The Russian defense ministry has accused Ukrainian and Western media of spreading fakes as part of a global smear campaign after a video allegedly showing dead bodies left by the Russian troops in the town of Bucha near Kiev went viral.
In a slowed down version of the video one can clearly see how a "corpse" on the right side of the road moves his hand and then sits up after the car passes by (seen in the rear mirror), the ministry said.
The Russian troops have left the city on March 30 to re-locate to Donbas after finishing the first stage of the operation, the ministry said. Civilian casualties were caused by the Ukrainian artillery fire at the moving Russian troops.
The misinformation is used by Kiev to justify asking for more weapons deliveries from the West, the ministry explains.
