The killing of day-old chicks is controversially discussed in poultry keeping, science, politics, and society. The present survey data contributes to understand consumers´ attitudes towards ethical issues in chicken production, especially the killing practice and dual purpose chickens as alternative to avoid such killing. Information on the various topics is provided Consumer purchase pattern of eggs and chicken meat, perception of animal welfare and protection issues, knowledge and perception of killing day-old chicks, attitudes towards dual purpose chickens as an alternative to killing day-old chicks, and socio-demographic data. The data set contains standardized responds of 1000 telephone interviews. These interviews were conducted with German consumers in spring 2016. The survey data were in part analysed with cluster analysis to categorize consumers according to their purchasing criteria for dual chicken products, and assessing which socio-economic variables best described each of the consumer categories. In this data article, five major datasets and two data sub sets of a salt secreting mangrove, Rhizophora mucronata Lam. were described. A combination of Illumina HiSeq 2500, Trinity, BLAST X, Bowtie 2 and BLAST 2GO was used for RNA Seq, de novo assembly, transcript annotation, gene expression estimation and gene ontology annotation respectively. The RNA Sequence (Read 1 and Read 2) in Sequence Read Archive amounting to 46,366,348 paired end raw reads is the first data set made open for de novo or comparative transcript assembly. Assembled sequences of 93960 gene transcripts constitute the second data set in Transcriptome Shotgun Assembly. The gene/protein annotations to the assembled transcripts give two sub data sets containing 93960 each of GenBank and GenPept entries with comprehensive cDNA and translated protein sequences of genes. Of these, predicted proteins for 87768 coding sequences, mapped to UniProtKB serve as the third data set. The gene expression levels of the annotated transcripts comprise the fourth data set in Gene Expression Omnibus. The fifth data set in Figshare includes 44,028 gene ontology terms extracted for 21,073 confident transcripts. The data sets provide a valuable resource for further analyses including transcriptomic changes in response to environmental stresses.Short tandem repeat (STR) loci are widely used as genetic marker for ancestral and forensic analyses. The latter application includes for paternity testing and DNA profiling of samples collected from scenes of crime and suspects. This survey provides the first dataset for 21 STR loci across the Akan population in Ghana by genotyping of 109 unrelated healthy individuals using Investigator 24plex kit. None of the STR loci screened deviated from Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium after applying Bonferroni correction. Overall, 224 unique alleles were observed with allele frequencies ranging from 0.005 to 0.518. The combined match probability, combined power of exclusion and combined power discrimination were 1 in 4.07 × 10-25, 0.999999999 and 1, respectively. Principal coordinate analysis carried out using 21 STR allele frequency data mapped the Akans with Nigerian subpopulation groups (Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba), but separated from Thais of Thailand, Chechen of Jordan and Tijuana of Mexico.The data presented here are related to the research article entitled "Differential expression of the angiotensin-(1-12) [Ang-(1-12)]/chymase axis in human atrial tissue [1]. Complete genome sequencing of L. sakei MBEL1397 was performed using the PacBio RSII platform. MBEL1397 has a 1,994,569 bp circular chromosome with 41.04% G+C content. The GenBank accession numbers are PRJNA598112 for the BioProject, SAMN13698554 for the BioSample, and CP048116 for the chromosome.Recent studies have shown that the metal adaptation of Actinobacteria offers a rich source of metal inducible environmentally relevant bio-compounds and molecules. These interact through biosorption towards the unique cell walls or via metal chelating activity of metallophors with trace elements, heavy metals and even with lanthanides to overcome limitations and toxic concentrations. Herein, the purpose is to investigate the adaptation potential of Gordonia rubripertincta CWB2 in dependence of the rare earths and to determine if we can utilize promising metallophore metal affinities for metal separation from aquatic solutions. The respective workflow comprises a metal adaptation method to demonstrate effects on bacterial growth, pH, metallophore production, and metabolic change. All this was evaluated by LC-MS/MS anption of lanthanides and immobilization as well as enrichment of metals using metallophore functionalized inorganic TMOS polymers for separation of metals from aquatic model solutions.Large-scale land cover classification from satellite imagery is still a challenge due to the big volume of data to be processed, to persistent cloud-cover in cloud-prone areas as well as seasonal artefacts that affect spatial homogeneity. Sentinel-2 times series from Copernicus Earth Observation program offer a great potential for fine scale land cover mapping thanks to high spatial and temporal resolutions, with a decametric resolution and five-day repeat time. However, the selection of best available scenes, their download together with the requirements in terms of storage and computing resources pose restrictions for large-scale land cover mapping. The dataset presented in this paper corresponds to global cloud-free pixel based composite created from the Sentinel-2 data archive (Level L1C) available in Google Earth Engine for the period January 2017- December 2018. The methodology used for generating the image composite is described and the metadata associated with the 10 m resolution dataset is presented. The dataset contains daily bias-corrected values of maximum/minimum near-surface air temperature, precipitation and mean near-surface wind speed from 15 models from the Fifth Phase of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP5) and a downscaled high-resolution dataset (NEX-GDDP), based on CMIP5 models, over the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau (QTP) during 1986-2095. This dataset provides an important reference for the study of future climate change and its impacts in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau region.The complete genome of the thraustochytrid Aurantiochytrium limacinum strain CCAP_4062/1 was sequenced using both Illumina Novaseq 6000 and third generation sequencing technology PacBio RSII in order to obtain trustworthy assembly and annotation. The reads from both platforms were combined at multiple levels in order to obtain a reliable assembly, then compared to the A. limacinum ATCCⓇ MYA1381™ reference genome. The final assembly was annotated with the help of strain CCAP_4062/1 RNAseq data. A. limacinum strain CCAP_4062/1 is an industrial strain used for the production of very long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids, like the docosahexaenoic acid that is an essential fatty acid synthesised only at very low pace in humans and vertebrates . Thraustochytrids in general and Aurantiochytrium more specifically, are used for carotenoid and squalene production as well. Beside their biotechnological interest, thraustochytrids play a crucial role in both inshore and oceanic basins ecosystems. Genome sequences will foster biotechnological as well as ecological studies.The paper presents a rich collection of data obtained as a result of a sociological survey of 230,880 parents from 85 constituent entities of the Russian Federation. In particular, the paper provides data on the opinions of parents about the organization of school meals for their schoolchildren. A total of three large aspects are covered (1) the demand for school cafeteria services and payment for meals; (2) satisfaction of parents with various aspects of catering in educational organizations; (3) catering control and information work.
