Occurrence and development of cancer are multifactorial and multistep processes which involve complicated cellular signaling pathways. Mitochondria, as the energy producer in cells, play key roles in tumor cell growth and division. Since mitochondria of tumor cells have a more negative membrane potential than those of normal cells, several fluorescent imaging probes have been developed for mitochondria-targeted imaging and photodynamic therapy. Conventional fluorescent dyes suffer from aggregation-caused quenching effect, while novel aggregation-induced emission (AIE) probes are ideal candidates for biomedical applications due to their large stokes shift, strong photo-bleaching resistance, and high quantum yield. This review aims to introduce the recent advances in the design and application of mitochondria-targeted AIE probes. The comprehensive review focuses on the structure-property relationship of these imaging probes, expecting to inspire the development of more practical and versatile AIE fluorogens (AIEgens) as tumor imaging and therapy agents for preclinical and clinical use.
This study aimed to investigate the process mothers go through in coming to terms with raising a child with chromosomal structural abnormalities.
Sixteen mothers living in Japan were interviewed and a modified grounded theory approach was used for the analysis.
A total of 35 concepts, nine subcategories, and six categories were extracted. The six categories were (a) Concern about abnormalities; (b) A healthy child is considered as a standard; (c) Deepening attachment to the child; (d) Acceptance of the child as s/he is; (e) Changing attitude toward disabilities; (f) Creating a frontier for other mothers. The parenting journey meant that parents did not move in a straightforward way from the beginning of the process to the endpoint but instead moved between "Deepening attachment to the child" and "Acceptance of the child as s/he is" before they moved ahead.
Having support and meeting peers of mothers with similar issues is essential for mothers to review their perspectives that healthy children are thegiving due consideration to the possibility that they may be conscious of being stigmatized. Nurses need to advocate for these children and families to get the appropriate help, understanding and support.Lodoicea maldivica (J.F.Gmel.) Pers. (Arecaceae), 'Coco de Mer', is a palm, growing as endemic in the Seychelles islands. Its fruit weighs up to 20 kg and is characterized by a fleshy and fibrous envelope surrounding the nutlike portion. The present work combines a morpho-anatomical and a phytochemical analysis of the fruit exocarp and mesocarp. The exocarp is composed by a layer of palisade cells. The mesocarp is characterized by vascular bundles and by sclereids. In the aerenchyma, the internal zone of the mesocarp, cells aggregates were positive to phenols, while idioblasts were positive to terpenes. We performed a GC/MS analysis with a semi-quantitative relative amount calculation of the recorded compounds. The GC/MS essential oil profile revealed the dominance of acyclic sesquiterpenoids (53.95 %), followed by bicyclic sesquiterpenoids (31.69 %), monoterpenes (11.89 %) and monocyclic sesquiterpenoids (2.44 %). The terpenes detected in higher amounts, β-caryophyllene and bicyclogermacrene, are known for activity against insect larvae, but have been proposed as antiviral candidates against SARS-CoV-2. The third compound in amount, aromadendrene, is active against bacteria and, again, known to possess insecticidal properties.
Laparoscopic surgery may be advantageous for cystic fibrosis (CF) patients because it leads to fewer complications than open surgery. However, it could still lead to pulmonary and cardiovascular complications in CF patients. We aimed to systematically review the use of laparoscopic surgery in CF patients.
A systematic review was performed in compliance with PRISMA guidelines. A literature search was performed using PubMed/MEDLINE, ScienceDirect, EMBASE, and Google Scholar, with "cystic fibrosis and laparoscopic surgery" and "cystic fibrosis and minimally invasive surgery" used as the search terms. The Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) criteria were applied. The protocol was registered with the PROSPERO register.
Six studies met the predetermined inclusion criteria; accordingly, two studies provided high-quality evidence and four provided moderate-quality evidence. The interrater correlation was convincing (r
= .95, P = .02, two-tailed). Therefore, three quantitative studies and three qualitative studies were assessed and evidence-graded in accordance with the GRADE protocol.

To compare the enucleation efficiency of Moses 2.0 with non-Moses technology in patients undergoing holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP).
A double-blinded, randomised study of patients undergoing HoLEP at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona, using the Lumenis Pulse™ 120H laser system. Patients were randomised to either right lobe enucleation using Moses 2.0 and left lobe enucleation using non-Moses, or the opposite. The primary outcome was individual lobe enucleation efficiency. Secondary outcomes included individual lobe laser time, laser energy, individual enucleation and haemostasis laser energies, and fibre burn back. Two independent reviewers watched videos of the procedures and provided a subjective evaluation of the technologies.
A total of 27 patients were included in the study. For the entire cohort, Moses 2.0 had less fibre degradation (3.5 vs 16.8mm, P<0.01) compared to non-Moses. When HoLEP procedures were performed by an expert, Moses 2.0 resulted in shorter enucleation time (21 vs 36.7min, P=0.016) and higher enucleation efficiency (1.75 vs 1.05g/min, P=0.05) compared to non-Moses. When HoLEP was performed by trainees, the Moses 2.0 cohort had a shorter haemostasis laser time (4.1 vs 9min, P=0.035) compared to the non-Moses.
