Armour

Link's armor is an essential element to protect him from danger. Although it isn't upgraded like weapons, it is possible to enhance its defense capabilities in a variety of ways.

The principle of armour is to shield animals or people from physical injury or harm whether from physical assault or from an array of dangers to the environment or activity. In the past, most armour was made from fabrics or leather, however metal protections were also used particularly for military purposes such as heavy cavalry and combat drones.

There are a variety of ways to upgrade armour but the majority of them require you to visit one of the four Great Fairy Fountains scattered throughout Hyrule. Each fountain offers a different degree of improvement with more protection levels requiring more rupees and other materials.

The first thing to remember about Armor Upgrades is they are permanent upgrades and once they've been applied they can't be replaced unless you own another piece of equipment with the same upgrade. It is recommended to only apply the most powerful upgrades to your equipment and ensure that you have all the components needed to complete the process.

Weapons

You can upgrade your guns with special upgrades to make them truly unique. These can increase damage, change the weapon's stats in order to adapt to your particular build and even unlock new attachments like unique enchantments, ammo types and other options for aesthetics.

You'll require both the upgrade component and the weapon itself to upgrade it. The weapon must be at a certain level for the upgrade to take effect and the majority of weapons can only take one upgrade at a time.

Weapon upgrade components can be found all over the world from a variety of sources, including merchants or enemies. The upgrade components themselves are a mix of ingredients that can be incorporated into armor, weapons trinkets and gathering tools to provide an attribute bonus or other impact while they're being used. They require equipment to be of a certain degree to allow the upgrade. They can be upgraded in the same way as other items.

The upgrades themselves are a mixture of Smithing Stones and Runes, and are used to improve the stats of a base weapon and enhancing its scale with other stats. They can be found among enemies that are dropped into the open, bought from a few merchants or from combat.

Two NPCs can enhance your weapon: Blacksmith Hewg in the Roundtable Hold hub zone and the Smithing Master Iji located in the Road to Manor hub zone. Both of these NPCs accept your Smithing Stones or Runes to upgrade your weapon.

It's crucial to prioritise upgrading your top-of-the-line items first, followed by items that you won't need to replace in the near future. Upgrade your weapon first, then upgrade your chest, shoulders feet, hands, and shoulders when you are planning to play in a melee-based build. The same principle applies to Magic and Utility Items.
