Born in 1950 in Pensacola, Florida. Childhood and teenage years spent in Northwest Florida. Japanese nationality only. Higher education in Alabama, Germany, and Japan. PhD in linguistics. Research specialization is historical geolinguistic ethnography. A 46-year academic career teaching at a private, Tokyo-based, Japanese university. Retired as a professor emeritus. Post-retirement work writing and translating song lyrics. Producing short entertainment videos in which I occasionally sing the background vocals.
