According to Sports Illustrated, the NFL and Peacock are making a substantial amount of money by making the game exclusively available to Peacock subscribers. The estimated figure, reported to be around $110 million, has caused an uproar among fans who are being asked to pay extra to watch a playoff game for the first time in NFL history.
One NFL reporter, Ari Meirov, took to social media to express his skepticism about the decision. “Peacock is paying in the range of $110M to exclusively carry a playoff game,” Meirov wrote in a post on X. “The game they are getting is a Chiefs / Patrick Mahomes game. FWIW: My comment section is not happy.” This sentiment was echoed by countless others who slammed the move and criticized the league for putting profits over fans.
