Angels on the Walls
Bible in a Year :
Leviticus 1–3
Matthew 24:1–28
We prayed to our God and posted a guard day and night to meet this threat.

Today's Scripture & Insight :

Nehemiah 4:6–9
When Wallace and Mary Brown moved to an impoverished part of Birmingham, England, to pastor a dying church, they didn’t know that a gang had made the grounds of their church and home its headquarters. The Browns had bricks thrown through their windows, their fences set on fire, and their children threatened. The abuse continued for months; the police were unable to stop it.

The book of Nehemiah recounts how the Israelites rebuilt Jerusalem’s broken walls. When locals set out to “stir up trouble,” threatening them with violence (Nehemiah 4:8), the Israelites “prayed to . . . God and posted a guard” (v. 9). Feeling God used this passage to direct them, the Browns, their children, and a few others walked around their church’s walls, praying that He would install angels as guards to protect them. The gang jeered, but the next day, only half of them showed up. The day after that, only five were there, and the day after, no one came. The Browns later heard the gang had given up terrorizing people.

This miraculous answer to prayer isn’t a formula for our own protection, but it’s a reminder that opposition to God’s work will come and must be fought with the weapon of prayer. “Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome,” Nehemiah told the Israelites (v. 14). He can even set violent hearts free.

Reflect & Pray
What would you have done in the Browns’ situation? Who needs your prayers for deliverance today?

Awesome God, protect Your people by Your powerful angels, and set the hearts of Your enemies free. Amen.

So Much of Who I AM Is in the Psalms - Journaling Prayer by LaWanda

LaWanda – ♪♪ “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, sweetest name I know. Fills my every longing. Keeps me singing as I go.” ♪♪ O Lord, thank you for this sweet melody you have put into my heart that glorifies your name. Reminds me, Lord, that I can always come into your presence by singing your praise. Thank you, Jesus, that you are always there with arms wide open, waiting for me to come.
I see you, Lord, in our church service this morning, receiving the praises of your people. Your presence is so obvious, Lord. I see you receiving every praise that is sung and every word of thanksgiving that is brought to you in prayer. Whether we are singing, shouting or speaking them, Lord, you receive them all and we are blessed with your presence. O Jesus, precious Lord, thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Jesus – LaWanda, dear one, my precious, precious one. My heart is open to all who offer the sacrifice of praise to Me. As you have read in the Psalms, you are reminded of this over and over again. Oh the promises in that one book of the Bible. You could spend a lifetime trying to convey all that is there and STILL have more to go. So many studies that you could do. My promises for when you cry out to Me. My promises for protecting you. My promises for healing. My promises for forgiveness. My promises for rescue and deliverance. Truths about My word and My faithfulness. I could go on, LaWanda, but you get the idea. So much of ME, of who I AM, is in the Psalms. Perhaps that is why you keep coming back to them – because I keep revealing Myself to you within them.

Your idea to make a list of all the verses that have to do with healing is an inspired one. I want you to ingest these verses, so that when someone comes to you for prayer, My word is how you pray for them. I know you already do this, but I want you to do it MORE. I want more of My word to be in you so that it can come out of you when you pray. My word IS the prayer, LaWanda. You already know that it cannot return to me void, so there is no better way to pray, whether it is for healing, deliverance or provision. It matters not the problem; My word is ALWAYS the answer.

When you pray in this way, you are using it as the Sword of the Spirit to attack the problem or the spirit behind the problem and it increases your faith and the faith of the one you are praying with as you hear it. When you use My word in this way, you are claiming My promises, declaring them to be true and Me to be faithful, even as they come out of your mouth. Yes, I am using My word that you speak to increase their faith as they hear it and agree with it. It will also inspire the ones who hear it to desire more of Me. Yes, increase their faith, but increase their desire for more of Me in the process. My word will move them from hoping that I will answer to KNOWING that I will. And wanting more of Me as they do. What you are doing when you pray for someone is so much more than just speaking My word over them. Holy Spirit brings the word to your mind and as you speak it He opens the heart of the listener to receive it. You are truly joined in agreement for that prayer to be answered. And in that moment, you have not just given them My word, but you have given them your faith as well. Holy Spirit inspires them in those very moments that if you have that such faith in Me, they can, too.

