So.. I am sitting here in the dark on a Friday night at my parents home, in the mountains, watching this indie film called, Plus One (2019). And I realize that this is the exact same relationship I am having with Sachiko. The story about a Japanese girl and a white guy who need to hang out together to be a couple at all the weddings they have to attend so as not to be sitting alone at the singles table. They were friends at university and remain so. Sachiko, this year was pursuing a Japanese hockey player and for unknown reasons it did not work out. This movie is so much like us.
