In this paper, the authors present an evaluation of the electromagnetic fields generated by a static wireless charging system designed for an electric kick scooter on the human biological tissue. The guidelines on the exposure to the electromagnetic fields are previously specified. In this work, a model is designed under COMSOL multi-physics to study the effects of the magnetic field on two possible body parts of a person, which might be exposed to this field, namely the head and the hands is analysed. The magnetic flux density, the induced electrical field, the specific absorption rate, and the resulting increase of temperature of biological tissues are modelled and compared to the limits and guidelines prescribed in the regulation established to limit the exposure of people to electromagnetic fields. Furthermore, the used wireless charging system is modified to operate at higher frequencies to study its effect. The obtained results are below the guidelines and limits of exposure to the electromagnetic fields specified by the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection, European Commission, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and International Electrotechnical Commission.The prominent desmoplastic stroma of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a determinant factor in tumor progression and a major barrier to the access of chemotherapy. The PDAC microenvironment therefore appears to be a promising therapeutic target. CCN2/CTGF is a profibrotic matricellular protein, highly present in the PDAC microenvironment and associated with disease progression. Here we have investigated the therapeutic value of the CCN2-targeting BLR100 and BLR200, two modified synthetic peptides derived from active regions of CCN3, an endogenous inhibitor of CCN2. In a murine orthotopic PDAC model, the two peptides, administered as monotherapy at low doses (approximating physiological levels of CCN3), had tumor inhibitory activity that increased with the dose. The peptides affected the tumor microenvironment, inhibiting fibrosis and vessel formation and reducing necrosis. Both peptides were active in preventing ascites formation. An increased activity was obtained in combination regimens, administering BLR100 or BLR200 with the chemotherapeutic drug gemcitabine. Pharmacokinetic analysis indicated that the improved activity of the combination was not mainly determined by the substantial increase in gemcitabine delivery to tumors, suggesting other effects on the tumor microenvironment. The beneficial remodeling of the tumor stroma supports the potential value of these CCN3-derived peptides for targeting pathways regulated by CCN2 in PDAC.Migrant workers are an important human resource for economic and social development. Considering the government's goal of serving and improving people's livelihoods, improving the happiness of migrant workers is necessary. This study investigates in-depth the impact of the conversion of household registration on migrant workers' happiness, which is represented by a multi-dimensional comprehensive index based on the propensity matching score model and data from the China Migrants Dynamic Survey (CMDS) in 2017. Moreover, this study explores the different effects of conversion among the groups divided by the characteristics of migrant workers. The results show that from an overall perspective, although the conversion of household registration could improve the happiness of migrant workers, the degree of this improvement is minor. Further, the characteristics of the different groups, including age, educational background, contracted land, collective dividends, and income significantly affect the improvement of happiness. The conversion of household registration has obviously improved the happiness of migrant workers with low educational backgrounds, low income, and contracted land. Based on these findings, the government should take more targeted actions to improve the positive effects of household registration among different migrant worker groups due to the different characteristics in the process of household registration system reform.To explore the influence of fly ash (FA) and silica fume (SF) on the mechanical properties of self-compacting concrete (SCC) under uniaxial and triaxial, the compressive strength test, splitting strength test, ultrasonic testing test, and triaxial test were performed in this paper. The results show that the 3 days compressive strength and splitting strength of SCC decreased with the increase of FA substitution rate. The 28 days, 56 days, and 91 days compressive strength and splitting strength of SCC increased first and then decreased with the increase of FA substitution rate. The peak stress and peak strain of SCC gradually increased with the increase of confining pressure. The peak stress and strain of SCC increased first and then decreased with the increase of FA substitution rate. Under uniaxial stress, SCC failure mode is splitting failure, under triaxial stress, SCC failure mode is shear failure. Based on the Mohr-Coulomb strength theory, the failure criterion of SCC with FA and SF was discussed.BACKGROUND Growing evidence suggests that an altered microbiota composition contributes to the pathogenesis and clinical features in celiac disease (CD). We performed a comparative analysis of the gut microbiota in adulthood CD to evaluate whether (i) dysbiosis anticipates mucosal lesions, (ii) gluten-free diet restores eubiosis, (iii) refractory CD has a peculiar microbial signature, and (iv) salivary and fecal communities overlap the mucosal one. METHODS This is a cross-sectional study where a total of 52 CD patients, including 13 active CD, 29 treated CD, 4 refractory CD, and 6 potential CD, were enrolled in a tertiary center together with 31 controls. A 16S rRNA-based amplicon metagenomics approach was applied to determine the microbiota structure and composition of salivary, duodenal mucosa, and stool samples, followed by appropriate bioinformatic analyses. RESULTS A reduction of both α- and β-diversity in CD, already evident in the potential form and achieving nadir in refractory CD, was evident. Taxonomically, mucosa displayed a significant abundance of Proteobacteria and an expansion of Neisseria, especially in active patients, while treated celiacs showed an intermediate profile between active disease and controls.
