Metallo-β-lactamases (MBLs) play a major role in the resistance of Pseudomonas aeruginosa to carbapenems. We investigated the antibiotic susceptibility patterns and frequency of MBLs genes (bla
and bla
) in carbapenem-resistant P. aeruginosa clinical isolates in Sari, Iran.

The isolates were identified using standard microbiological tests, and their antibiotic susceptibility pattern was determined by the disk agar diffusion method according CLSI criteria. Phenotypic identification of MBL-producing strains assessed by the combined disk test (CDT). Then, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was used to detect the presence of bla
and bla
genes.

The highest and lowest levels of antibiotic resistance were observed against gentamicin (40%) and piperacillin-tazobactam (13%), respectively. Besides, 40 isolates (40%) had the multi-drug resistant (MDR) phenotype, while 5 (12.5%) MDR isolates were resistant to all antibiotics tested. The results of the CDT showed that among 43 carbapenem non-susceptible clinical isolates of P. aeruginosa, 33 (76.74%) isolates were MBL-producing strains. Also, the frequency of the bla
gene among 43 carbapenem non susceptible isolates was determined to be 6.97%, while none of these isolates carried the bla
gene.

Due to the high prevalence of carbapenem-resistant and MDR P. aeruginosa in this study, routine antibiotic susceptibility testing and phenotypic identification of carbapenemase production by this bacterium are necessary for the proper selection of antibiotics.

Onychomycosis, also called tinea unguium, is a common fungal infection affecting the nails. After dermatophytes, Candida species are recognized as second-line pathogens responsible for this infection. The treatment of onychomycosis requires a long time and is associated with high rates of recurrence. Antifungal medicines conjugated with gold (Au-NP) nanoparticle are the possible platforms for the reduction of drug resistance.

In the present study, we reported the in-vitro antifungal activity of itraconazole (ITZ) - Au conjugates, time-kill studies, and biofilm-producing ability of six ITZ-resistant C. glabrata.

3-(4,5-Dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-Diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) quantitative results revealed that four out of six resistant isolates studied able to form biofilms in vitro. ITZ-Au conjugates were more effective than ITZ or Au nanoparticle alone, and the time-kill tests pointed to the suitable effect of ITZ-Au conjugate.

The present study concluded that ITZ-Au conjugates have an inhibitory effect on the biofilm of resistant C. glabrata isolates. Further studies are needed to compare the ex-vivo onychomycosis model.

Dermatological disorders are cutaneous infirmities which are frequently occurring and increasing at an alarming rate. These range from mild itching/redness (dermatitis) to fatal skin cancers and has posed a major health concern. Azadirachta indica A. Juss (commonly known as neem), a member of Meliaceae family, is an Indian medicinal plant which has been known for its health promoting effects since ancient times.

The review highlights the traditional practices, pharmacological aspects, and formulatory approach of neem for the treatment of dermatological disorders. Further, recent patents and novel delivery systems (developed and in pipeline) improving skin delivery and therapeutic profile of neem are discussed.

Its main characters are represented by relapsing and remitting mucosal inflammation, starting in the rectum and typically extending continuously proximally through part or the entire colon. UC pathogenesis depends on multiple factors, such as genetic predisposition, defects in the epithelial barrier, dysregulated immune responses, and environmental causes. The most frequent symptoms are abdominal pain, weight loss, mucus discharge, bloody diarrhoea, incontinence, nocturnal defecations, fever, and anemia. Existing therapies for UC include 5-aminosalicylic acid (5-ASA) and its derivatives, steroids, immunosuppressants and biological drugs. However, limited efficacy and unwanted adverse effects hardly limit these strategies of treatment. In the last decades, research studies have been driven towards complementary and alternative medicines for the treatment of UC. Various nutraceuticals have exhibited promising results in modulating intestinal inflammation meanwhile improving symptoms. These compounds possess a wide spectrum of positive health effects evidenced by in vitro studies, characterized by their involvement in antioxidant defenses, cell proliferation, and gene expression. The present review analyzes the available data about the different types of nutraceuticals and their potential effectiveness as adjuvant therapy of IBD, with particular emphasis to UC.Liver toxicity of quantum dots varies with size, concentration, and other structural as well as experimental parameters. For modeling hepatotoxicity, the eclectic data associated with cadmium containing quantum dots have been used in the creation of quasiSMILES for their representation. The core diameter is normalized for wider applicability and the index of the ideality of correlation is applied to construct the better quantitative features toxicity relationship models. Rabbit hemorrhagic disease (RHD) is an economically important disorder of rabbits, where infection results in severe losses to the meat and fur industries. Our goal was to characterize the RHD virus (RHDV) strains currently circulating in different regions of Egypt.

