On March 21, 2023 the Arizona Senate passed S.B. 1367, the Defend the Guard Act, by a vote of 16-13. This bill would prohibit the deployment of the Arizona National Guard into active combat without a declaration of war by Congress, as required by Article I, Section 8 of the United States Constitution.
