The Freo X Ultra, a highly rated and extremely functional Gen 4 robotic vacuum and mop, is a well made machine. The $1,400 list price is difficult to swallow, but you can find it for sale frequently enough to make it more acceptable. The unit looks great, and the base station occupies just a small space in the corner of an area.
The design of this robot is able to address a few problems that we have encountered with other robotic vacuum and mop units, like the brushes becoming entangled in hair, and the brush being unable to reach floors with no furniture. The sweeping performance on floors and carpets is also impressive. The vacuum/mop system has the highest amount of debris removal, and the mop can saturate bare floors quickly.
The mops also use a smart system to clean around the edges of furniture and around walls. The robot is able to effortlessly avoid obstacles such as food bowls, toys, and backpacks. It could get caught or stuck with smaller, less hefty objects like shoelaces and USB cable, and pen.
We used this robot to vacuum and mop a variety of pile carpet tiles, FLOR rugs and hardwood floors in an open, large floor layout. It was able to vacuum and mop the 90 square meters in 170 minutes, with FREO Mind enabled. This is a bit more than average for Gen 4 robots.

Miele Scout RX3
Miele has a reputation of quality and innovation in the field of robot vacuuming. This new model aims to take that to the next level, with high-end features and superior cleaning performance.
The RX3 features a dual-suction system smart mapping system that includes 3D mapping as well as a camera which transmits an image in real-time to your smartphone. The powerful four-stage cleaning system ensures excellent dust removal on hard and carpet floors, while intuitive side brushes with a swing-out feature and two suction channels keep corners clean. Its 8.5 cm height lets it reach under low furniture. Front cameras and an infrared sensor aid in navigating barriers, thresholds and obstructions with ease.
The Scout RX3 impressed us in our test of how well it was able to clean baking powder around corners and baseboards. Its 2,500Pa suction was weaker than other robots, but it was still silent and moved swiftly. It didn't mop however its washable pads were fiddly to attach and didn't deal with dried-on dirt.
Its app is on the basic side, lacking advanced features like multiple cleaning modes and automated scheduling. It does work with Alexa however, its voice controls aren't very clear or responsive. And it's also a little difficult when it comes to getting back to the charging station following an outing -- other robots can follow a previous route or even follow a wall until they reach their home, but the RX3 just bumbles about until it finally gives up and sends a message of failure to your phone.
Another issue we encountered was with its clever features, particularly the mapping function and digital keep-out zones. While it did a decent job of keeping away from our shoes and furniture legs but it could easily be caught by cables and socks, and it was not able to manage the tassels of rug. We didn't include the Scout RX3 in our Best Buy list. With a decent price and a dazzling performance it's a Scout RX3 is worth considering if you're looking for a smarter alternative to traditional uprights.
