Photoplethysmography (PPG) is easy to measure and provides important parameters related to heart rate and arrhythmia. However, automated PPG methods have not been developed because of their susceptibility to motion artifacts and differences in waveform characteristics among individuals. With increasing use of telemedicine, there is growing interest in application of deep neural network (DNN) technology for efficient analysis of vast amounts of PPG data. This study is about an algorithm for measuring a patient's PPG and comparing it with their own data stored previously and with the average data of several groups. Six deep neural networks were used to normalize the PPG waveform according to the heart rate by removing uninformative regions from the PPG, distinguishing between heartbeat and reflection pulses, dividing the heartbeat waveform into 10 segments and averaging the values according to each segments. PPG data were measured using telemedicine in both groups. Group 1 consisted of healthy people aged 25 to 35 years, and Group 2 consisted of patients between 60 and 75 years of age taking antihypertensive medications. The proposed algorithm could accurately determine which group the subject belonged with the newly measured PPG data (AUC = 0.998). On the other hand, errors were frequently observed in identification of individuals (AUC = 0.819).We present a model for the petrogenesis of magma with adakitic affinity in an old subduction zone, which does not involve slab melting and is constrained by new geochronological and geochemical data for Mt. Popa, the largest of three Quaternary volcanoes in central Myanmar (Popa, Monywa and Singu). The edifice is composed of Popa Plateau (0.8-0.6 Ma) with high-K rocks and a stratovolcano ( 40). The distinct K contents indicate that the adakitic magmas cannot be derived from Popa high-K rocks, but they share trace-element signatures and Sr-Nd isotope ratios with medium-K basalts from Monywa volcano. Our estimation of water contents in Popa magma reveals that primary magma for medium-K basalts was generated by partial melting of wedge mantle with normal potential temperature (TP 1330-1340 °C) under wet conditions (H2O 0.25-0.54 wt%). Its melting was probably induced by asthenospheric upwelling that is recognized by tomographic images. Mafic adakitic magma (Mg# ~ 63, Sr/Y ~ 64) was derived from the medium-K basaltic magma in fractional crystallization of a garnet-bearing assemblage at high pressure, and felsic adakitic rocks (Mg# ~ 45, Sr/Y ~ 50) were produced by assimilation-fractional crystallization processes at mid-crustal depths.Two environmentally friendly organics (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, EDTA and its easier biodegradabe isomer, ethylenediamine-N, N'-disuccinic acid, EDDS) were used to dope calcium carbonate (CC) nanoparticles intending to increase their adsorptive properties and evaluate adsorption performance (uptake capacity and removal efficiency) for the persistent Reactive Yellow 84 azo dye. Easily synthesized nanomaterials were fully characterized (morphology and size, mineralogy, organic content, surface area, pore size and hydrodynamic diameter). RY84 removal was performed using two consecutive processes photodegradation after adsorption. The CC-EDTA particles were most efficient for dye removal as compared to the plain and CC-EDDS particles. Adsorption kinetics and isotherms were considered for the CC-EDTA system. 99% removal occurred via adsorption on 1 g/L of adsorbent at 5 mg/L dye concentration and pH of 8 and it decreased to 48% at 60 mg/L. Maximum uptake capacity as described by Langmuir is 39.53 mg/g. As post-adsorption, under UVA irradiation, in the presence of 40 mmol/L H2O2, at dye concentration of 10 mg/L the highest degradation was 49.11%. Substantial decrease of adsorption (ca. 4 times) and photodegradation (ca. 5 times) efficiencies were observed in wastewater effluent as compared to distilled water. The results have important implications to wastewater treatments and appropriate decisions making for the choice of treatment process, process optimization and scaling up to pilot and industrial levels.Maize is an important industrial crop where yield and quality enhancement both assume greater importance. Clean production technologies like conservation agriculture and integrated nutrient management hold the key to enhance productivity and quality besides improving soil health and environment. Hence, maize productivity and quality were assessed under a maize-wheat cropping system (MWCS) using four crop-establishment and tillage management practices [FBCT-FBCT (Flat bed-conventional tillage both in maize and wheat); RBCT-RBZT (Raised bed-CT in maize and raised bed-zero tillage in wheat); FBZT-FBZT (FBZT both in maize and wheat); PRBZT-PRBZT (Permanent raised bed-ZT both in maize and wheat], and five P-fertilization practices [P100 (100% soil applied-P); P50 + 2FSP (50% soil applied-P + 2 foliar-sprays of P through 2% DAP both in maize and wheat); P50 + PSB + AM-fungi; P50 + PSB + AMF + 2FSP; and P0 (100% NK with no-P)] in split-plot design replicated-thrice. Double zero-tilled PRBZT-PRBZT system significantlnd P/S index were also higher under P50 + PSB + AMF + 2FSP; avowing the obvious role of foliar-P and microbial-inoculants in