1 Thessalonians 5:1-6 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. 2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. 3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. 4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. 5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. 6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
Some clues: Moedim is Hebrew for feasts/appointed times and is translated 'season'. The Jews Paul was writing to would have known this.
'Thief in the night' was a common idiom used of the High Priest as he made his rounds checking whether the watchmen were awake and not sleeping during their watch.
Yom Teruah is a feast or moed, appointed time. It is a two-day feast because the start of it is dependent on sighting the new moon. Two watchmen would be sent out to watch for that crescent sliver and then they would report seeing it to the High Priest who would blow a shofar to start the feast. Yom Teruah or Day of the Awakening Blast would begin. The reference to the woman in travail is speaking of Israel who will indeed, as a nation, go through the Time of Jacob's Trouble, it is Israel that will be protected IN that time. Paul then teaches us we who are of the LIGHT will not because we are not in darkness, or asleep.
When you study the Marriage customs of ancient Israel (the Marriage Feast of the Lamb), and the Feast of Yom Teruah (day of the Awakening Blast) it is very plain Paul was teaching a pre Trib catching away of the Bride.
