Albums

The discography of the American rock group Toto includes 13 studio albums, 4 live albums, and a number of compilations. Toto has released original music and collaborated with other artists on soundtracks and films. The group has won multiple Grammy Awards.

Before Toto was formed, members of the band performed sessions for other musicians. David Paich, the son of session drummer Marty Paich, and Jeff Porcaro (the brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro and drummer Jeff Porcaro) all performed on Boz Scaggs’ 1975 album Silk Degrees. The collaboration led to the formation of Toto in 1976.

Turn Back, Toto's third studio album was criticized by critics for not having hit singles. In 1985, the group's lead singer Fergie Fredericksen resigned the group, and they held auditions to choose a new frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the band recorded the 1986 album Fahrenheit.

In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by re-discovering old demos and tapes to release a special edition called Toto XX. The album was well received by fans, and the band embarked on a tour with former members Bobby Kimball, Steve Porcaro, and Joseph Williams.

Shem von Schröck took over Leland Sklar as the drummer during the tour for the 40 Trips Around the Sun album. In the year 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included tour recordings and also an interview with the group.

Leland Sklar replaced him.

Toto has released a variety of music videos. The group has released a number of compilation videos and DVDs. The most watched video by the band is "Africa", with over one billion views. The video takes place in a library and shows the band performing on top of a stack of books about Africa.

Drummer Jeff Porcaro and bassist David Hungate performed on the album Silk Degrees by Boz Scaggs which led to the band's formation. Keyboardist Paich was a regular on records by Steely Dan, Seals and Crofts, and Sonny and Cher.

In 1998, Toto started working on a project entitled Old Is New. The album featured three brand new tracks as well as several finished recordings of songs from the past. The album was a global success and the band toured on tour to promote it.

Toto is famous for their hit song "Africa" The group recently joined forces to promote their upcoming album, All In. The album, which was released on the 6th of November, 2018 included three new tracks from their forthcoming album 40 Trips Around the Sun as also completed recordings of four tracks from the past with Jeff Porcaro playing drums and Mike or Steve Porcaro playing bass. The album also included the cover of Weezer's track "Hash Pipe" that the band decided to include after hearing the song on the radio.