influencing maize fatty acid composition. Overall, double zero-tilled PRBZT-PRBZT with crop residue retention at 6 t/ha per year along with P50 + PSB + AMF + 2FSP while saving 34.7% fertilizer-P in MWCS, may prove beneficial in enhancing maize productivity and quality so as to reinforce the food and nutritional security besides boosting food, corn-oil and starch industry in south-Asia and collateral arid agro-ecologies across the globe.The purpose of this study was to investigate the incidence and risk factors of early postoperative stiffness in patients without preoperative stiffness undergoing isolated arthroscopic rotator cuff repair (ARCR). Two hundred seventy-four patients who underwent primary ARCR were included. At 3 months after surgery, criteria for shoulder stiffness was set as follows (1) passive forward flexion 0.05). Multivariate analyses revealed early postoperative stiffness was significantly associated with diabetes mellitus and timing of rehabilitation (p = 0.024, p = 0.033, respectively). The overall incidence of early postoperative stiffness following isolated ARCR in patients without preoperative stiffness was 14.2%. Diabetes mellitus and timing of rehabilitation were independent risk factors for early postoperative stiffness following ARCR.The tendency to reflect on the emotions of self and others is a key aspect of emotional awareness (EA)-a trait widely recognized as relevant to mental health. However, the degree to which EA draws on general reflective cognition vs. specialized socio-emotional mechanisms remains unclear. Based on a synthesis of work in neuroscience and psychology, we recently proposed that EA is best understood as a learned application of domain-general cognitive processes to socio-emotional information. In this paper, we report a study in which we tested this hypothesis in 448 (125 male) individuals who completed measures of EA and both general reflective cognition and socio-emotional performance. As predicted, we observed a significant relationship between EA measures and both general reflectiveness and socio-emotional measures, with the strongest contribution from measures of the general tendency to engage in effortful, reflective cognition. This is consistent with the hypothesis that EA corresponds to the application of general reflective cognitive processes to socio-emotional signals.We investigated the characteristics of neovascular age-related macular degeneration (AMD) in which exudation predominantly occurs as a subretinal fluid (SRF) during anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) treatment. A total of 509 treatment-naïve neovascular AMD patients treated with anti-VEGF for 24 months were retrospectively analyzed. The baseline characteristics to determine the odds of occurrence of SRF alone were evaluated using multivariate modeling. SRF was the sole manifestation of lesion activity in 209 (40.9%) eyes during follow-up. The visual outcome of eyes with only SRF occurrence during follow-up was comparable to that of eyes without exudative recurrence. A surveillance study was performed in the largest tertiary care hospital in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 2018 to 2020 to observe the trends of broad-spectrum antibiotics (beta-lactam/beta-lactamases inhibitors (BL/BLI), extended-spectrum cephalosporins (ESC), and fluoroquinolones (FQ)) and antibiotics against MRO (carbapenems, polymyxins, and glycopeptides) usage and the correlation between antibiotic consumption and MROs. The correlation between 3-year trends of antibiotic consumption (defined daily dose (DDD)/100 admissions) with MRO infection cases (per 100 admissions) was determined using a Jonckheere-Terpstra test and a Pearson's Correlation coefficient. The antimicrobial resistance trend demonstrated a positive correlation between ESC and FQ towards the development of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL)-producing Klebsiella spp, ESBL-producing Escherichia coli (E. coli), and MRO Acinetobacter baumannii (A. baumannii). Increasing carbapenem consumption was positively correlated with the occurrence of ESBL-producing Klebsiella spp and E. coli. Polymyxin use was positively correlated with ESBL-producing Klebsiella spp, MRO A. baumannii, and carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae. The findings reinforced concerns regarding the association between MRO development, especially with a surge in ESC and FQ consumption. However, the role of CMA in skeletal homeostasis under physiological and pathophysiological conditions is unknown. To address the role of CMA for skeletal homeostasis, we deleted an essential component of the CMA process, namely Lamp2a, from the mouse genome. CRISPR-Cas9-based genome editing led to the deletion of both Lamp2a and Lamp2c, another Lamp2 isoform, producing Lamp2AC global knockout (L2ACgKO) mice. At 5 weeks of age female L2ACgKO mice had lower vertebral cancellous bone mass compared to wild-type (WT) controls, whereas there was no difference between genotypes in male mice at this age. The low bone mass of L2ACgKO mice was associated with elevated RANKL expression and the osteoclast marker genes Trap and Cathepsin K. At 18 weeks of age, both male and female L2ACgKO mice had lower vertebral cancellous bone mass compared to WT controls.
