Three Wheeled Buggies
Three-wheeled buggies are great for strolling around the neighborhood or jogging. Their compact design makes them easy to manoeuvre even in tight spaces.
If you want a smooth ride with your pram, choose models with 360deg front wheels with swivel. However, they are more prone to punctures, so be prepared with an repair kit.
Sturdy frame
New figures show that three-wheeled buggies that were the emblem of the noughties, which were more expensive than common sense, are in a steep decline. Four-wheelers have replaced them, which are more flexible and simple to drive and look elegant.
The larger the wheels are the better your buggy will cope with bumpy surfaces and uneven pavements. The larger wheels on both the front and back also makes it easier to maneuver and more stable when walking downhill or over difficult terrain.
MFM reviewer Kath tried this buggy on a newborn baby and a 3-year-old child and found it extremely robust. It was able to handle grass, cobbles and rough pavements, as well as dirt tracks and kerbs. She said that it felt sturdy to push, and very stable on difficult terrain. The tyres, that are inflated and require to be pumped regularly they have suspension built-in. This was extremely comfortable for my kids.
The size and shape of the seat is another aspect to consider. It is important for the seat to be big enough for your child to feel comfortable and allow them to lie down. Some three-wheel buggies offer an option to lie flat completely while others allow the parent to be facing one.
A great option for those who want to tackle off-road and muddy walks is the Roma Atlas. This buggy is ideal for a single child from birth and can be modified to accommodate two children as your family grows. It is suitable for infants and toddlers from birth until age 4. It comes with a bumper, raincover, an improved 5-point harness, and a big padded seat. The storage options are excellent too, with a decent-sized basket, zip pockets on the hood, and an easy-to-access pouch on the back of the seat unit.
Larger wheels
Larger wheels mean that your buggy will be more stable on rough terrain - ideal for buggies designed for off-road use. They also make it easier to maneuver the pushchair in tight spaces. Many three wheeled buggies have the front wheels that swivel to help you navigate around tight corners, while others are designed for running and have fixed front wheels that lock to improve the speed and stability with which they can be driven. This is particularly useful when you bump against a tree or a kerb. The front wheel will lift slightly to prevent hitting it.
A lot of 3 wheel pushchairs have air-filled tyres, which means they can handle many different terrains and are much more flexible than 4-wheeler. They're also lighter. They are also more susceptible to punctures, so you will need to have repair kits and an spare inner tube on hand.
Our top three-wheelers include the Mountain Buggy Core and Venicci Carbo Lux. According to MFM's Kath, have larger wheels which she claims "perform well on gravel roads, grass and market town cobbles" and are able to climb or descend kerbs. They also have a suspension system which in her words "smoothes out bumps with great efficiency".
The downside of having bigger wheels is that they make some buggies quite broad and can struggle to fit through narrow spaces. This can be an issue especially if you're using it to a jogger or you need to to get through narrow doorways when out and out and about. Luckily, most models have small folding options that allow you to remove the front wheels to make compact storage.
Easy to manoeuvre
A three-wheeler can be easier to maneuver with a child. The way they are built means that the front wheels spin on a dime and are really easy to manoeuvre which makes them perfect for difficult terrain like cobbles, parks or bumpy pavements, as well as dirt tracks.
MFM reviewer Kath tried out a three-wheeler with her infant and toddler and stated: "The Terrain was a delight to maneuver on the terrain and the swivel front wheel being particularly helpful. I was also awed by how well it dealt with kerbs using the hand-operated break. https://www.pushchairsandprams.uk/products/hauck-citi-neo-3-lightweight-grey-pushchair found it extremely stable when driving downhill or on uneven ground."
The only downside to this amazing maneuverability is that the larger wheels of the 3-wheel buggy may make it difficult to squeeze into tight spaces. This is something you should keep in mind if your home area is an urban area. If this is the case then a four-wheeled buggy might be the better option for you.
Bumper bar
Bumper bars are a great way to protect your child from scrapes and bumps while out and about. These bumper bars are easy to put in place and will make your child feel secure and safe out and about.
Designed to complement the sleek lines of the sleek lines of your Slim Twin stroller, this bumper bar features a soft and padded surface that offers an ideal place for your child to hold onto when walking. The durable construction and sturdy design ensure that your child can enjoy strolling around town without worrying about falling out of the buggy or leaning too far ahead.
The fabric sling seat sits comfortably inside the frame rather than on top of it like modular seats, delivering the lowest centre of gravity at the ideal height for your newborn and also providing excellent weight distribution for easy kerb pop (it takes much less effort to push a buggy up and over a curb than you think). MFM reviewer Kath said it's excellent on cobbles and grass. It's also a great alternative for running, thanks to its tyres that are filled with air and a lockable swivel wheel.
With a stylish and sophisticated appearance, this bumper bar will surely attract attention wherever you go. Available in a variety of colours and finishes that can be customized to suit your personal style. It features a simple, quick-release mechanism that makes it simple to remove and install the bumper bar as necessary. The bumper bar is also easy to clean as it is constructed of strong materials. This makes it a great option for families seeking a stylish and safe stroller accessory.
Comfort
A 3-wheel buggy provides the most maneuverability and performance when you go off-road. With perfect design, engineering and weight distribution this kind of buggy is able to turn on a dime and be easy to steer using just one hand. Mountain Buggies meet the same rigorous stability standards and tests as 4-wheel buggies.
The seat is made of fabric that is tucked away inside the frame rather than sitting on top like modular seats, the Sport's clever design allows it to have a lower centre of gravity at the right height for your child, giving you a more comfortable push, a lighter curb pop (you don't need the same amount of weight or effort to push the nose of your buggy up and over a curb) and better stability and balance. With 16" rear wheels, the lockable front wheel, and air-filled tyres that allow you to enjoy a smoother, more comfortable jog.
The only stroller that is all-terrain in our collection with a parent-facing seat which can also accommodate the car seat or carrycot, you can future-proof your family to enjoy every adventure starting from the first day, and for years to come!
Kath who was our MFM reviewer, also loved the roominess of the buggy. There's a huge easily accessible basket that's quite spacious for a buggy this small as well as an excellent zip-up pouch on the rear of the seat and two smaller mesh pockets inside the hood to store your keys and phone.
