containing C. longa and P. nigrum extracts.This theoretical article offers a diachronic analysis that is a rebuttal of ontological hegemony of disability as negative. The aim of this article is to demonstrate that Basotho ontology of disability portrays an ubuntu cultural acceptance of people with disabilities as equally human as all human beings. A purposive focus group sample of ten parents of youth with intellectual disability discussed the proverb and shared their experiences of raising a child with disability; and, what the proverb Sehole ho 'Ma-sona ha se lahloe mean to them? The qualitative data from the focus group was used to support the theoretical adaptation of Basotho ontology in revising the current understanding of disability. The themes reported in this article are experiences of raising a child with intellectual disability and a child's love begins with a parent.Gallic acid, active constituent of amla fruit its natural abundance with beneficial multi actions in body make them attractive for clinical applications. In present study, we focused on extracting, separating and characterizing gallic acid from amla and further formulated into chitosan nanoparticles, so bring it to increase its aqueous solubility and thereby bioactivity. Gallic acid nanoparticles were prepared by using poloxamer 407, chitosan and Glyceryl Monooleate (GMO) using probe sonicator and high pressure homogenization method. Prepared nanoparticles were characterized by particle size, zeta potential, DSC, XRD, SEM, entrapment efficiency, loading content, in-vitro release and stability study. The World Health Organization indicates that hydration is indispensable to human life. A long-period of dehydration can result in fatigue, drowsiness and mental confusion which can result in committing serious blunders. For commercial drivers, however, these blunders can be life-threatening and their hydration cannot be overemphasized.

This study was therefore undertaken to assess the water intake practices of Commercial Long-Distance drivers (CLDDs). The study was also aimed at assessing their knowledge levels on the role of water in promoting a healthy body and the consequences of dehydration.

CLDDs in Ghana who ply between Accra - Cape Coast - Takoradi or Accra - Kumasi.

A cross-sectional study which involved 256 CLDDs was conducted at six (6) commercial bus stations in Accra and Cape Coast from December 2019 to January 2020. Structured questionnaires were administered to obtain socio-demographic and water intake practices of CLDDs. SPSS was used to generate descriptive statistics based on the data collected.
