Over the past 20 years, a series of reports written by groups of senior researchers and administrators have recommended changes to improve the training environments for graduate students and postdoctoral researchers in the United States. However, academic institutions and departments have largely failed to implement these recommendations, which has exacerbated the problems faced by these trainees. Here, based on input from trainees at different career stages, we outline seven practical changes that academic institutions and departments can make to improve their training environments.

This review is based on publications about lipedema that were retrieved by a selective search in the MEDLINE, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library databases.
The pathophysiology of lipedema remains unclear. The putative causes that have been proposed include altered adipogenesis, microangiopathy, and disturbed lymphatic microcirculation. No specific biomarker has yet been found, and the diagnosis is currently made on clinical grounds alone. Ancillary tests are used only to rule out competing diagnoses. The state of the evidence on treatment is poor. Treatment generally consists of complex decongestive therapin an interdisciplinary setting. Research in this area should focus on the elucidation of the pathophysiology of lipedema and the development of a specific biomarker for it.

The COVID-19 Imaging Registry Study Aachen (COVID-19-Bildgebungs-Register Aachen, COBRA) collects data on imaging in patients with COVID-19. Two of the COBRA partner hospitals (RWTH Aachen University Hospital and Dueren Hospital) systematically perform reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) from nasopharyngeal swabs as well as LDCT in all patients presenting with manifestations that are compatible with COVID-19. In accordance with the COV-RADS protocol, the LDCT scans were prospectively evaluated before the RT-PCR findings were available in order to categorize the likelihood of COVID-19.

A simple, rapid, sensitive, and reliable HPLC method with UV detection was developed and validated for simultaneous quantitation of docetaxel and celecoxib and paclitaxel for dissolution characterization and pharmacokinetic studies.
The HPLC assay was performed isocratically on a reversed-phase C18 μ-Bondapack column using a mobile phase of acetonitrilewater (4555, v/v) at a flow rate of 1.2 mL/min, and the analytes were detected at 230 nm. Paclitaxel was used as an internal standard for analysis of plasma samples following simple liquid-liquid extraction with n-hexaneisoamyl alcohol (973). The method was validated for specificity, linearity, sensitivity, precision, accuracy, robustness, and in vitro-in vivo application.
The retention times for docetaxel, paclitaxel, and celecoxib were 10.94, 12.4, and 16.81 min, respectively. The standard curves covering 0.1-1 μg/mL and 0.05-4 μg/mL were linear using dissolution medium and rat plasma, respectively. The limit of quantitation of the method was 50 ng/mL using 100 μL of rat plasma sample and injection of 50 μL of the residue.
