As the world began to re-emerge and vaccines were beginning to be administered, I felt like grieving for the world. Many have been so hopeful for life to get back to normal and for this notion I felt the sadness creep in, that maybe we have lost the lesson or don't want to face the truths about our planets need for healing, essentially our need to transcend what we have known as normal. I wrote the preliminary lyrics of this song and then got stuck and reached out to a friend and music mentor, John "Milo" Milosich to see if he might want to collaborate with me on the song. Not only did he agree, but stepped up to write the music and add some some poignant lyrics. This planted the seed for my journey to collaborate with other musicians and record the 15 songs I began writing or finished during the quarantine. The video also includes a collaboration between two artists and good friends, Rose Zaeske, who did the sketches of me and Milo seen in the video, and Roger Creus, who created the video, which includes a few of his digital art works. Roger's art, The Gate, is shown in the video, is also this months featured art print for patrons of For the Music & Art tier. I hope you enjoy the song & video as much as I did getting to create it with Milo and that it inspires you to remember that we still have so much transformative work to do in healing this planet and all the living beings upon it.

Singing in the rain tonight...

Shedding Skin

Wicked it shifts left
With the same amount of hate
Algorithms on the web
Already stole your face
But go with the flow
Some kind of safety, we all know
Some kind of world, we never even dreamed of

This is no lie
and there is no time
Only trackers and sleepers
fact checkers and creepers
you should vote for

Yeah I’m a bitch
But I’m also a whore
I got a mystery between my legs
You try to ignore
And it makes me sick
That I still gotta deal with this
And a hard rains gonna fall again and again

Do you wanna sleep?
Seven planets in retrograde deep?
Glazed eyes, down within
Shedding skin, shedding skin.

This song came on the heels of our current Presidents Inauguration, and I was feeling a lot of disparity over it. While the world was doing happy dances to get rid of Trump, I felt sick and disappointed that no one seemed to care, or even know about the sexual allegations from Biden’s former Congressional Aid, Tara Reade, (along with 7 other women’s allegations of misconduct) that came up during his candidacy and were white washed, squeaky clean, in less than a month. It broke my heart that feminist heroes like Starhawk and Ani DiFranco where not just endorsing him without disclaimers, but enthusiastically. To this day, there has been no investigation into Biden’s conduct with any of these women.

Was it that people just cared more about getting rid of Trump, than they cared about replacing one predator with another? …Oh but he is not as bad as Trump, was the general opinion, I am pretty sure Tara Reade doesn’t feel that way. As a matter of fact, she is now working as an advocate for abused women.

Which leads me to the next aspect of this song, and even more the video. When we don’t listen to women, or even take them seriously this is a form of silencing which leads to erasure, both forms of oppression. I have been struggling myself with these concepts, as there are always many agendas that do both and are well endorsed in many communities. When women cannot define their own language or feel free to speak in their own safe spaces, it is terrifying and has effected me personally to the core, that I no longer feel safe to facilitate women’s spaces, speak my truth or even ask questions that they would be met with hate and violence. Instead of mirroring the violence I have turned to art, and to hold love and compassion in my heart. Coming Soon, behind the scenes, original songs and interview with Greg Walker!

Lyrics:
Where are you now my heroes, with the hypocrites?
The truth just a sad, sick, thick
Prick in the office
Doing a dance with this lonely hunch
The collective morality just took a long lunch
In the snow here dear
Ill be holding my own
and I found a truth out here all alone
and although I’m broken
My heart is atoned.

Where are you now my heroes, are you loaded with creed?
I try to speak the truth
but it gets lost in the feed
of their pretenses and calculated acts
and I keep getting blamed for not checking my facts
In the cold snow deep
Im becoming the crone
and I found my truth
and it cuts to the bone
But I feel the good
and my heart is atoned.

I need to rant because the narrative is getting so tired and my brain hurts. Neil Young, as many most likely know, has been making headlines with demands to censor Joe Rogan. I am not particularly fond of Joe but I believe in freedom of speech and that everyone should be allowed the right to use their own critical thinking skills to decipher between what is false or what is a dissenting view point that goes against a popular narrative. Neil was a huge inspiration to me, not just his music, which is brilliant, but also his passion for earth saving missions... which included the 2015 release of The Monsanto Years, with the amazing Lukas and Micah Nelson. An album that challenged the corruption, brought to us by a Monsanto. Remember, back in the day, when we all had it in for big biotech companies poisoning us? So, I don't know what breaks my heart more, that Neil Young sold his music to Hipgnosis, owned by the firm, Blackstone, a company that has its hand prints all over big biotech corporations or that he has the audacity to shut someone else up who is challenging corporations, that less then a decade ago, he himself was protesting against? Either way, it is just sad. While Neil slinks off to bed with new found cronies, I am going to keep on rocking in the free world. End rant.

This is a song I wrote for all of my allies who are brave, for those who feel silenced and for those who are on the fence still trying to figure it all out. This is not a song that aims to antagonize. This is not a song about taking sides. This is not about left or right. This is not about if you are vaccinated or not. This is not medical. This is political. This is a song about liability, transparency & accountability. This is a song about doctors being brave, about taking a stand against corruption, in the media, in the biotech & pharmaceutical industry, in the public health system, in governments around the globe. This is a song about standing for your basic human rights.

If you don’t look, you won’t see.
