To our knowledge, this is the first report of Erysiphe betae causing powdery mildew on Beta vulgaris var. cicla in Mexico. This pathogen has been previously reported in Iraq (Amano, 1986) and Greece (Vakalounakis and Kavroulakis, 2017) on Beta vulgaris var. cicla. Also, Erysiphe betae has been reported in Mexico on Chenopodium and throughout the world on sugar beet (Farr and Rossman, 2022). This pathogen is a major issue as it can completely cover the leaves of the diseased plants, making them difficult to market.Oxalis articulata is now widely cultivated in China as an ornamental species, and thus found in abundance in agricultural farms, gardens, and lawns. In December 2021, some severely infected Oxalis articulata were observed at many places at Zhejiang Normal University (29°8'4″N, 119°37'54″E) in Jinhua City, Zhejiang Province, China. Yellow was first observed on the margin of the leaves, leading to light brown and wilting at a later stage. To identify the pathogen, symptomatic leaves were collected and cut into small pieces, surface disinfected in 1% sodium hypochlorite solution for 3 min, followed by 75% alcohol for 0.5 min, then rinsed in sterile distilled water thrice. Then they were transferred onto Luria-Bertani medium and incubated at 28°C for 3 days. The colonies were round, yellow, viscous and smooth, which was consistent with the characteristics of Pantoea agglomerans (Li et al. 2020; Zhang et al. 2022). The bacteria tested gram-negative, negative for indole test and Voges-Proskauer reaction, and positi China, it has been reported to infect many kinds of plants (Fan et al. 2022; Guo et al. 2020; Han et al. 2020; Li et al. 2020; She et al. 2019; Zhang et al. 2022). As far as we know, this is the first report of P. agglomerans causing bacterial wilt on Oxalis articulata in China. Thus, a comprehensive synopsis of the most recent advancements and developments in the study of nickel (Ni) nanostructure-based sensors for efficient trace-level glucose detection, following non-enzymatic and electrochemical methods, is provided in this review. Moreover, this review is intensively focused on the methodologies for the structure, morphology, preparation, and enforcement of a variety of Ni nanostructures, including Ni nanosheets with metals, Ni nanospheres with metals/mixed metals, Ni-metal nanocomposites, metal nanoparticles-decorated Ni nanowires, Ni nanoparticles, Ni-decorated metal nanotube arrays, Ni nanoneedles and nanorods with metals, nanoporous, nanoplates, nanocoated Ni with metal composites, and Ni-composed hybrid nanostructures. Various demonstrations and categorizations are provided on Ni-based nanostructures for a clear understanding for diverse readers.
High perioperative patient anxiety is predictive of worse postoperative pain and quality of life. Several Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS) patient characteristics influence anxiety; however, the contributions of certain factors remain uncertain.

Investigate factors influencing perioperative MMS patient anxiety, especially those with debated impact or unclear data.

The authors surveyed 145 adult patients receiving MMS performed by a single MMS surgeon from 2018 to 2020. Patients self-reported demographics, history, and 10-point visual analog scale anxiety assessments at multiple stages. Health care provider (HCP)-perceived anxiety assessments were queried. A stepwise multiple regression modeling approach was used to explore potential factors.

Younger age, female sex, and a self-reported history of anxiety confirmed by prior HCP diagnosis were significant predictors of pre-MMS anxiety. Postoperative anxiety increased with more layers removed and higher pre-MMS anxiety. HCP-perceived patient anxiety increased with younger patient age, more layers removed, prior skin cancer removal, and HCP-perceived pre-MMS patient anxiety.