Fifty rabbits suspected of harboring RHDV from 15 Egyptian governorates were evaluated. Diseased rabbits were identified by clinical signs and postmortem lesions. RHDV was confirmed through hemagglutination assay (HA) and polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Partial sequencing of the
60 gene was performed for genotyping.

From 50 rabbits, we identified 16 cases of RHDV (32%) by HA and PCR, including seven males and nine females. We identified two distinct genotypes through sequencing of an amplified fragment of the virus
gene. One group is composed of those circulating primarily in upper Egypt, which is closely related to the classical G3-G5 virus strains, and the second group, circulating predominantly in lower Egypt, was more closely related to the RHDV2 variant. The overall nucleotide sequence identity ranged from 78.4% to 100%, and identity with the vaccine strains ranged from 78.8% to 91.1%.

This paper presents the results of the studies on "Stimix Zoostim" and "Normosil" probiotics and their influence on fecal microflora, hematologic indicators, immunoresistance, nutrient digestibility, and growth intensity of mother-bonded calves.

The calves of the control group were fed with their basic diet (BD) without "Stimix Zoostim" or "Normosil," whereas the calves of the experimental group were fed with their BD supplemented with "Stimix Zoostim" and Normosil." For 10-20-day-old calves, the daily dose was 10 mL per head, whereas 21-90-day-old calves received 15 mL of probiotics per head per day. The calves of the experimental group were administered probiotics every day. Calves aged 10 to 60 days received probiotics with milk, and then at the age of 61 to 90 days, received probiotics with water. (This is a sequential process. At 60 days old, calf rearing with milk stops, and after that, we use probiotics added to water to rear them). Both groups were administered probiotics twice a day, specificallyd a positive effect on nutrient digestibility, growth, and forage consumption. link2 The economic benefit per animal was 149.23 and 157.0 rubles, respectively.

Water is the most important nutrient for the production of healthy livestock. Water scarcity bottlenecks livestock production in arid and semi-arid regions, particularly during the dry season. link3 This study aimed to assess water availability and quality for small ruminants, and to identify major challenges of meeting their water requirements in two major small ruminant production systems in Jordan.

Transhumant and sedentary production systems in the Northern Badia region of Jordan were the focus of this study. A questionnaire was distributed to 120 sheep and goat farmers (62 transhumant farmers and 58 sedentary farmers) and a water quality assessment was completed.

Results showed that the two production systems varied their water source use seasonally. Water provision was perceived as one of the major constraints for Bedouins, particularly during the dry season in transhumant production systems, when longer distances to water sources and the high costs of fetching water daily aggravated the problem. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of layer flock tumor disease in Lower Egypt during the period of 2018-2019 and to undertake molecular characterization and determine the genetic diversity of all identified viruses.

Forty samples were collected from layer chicken located in six governorates of Lower Egypt during the period of 2018-2019. Samples were taken from tumors in different organs. Tumor tissues were identified by histopathological sectioning and then further confirmed by a reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction. Finally, genetic evolution of
virus (ALV-J)
gene was studied.

