Questioned CEOs of Major Drug Manufacturers on Rx Drug Affordability

Nearly one out of three Maine adults reports skipping a dose of medicine, cutting pills in half, or not filling a prescription because of cost.

At a recent Senate Health Committee hearing, Senator Collins raised this affordability problem directly with CEOs of major drug manufacturers and questioned them about how to increase affordability for patients without hampering innovation.

Senator Collins has long worked to cut prescription drug costs for Mainers. For example, as a co-chair and founder of the Senate Diabetes Caucus, Senator Collins, along with Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), introduced the bipartisan Improving Needed Safeguards for Users of Lifesaving Insulin Now (INSULIN) Act last year.