Anxiety-reducing interventions should target young female patients with a history of HCP-diagnosed anxiety, and patients with more layers removed. Prior skin cancer removal is associated with increased HCP-perceived intraoperative patient anxiety; however, it is not significant for patient-reported anxiety. The accurate surveillance and sensitive detection of DENV in mosquito populations are critical for the protection of human populations worldwide that are in the habitat of these mosquito species. There are four DENV serotypes with DENV2 reported to cause the most severe complications. There are limited ultrasensitive methods to early detect DENV2 mosquito infection and prevent human infection. Herein, we report an innovative nanobased immunoassay platform for early, specific, and ultrasensitive detection of DENV2-secreted nonstructural 1 (NS1) protein biomarker in single infected mosquitoes with the limit of detection of 500 fg of recombinant DENV2 NS1. The high sensitivity and DENV2 serotype specificity of the platform are the result of using nanomixing, plasmonic SERS nanoboxes, and yeast affinity bionanofragments displaying single-chain variable fragments (nanoyeast scFvs). Nanoyeast scFvs used for high affinity capture of DENV2 NS1 provided an innovative and cost-efficient alternative to monoclonal antibodies and differentiated DENV2 NS1 from other DENV serotypes and Zika virus NS1. The platform used electrohydrodynamically driven nanomixing to enhance NS1 capture by the nanoyeast scFvs while reducing nonspecific interactions. High sensitivity detection of captured DENV2 NS1 was achieved using NS1-specific surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) nanotags. These nanotechnologies provide a significant innovation for early DENV2 detection in single infected mosquitoes, improving the accurate surveillance of mosquito habitats and preventing infection and severe disease arising from DENV2 transmission.A close communication exists between the microorganisms that live in the intestine and the brain, the so-called microbiota-gut-brain axis. This interaction occurs at different levels, such as the induction by bacteria of an inflammatory state in the intestine that produces (i) stimulation of the vagus nerve that conducts information to the brain, and (ii) the release of proinflammatory cytokines - such as TNF-α- to circulation, which can then be transported to the brain and trigger neuroinflammation. Ethanol-induced neuroinflammation is produced, in part, by the impairment of the epithelial barrier function of the intestine, since acetaldehyde generated in the gut from ethanol oxidation produces a disassembly of the tight junctions (TJ), which allows diffusion of bacterial components into the blood; these events trigger a systemic inflammatory response that crosses the blood-brain barrier and induce neuroinflammation. Some short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) such as butyrate, propionate, and acetate, are produced from indigestible polysaccharides (fibers) by certain bacteria in the microbiota. These SCFAs have shown a protective function of the TJ against intestinal injuries, preserving the intestinal barrier function. In this perspective article, we discuss the therapeutic possibility to increase the production of SCFAs in the intestine of patients with AUD, to protect the integrity of TJ and thus modulate the neuroinflammatory process that helps to the establishment of chronic alcohol intake. In this way, a new therapeutic alternative is proposed here through a simple dietary intervention in the patient, increasing their fiber consumption.
Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS) for sebaceous carcinoma (SC) may reduce local recurrence rates, but published case series have small cohorts and limited follow-up. Mohs micrographic surgery is particularly suitable for sensitive functional and cosmetic locations, such as the face, because it facilitates tissue conservation using complete peripheral and deep margin assessment before reconstruction. Coordinated care between Mohs and oculoplastic surgeons has not been described.

To assess rates of local recurrence and metastasis after MMS of facial SC and to describe coordinated care between Mohs and oculoplastic surgeons.

Retrospective review identified facial SC cases treated with MMS at a single institution from January 2005 to August 2020. Tumor characteristics and outcomes were recorded. Descriptive and predictive analyses were performed.

Forty-nine cases were reviewed with a mean follow-up of 51 months. The most common sites were periorbital, infraorbital cheek, and nasal ala. No patients experienced regional recurrence after MMS. One patient with Muir-Torre syndrome developed metastatic recurrence (at 82.9 months). All patients underwent 2-stage reconstruction with dermatology-performed MMS and oculoplastic reconstruction.

The materials exhibit phase-matching nonlinear optical responses, elucidating the feasibility of the heteroanionic strategy. Ln2 (SeO3 )2 (SO4 )(H2 O)2 displays paramagnetic property with strong magnetic anisotropy facilitated by large spin-orbit coupling. This study demonstrates a new chemical pathway for creating previously unknown polar chiral magnets with multiple functionalities.