All the study samples were negative for Marek's disease virus, reticuloendotheliosis virus, ALV (A,B,C and D) and 20 samples were positive for ALV-J in backyard in six governrates. Sequencing of ALV-J
gene was performed for six representative samples (one from each governorate), and they were found to be genetically related to prototype virus HPRS-1003 (identity percentage 91.2-91.8%), but they werethogenicity of recently detected ALV-J strains.
Food of animal origin such as milk is vital for nutritional security and should be free of any antibiotic residues due to its public health significance. We designed a study aiming to determine the occurrence of antibiotic residues and in further levels of oxytetracycline residues in pooled raw milk samples from Palakkad district, Kerala.

We collected pooled raw milk samples were collected from Alathur, Chittoor, and Palakkad blocks of Palakkad district, Kerala. A total of 215 samples were screened for antibiotic residues by microbial inhibition assay (MIA) and the positive samples were subjected to enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) to determine oxytetracycline residues, this was further confirmed using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).

We found that out of the 215 pooled raw milk samples screened for antibiotic residues using MIA, 22 samples (10.23%) were positive for antibiotic residues from Palakkad, Kerala. Out of these 22 samples, five (2.33%) were positive for oxytetracycline .
Global trend to remove the antibiotic growth promoter (AGP) from animals contributes to the exploration of successful measures to sustain production and reduces the intestinal diseases in the post-AGP era. Plant extracts, therefore, have been used to improve performance and intestinal health. Here, we conducted a study to evaluate the effects of neem (
) leaf extracts (NLE) as alternatives to AGPs in broiler chickens.

Sixty day-old broiler chicks were assigned to 12-floor pens, each stocked with five birds and divided into three treatment groups of four pens per treatment. The groups were Negative control, basal diet without additives; positive control, basal diet with antibiotics and vitamins; and NLE treated group, basal diet supplemented with 0.1% aqua extract of neem leaves.

Overall feed intake was significantly (p≤0.05) highest in the positive control. Higher body weight, higher dressing percentage, and lower feed conversion ratio were observed in birds treated with NLE compared to the negative control group (p≤0.05) but not the positive control group (p>0.05). There was no significant variation in hematology between different groups. Furthermore, the economic evaluation indicated that the NLE treatment was found cheaper than control and antibiotic treatment in cost-benefit analysis.

We suggest NLE might be a cheaper alternative to antibiotics in broiler production as indicated by improved body weight and feed efficiency.

Thirty BALB/C male mice were used for wound healing study. In the experimental procedures, wound skin incision was performed at 2.0 cm in length until subcutaneous on the paravertebral of each animal. Under locally anesthetized with procaine cream, the treatment was conducted. All the mice were divided into three groups, the control group (A), zinc oxide cream (B), and
latex (C). The entire surface of the wound was treated for all the groups, and the treatments were performed daily for 15 days. The experiments were stopped on days 1, 7, and 15, respectively.

The histopathological study of tissues revealed significant changes in wound healing effect in
latex compared to the control and B groups.

