Special features like door-to-door dispensers, higher-end ice machines and flex drawers that can be customized make them stand out from the rest.

We consulted Ladina Schopf - interior designer, architect, and founder of LS Projects - for her advice on how to choose the right one. They looked at storage capacity, layout and energy efficiency among other factors.

GE Profile Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

Like the name suggests, the GE Profile series is geared towards those who want to incorporate cutting-edge technology into their kitchen. This fridge has them all, from the Keurig K cup coffee maker inside the door to a smart dispenser of water. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. Given that this fridge costs an extra amount, I'd like to see higher quality.

This fridge is a great choice, despite the blip. It has a large freezer compartment, which is quite uncommon in counter-depth French door fridges, and it holds a fair amount of frozen food when compared to similar models.

The fridge comes with 17 shelves and compartments. The fridge compartment has 18.5 cubic feet, which is standard for a fridge with a French door at this price. It comes with a decent size freezer in the left side. However it's not the biggest one I've seen.

You can adjust the shelves in both compartments to make the perfect storage solution. The GE PYE22PYNFS's design for the interior is attractive, too. The LED lighting is a nice addition, and the in-door storage bins come with an additional shelf that folds up beneath itself to allow you to store items that are tall. The drawers are equipped with temperature controls, so you can set them for Meat, Beverage, or Deli settings. The drawers are easy to shut and open however I found the textured plastic coatings a bit hard on my fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator comes with all the features you'd expect from a refrigerator in this price range. It has Wi-Fi as well as app support, and GE's SmartHQ Software. The app is available for iOS and Android devices and lets you control your refrigerator from anywhere around the world. It also comes with many options for customization. It also sends you notifications when a door is left open, when your fridge or freezer is in need of defrosting, and when it's time to change the filter.

It would be nice if the GE PYE22PYNFS came with Precise Fill which is an option that is available in other GE fridges that allows you to choose how many cups of water you'd like to pour out simultaneously. The fridge shows a countdown to display how much water is left, but it's not as effective as Precise Fill.

Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The Bosch French-door Refrigerator is a stunning piece of equipment. It's designed to appear like it's a seamless component of your kitchen. The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. It also comes with a veggie compartment that keeps fruits and vegetables fresher longer and dual compressors to ensure the best preservation of food. The ice maker is one of the most efficient we've ever tested, and it produces a pyramid-shaped form of ice that is low in water usage. This refrigerator is ideal for a single household or a kitchenette that wants an elegant design and top of the line food preservation.

This fridge was rated as the top in our Refrigerators Test for a variety of reasons. Its freezer temperatures remained constant at just above 0°F and never fluctuated more than a fraction - this is crucial to prevent freezer burn. The refrigerator section of the refrigerator also did well. It reached the temperature it was set within an hour and maintained the temperature throughout our testing.

Bosch has a reputation for premium appliances which is why it's no surprise that this counter-depth refrigerator is also a smart appliance, with the option of connecting to your home Wi-Fi network and Bosch's Home Connect platform. This app allows you to monitor and control the refrigerator remotely using your smartphone or tablet. The refrigerator is pricey, but offers great features and capabilities at a fair price.

It's important to understand the limitations of the fridge. You may need to get creative with tall items because the fridge has a limited shelf space. The shelves are not impervious to spills and could easily be damaged or stained by sharp objects. The trays are easily removed from the refrigerator. However, they must be cleaned regularly to prevent the growth of mold.

LG Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator



The LG LRFLC2706S is a top counter-depth refrigerator that packs a lot of storage space into an extremely compact frame. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. Inside, the fridge features the standard French-door layout, with gallon-sized door bins on each door as well as two rows of spill-capture shelves and a set of crisper drawers. The top shelf on the right can be folded in order to create more space for tall items. There's also a full-width deli drawer and an internal water dispenser.

This refrigerator has a freezer with an ice maker making it simple to transfer frozen ice as needed. The freezer is designed with thoughtful elements, for instance, sliding drawers to help you better organize the position of your items. The doors are another problem with this refrigerator. The handles that are sunken allow smaller people to open them from the bottom. However, taller people still struggle to close them without slamming them. It would have been better if they had handles mounted on the front.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX fridge is a great choice for those looking to combine the look of a French door refrigerator with an efficient design. It has a capacity that is superior to counter-depth models and is able to cool evenly. It's also less expensive than the best counter depth refrigerators that have an icemaker, which makes it an attractive choice.

Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

This Frigidaire French door refrigerator is a good option when you're looking for a French door fridge that won't break the budget. It's a basic fridge which may not be as eye-catching like some of its competitors however, it does have enough features to make a an excellent option. Its most significant feature, the adjustable temperature drawer helps to keep food items such as vegetables and meat fresher for longer. It also comes with a large ice maker and a water dispenser.

Another nice feature is the "Chill Drawer" that sits above the two crisper bins. This drawer lets you redirect some of the refrigerator's cooling power directly into this area, which means you can put away food items that require special attention. This feature can be adjusted using a slider located outside the drawer. You can also adjust the general cooling settings for the entire fridge. I've noticed that the generic settings are more effective than the specific ones.

During my tests, I found that the temperatures in the refrigerator were fairly consistent in different parts of the fridge.
