Man has long sought to explore new horizons and to make those new lands easier in which to live. In this sense of making more livable, terraforming is older than history. But now, we turn our eyes to other planets. For more than half a century, humans have pushed beyond the boundaries of Earth, to the Moon, Mars and the remainder of the Solar System. Terraforming Mars is about making the Red Planet livable in the narrowest sense of the word. Here, we explore what it would take to transform Mars so that it is indistinguishable from Earth in as many respects as possible.
