Introduction Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, inflammatory, and multisystem disease, which, along with the joints, can involve the cardiovascular system. The treatment of rheumatoid arthritis or rheumatoid arthritis itself can lead to atherosclerosis, which is considered one of the major causes by which it can affect the cardiovascular system. In this study, we will assess the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with rheumatoid arthritis as compared to the general population. Method This case-control study was conducted from January 2018 to November 2018. Two-hundred twenty-two (222) patients with diagnosed rheumatoid arthritis were included as cases in the study. Two-hundred eleven (211) patients were included in the study as the control group (patients without rheumatoid arthritis). All the data were recorded in a self-structured questionnaire. Result Participants with rheumatoid arthritis also showed an increased risk of myocardial infarction (MI) by an odds ratio of 2.50 (95% CI; 0.77-8.14). There was also an increased risk of cardiovascular death in participants with rheumatoid arthritis by an odds ratio of 1.99 (0.58-6.71). Conclusion The study suggests that rheumatoid arthritis along with joint inflammation can also affect the cardiovascular system. We report a rare case of spindle cell rhabdomyosarcoma (SC-RMS) who presented to us with testicular torsion features. A 20-year-old male presented initially with lower urinary tract symptoms and features of epidiymo-orchitis, which was managed conservatively. He later presented with features suggestive of testicular torsion and underwent orchidopexy. The patient developed postoperative urinary retention. On per-rectal examination, there was gross prostatomegaly. He was evaluated with a trans-rectal biopsy and contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT). Subsequently, he was found to have metastatic prostatic SC-RMS, which is a rare disease. He was started on chemotherapy and radiotherapy. However, no existing study has systemically investigated the effectiveness of SK and other hydroxynaphthoquinone natural derivative monomers on UC.
In this study, mice were treated with SK and its derivatives (25 mg/kg) and mesalazine (200 mg/kg) after DSS administration daily for one week. Disease progression was monitored daily by observing the changes in clinical signs and body weight.
Intragastric administration natural single naphthoquinone attenuated the malignant symptoms induced by DSS. SK or its derivatives remarkably suppressed the serum levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines while increasing the inflammatory cytokine interleukin (IL)-10 . The N-protein interacts with viral genomic RNA and helps in packaging. As SARS-CoV-2 spread to almost all countries worldwide within 2-3 months, it also acquired mutations in its RNA genome. Therefore, this study was conducted with an aim to identify the variations present in N-protein of SARS-CoV-2. Here, we analysed 4,163 reported sequence of N-protein from United States of America (USA) and compared them with the first reported sequence from Wuhan, China. link3 Our study identified 107 mutations that reside all over the N-protein. link3 Further, we show the high rate of mutations in intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) of N-protein. Our study show 45% residues of IDR2 harbour mutations. The RNA-binding domain (RBD) and dimerization domain of N-protein also have mutations at key residues. We further measured the effect of these mutations on N-protein stability and dynamicity and our data reveals that multiple mutations can cause considerable alterations. Altogether, our data strongly suggests that N-protein is one of the mutational hotspot proteins of SARS-CoV-2 that is changing rapidly and these mutations can potentially interferes with various aspects of N-protein functions including its interaction with RNA, oligomerization and signalling events.Grazing by large herbivores is increasingly used as a management tool in European nature reserves. The aim is usually to support an open but heterogeneous habitat and its corresponding plant and animal communities. Previous studies showed that birds may profit from grazing but that the effect varies among bird species. Such studies often compared bird counts among grazed areas with different stocking rates of herbivores. Here, we investigated how space use of Konik horses and Highland cattle is related to bird counts in a recently restored conservation area with a year-round natural grazing management. We equipped five horses and five cattle with GPS collars and correlated the density of their GPS positions on the grazed area with the density of bird observations from winter through the breeding season. We found that in the songbirds of our study site, both the overall density of bird individuals and the number of species increased with increasing density of GPS positions of grazers. Correlations of bird density with horse density were similar to correlations with cattle density. Of the eight most common songbird species observed in our study area, the Eurasian Skylark and the Common Starling had the clearest positive correlations with grazer density, while the Blackbird showed a negative correlation. Skylarks and Starlings in our study area thus seem to profit from year-round natural grazing by a mixed group of horses and cattle.Studies evaluating the health status and characteristics of free-ranging wildlife populations are scarce or absent for most species.