O precious one. They see in that moment, as you read in Hebrews today that the authority of your faith does not rest in you. It rests in the One who made the promise and claiming the promise of My word in that moment is tapping into My faithfulness. They see that I am using your faith and confidence in Me to increase their own. They don’t know how it has happened but they walk away feeling better and with more faith than they did before they came for prayer. O dear one, this should inspire you to memorize My word as you never have before. Ingest My word and be filled with the joy it produces, knowing that you will be able to call it forth later. Holy Spirit cannot bring out of you what is not in you. And He will use these new verses that you learn in amazing ways. When you speak what Holy Spirit inspires you to speak, He births faith in their hearts to respond. You do your part (memorize more of My word) and We SURELY will do ours. It can be no other way.

Gaining Perspective
JANUARY 5, 2024

And in this I rejoice, yes, and will rejoice. For I know that this [imprisonment] will turn out for my deliverance through your prayer and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ.
Philippians 1:18-19

Recommended Reading: Romans 8:28-29
Growing up in school, we learn that 1+1=2. But does it always? If one cloud merges with another, how many clouds are there? Not two, but one. Sometimes, from a different perspective, we see new things.

Nobody enjoys going through difficult times. (Take Job in the Old Testament as an example.) But if we step back and look at our situation from a different perspective, we might see it differently. That’s what Paul did when he was imprisoned in Rome. In spite of his difficulties, he found reasons to rejoice. And what were his reasons? That with the Holy Spirit’s help, he would be delivered from his chains. He didn’t know when or how, but he trusted that God was at work to bring good things out of bad and cause him to become more like Christ (Romans 8:28-29).

In times of trouble, ask God to broaden your perspective, to give you spiritual eyes to see the new growth that can result in your life.

There is a certain kind of maturity that can be attained only through the discipline of suffering.

I AM a Bondage Breaker! - Journaling by Malachi Talabi

Malachi Talabi writes: I woke up at 3am and heard the word FREE! Later in the day a text message from a work mate said “freedom.” How random? I was driving in my car and two vans in front of me hand the logo Freedom written in HUGE writing.I had to go and journal and see what God was saying. Here’s what I picked up...

A MESSAGE FROM THE BONDAGE BREAKER
Blow the trumpet for MY people coming out of the pit. Do you really believe in my freedom? This isn’t about a change of habit; it’s about a change of heart. I am going to change hearts. You see, people have tried to get free from things that I’ve been assigned to free them from.

I have an assignment to bring freedom into your life in every area of bondage and oppression. I am the one who is meant to deal with that. You see, the doctor isn’t a bondage breaker, although He can help. It's my anointing that breaks the yoke. I have a specific anointing to set captives free. You might say, "But Jesus, You did that on Calvary”. Yes, but you have to bring freedom into your reality.

On this journey, sometimes you fall into pits, traps and you can get side-tracked, soul-ties, bondages and addictions. These things can happen. Sometimes one little mistake can give birth to years of addiction. I am here to set people free. Some are addicted to pornography and they’ve tried, they've pleaded, they've tried, they’ve prayed, but I tell you, tell them that “I am a bondage breaker.” Some are addicted to lying and I will sanctify their mouths. Some are addicted to food, and they’ve given up thinking that the bondage breaker isn’t strong enough to help them.
I said in My word that “you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.” The truth is, I can break any addiction and any bondage with a willing heart. You don’t need willpower; I just need a willing heart - just a willing heart.

Once you know the truth, you’ll experience irreversible freedom. Once and for all you’ll never go back. This is the type of freedom I am talking about: total transformation. I can do it, and I will do it.
This is a season of freedom. Things won’t be the same again.

People have got so used to living in prison that they don’t know that they are bound, but they are meant to be free.
• Emotionally free
• Financially free
• Physically free
But they have sought Me so many times that they don’t think freedom is possible. It is possible and it’s happening. I CAME TO SET CAPTIVES FREE from any prison, and every prison. I came to deal with every type of affliction, every infirmity and every addiction. Now it’s time to come to Me for deliverance. This is a time of freedom. I pray that Jesus sets you free in any area that you need freedom.

The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is upon me, for the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the broken-hearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed (Isaiah 61:1)!
