Republicans Push for FBI Reform

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Turner, along with fellow Republican committee members, has introduced a proposal to significantly alter how the FBI utilizes the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA). Turner’s bill addresses concerns raised by Republicans regarding intelligence issues, including improper wiretaps on Carter Page from Trump’s campaign and illegal leaks that led to the resignation of Trump’s national security adviser, Mike Flynn.
Senators Mark Warner and Marco Rubio, co-sponsoring a similar bill in the Senate Intelligence Committee, propose comparable reforms.
The bill aims to prevent political misuse of intelligence by limiting reliance on questionable “opposition research” and unverified press reports to justify surveillance under FISA. It also seeks to tighten regulations on officials leaking intelligence intercepts, as seen in the case of Flynn, with significant criminal penalties. Additionally, it calls for essential enhancements to the FBI’s internal system for enforcing surveillance rules.
Considering these aspects, it is evident that Republicans have a unique opportunity this month, as Section 702 of FISA is set to expire on December 31st, giving them significant leverage. This expiration could give Congress a better perspective on the secretive FISA wiretapping process, enabling representatives to hold the FBI and other agencies accountable.

“Ukraine has biological research facilities which, in fact, we are now quite concerned... Russian forces may be seeking to gain control of... we are working with the Ukrainians on how they can prevent any of those research materials from falling into the hands of Russian forces, should they approach,” Nuland said.
In what seemed to be an attempt to control the narrative, Senator Marco Rubio made claims that the theory behind the Ukrainian bio-labs is Russian propaganda to cover up their own potential bio attacks. Nuland agreed to this theory and responded, “There is no doubt in my mind, Senator, and it is classic Russian technique to blame on the other guy what they’re planning to do themselves."
Nuland is known for her involvement in the 2014 regime change in Ukraine. Trump is good at drumming up nicknames for his opponents. Back in 2016 he labeled Jeb Bush, “Low energy Jeb.” People were already tired of the Bush dynasty, but that tag summed up Jeb nicely. His campaign steadily declined thereafter. He called Marco Rubio, “Little Marco.” It was devastating to his campaign. His Democrat opponent was “Crooked Hillary,” which summed her up to a ’T.’ Few are more dastardly and crooked than Hillary Clinton.
Trump was the first to label Elizabeth Warren “Pocahontas.” It stuck. Pete Buttigieg became “Alfred E. Newman.” When Ron DeSantis began campaigning for 2024, Trump switched from “DeSanctimonious” to “Meatball.” Ron has a round head and lacks sharpness in his speech delivery, so it fits—and his polling numbers haven’t been the same since.
Nikki Haley has made progress in the polls, so Trump promptly affixed to her the insult, “Bird brain.” Haley said she laughed it off (chirped it off?) and claimed it meant she was a real threat to Trump. Yet judging from the polls, she remains hopelessly behind. Also, judging her behavior on the debate stage, it surely must have ruffled her feathers.
The neocon RINOs may have noticed that Ron’s poll numbers are sagging while Haley’s numbers are starting to take wing. Therefore they are now channeling some money her way. Especially since her species resembles a bird of the UniParty Swamp. Former Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan has allegedly been cheerleading other Republican leaders into sending money toward Haley so she could wet her beak. Soon she will no doubt receive millions of cracker$.
