Toto is the company that makes the elegant Japanese toilets, also known as Washlets. These toilets come with a bidet, heated seat, and deodorizer, among other things.

Before forming Toto the group, its members performed session work for Steely Dan, Seals and Crofts,[4Seals and Crofts,[4] Boz Scaggs, and Sonny and Cher. Guitarist Steve Lukather was the band's leader.

About Toto

The group Toto was formed in 1976 by guitarists Jeff Porcaro and David Paich (who were also well-known studio musicians with Boz Scaggs at the time) and bassist/singer Bobby Kimball. The group's name was derived from a Latin word that translates to "all-encompassing" and was determined to explore all styles of music.

In 1981 the third album by Toto Turn Back was a flop However, they resurface with their fourth release Isolation which contains two hits including the title track and Roseanna. The album and tour make them a household name throughout the world.

After a short hiatus, Toto returns with the album Fahrenheit. It marks a step away from the ballads of their previous albums and includes some heavy rock. The album was their first to be certified platinum in North America.

When they record the band's fifth album the band loses their manager and is faced with financial difficulties. They decide to record a brand new album and change their name with an alternative producer. Joseph Williams, the son of John Williams, the legendary film composer and actress Barbara Ruick from 1950s, is now replacing Fergie Frederiksen as lead vocalist. Joseph Williams is a natural frontman and gives the band much-needed boost.

In 1999, the band released Mindfields and begin an extensive worldwide tour. After a few months in Europe they come to Japan where the shows are sold out. After a short hiatus, Toto resumes their recording and releases their first live album, Absolutely Live in 1993. It also features a cover of Weezer's song Hash Pipe as a response to the band covering Africa on their recent tour. Toto's touring band includes drummer Lenny Castro and bassist Shannon Forrest along with keyboardist Shem Von Schroeck.

After Isolation Toto was put on a absence. The break gave each member of the band the chance to pursue their own solo projects. In 1996, the band reformed for a tour and an album. It was the first time the original members took to the stage together in over a decade.

The following year, Toto toured together with Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band. This was the last time all of Toto's original members were performing at the same time. After that, the group broke up again. Toto reunited for an event benefiting the ALS Foundation in 2010. to raise funds for the ALS Foundation. This was the first time all the original Toto members appeared performing together for over 31 years. In addition to the original members, keyboardist Greg Tambu filled in for Paich and bassist David Hungate filled in for Shem Von Schroeck.