The role of sexual dimorphic adipose tissue fat accumulation in the development of insulin resistance is well known. However, whether vitamin A status and/or its metabolic pathway display any sex- or depot (visceral/subcutaneous)-specific pattern and have a role in sexual dimorphic adipose tissue development and insulin resistance are not completely understood. Therefore, to assess this, 5 weeks old Wistar male and female rats of eight from each sex were provided either control or diabetogenic (high fat, high sucrose) diet for 26 weeks. At the end, consumption of diabetogenic diet increased the visceral fat depots (p less then 0.001) in the males and subcutaneous depot (p less then 0.05) in the female rats, compared to their sex-matched controls. On the other hand, it caused adipocyte hypertrophy (p less then 0.05) of visceral depot (retroperitoneal) in the females and subcutaneous depot of the male rats. Although vitamin A levels displayed sex- and depot-specific increase due to the consumption of diabetogenic diet, the expression of most of its metabolic pathway genes in adipose depots remained unaltered. However, the mRNA levels of some of lipid droplet proteins (perilipins) and adipose tissue secretory proteins (interleukins, lipocalin-2) did display sexual dimorphism. Nonetheless, the long-term feeding of diabetogenic diet impaired the insulin sensitivity, thus affected glucose clearance rate and muscle glucose-uptake in both the sexes of rats. In conclusion, the chronic consumption of diabetogenic diet caused insulin resistance in the male and female rats, but did not corroborate with sexual dimorphic adipose tissue fat accumulation or its vitamin A status.Gap junctions made by connexins within the adult testis are essential for communication between Sertoli cells and for spermatogenesis. Sertoli cells play an important role in supporting germ cells differentiation and maturation into spermatozoa. Connexin43 (Cx43) is the most abundant and important connexin of the testis. We have shown previously that the expression of Cx43 is being regulated by SOX and AP-1 transcription factors in Sertoli cells. However, additional regulatory elements being able to recruit orphan nuclear receptors may be involved. Since SOX and SF-1 transcription factors have been shown to cooperate to regulate gene expression in Sertoli cells, we wondered if such mechanism could be involved in the activation of Cx43 expression. Thus, the activity of the Cx43 promoter was measured by co-transfections of luciferase reporter plasmid constructs with different expression vectors for transcription factors in the TM4 Sertoli cell line. The recruitment of SF-1 to the proximal region of the Cx43 promoter was evaluated by chromatin immunoprecipitation. Our results indicate that SOX8 and SF-1, as well as SOX9 and Nur77, cooperate to activate the expression of Cx43 and that SF-1 is being recruited to the -132 to -26 bp region of the Cx43 promoter. The PcMab-60 reacted with the PODXL-overexpressing LN229 (LN229/PODXL) cells and MIA PaCa-2 pancreatic cancer cells in flow cytometry but did not react with normal vascular endothelial cells (VECs), whereas one of non-CasMabs, PcMab-47 showed high reactivity for not only LN229/PODXL and MIA PaCa-2 cells but also VECs, indicating that PcMab-60 is a CasMab. We show herein that urolithin A enhances transcriptional actions of 1,25D driven by co-transfected vitamin D responsive elements (VDREs), and dissection of this genomic effect in cell culture reveals 1) urolithin A concentration-dependency, 2) occurrence with isolated natural VDREs, 3) nuclear receptor selectivity for VDR over ER, LXR and RXR, and 4) significant 3- to 13-fold urolithin A-augmentation of 1,25D-dependent mRNA encoding the widely expressed 1,25D-detoxification enzyme, CYP24A1, a benchmark vitamin D target generotective natural product from Indian neem tree that impacts the brain derived neurotropic factor pathway, similarly potentiates 1,25D/VDR-action.Whole slide imaging (WSI) has various uses, including the development of decision support systems, image analysis, education, conferences, and remote diagnostics. These issues are becoming more important as WSI is gaining wider use in clinical practice, particularly with the implementation of artificial intelligence in pathological diagnosis. One of the most important issues is the standardization of color for WSI, which is an important component of digital pathology. In this paper, we review the major factors of color variation and how to evaluate and modify color variation to establish color standardization. There are five major reasons for color variation, which include specimen thickness, staining, scanner, viewer, and display. Recognizing that the color is not standardized is the first step towards standardization, and it is difficult to ascertain whether the appropriate color of the WSI is displayed at the reviewers' end.

Metallo-β-lactamases (MBLs) play a major role in the resistance of Pseudomonas aeruginosa to carbapenems. We investigated the antibiotic susceptibility patterns and frequency of MBLs genes (bla
and bla
) in carbapenem-resistant P. aeruginosa clinical isolates in Sari, Iran.

The isolates were identified using standard microbiological tests, and their antibiotic susceptibility pattern was determined by the disk agar diffusion method according CLSI criteria. Phenotypic identification of MBL-producing strains assessed by the combined disk test (CDT). Then, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was used to detect the presence of bla
and bla
genes.

The highest and lowest levels of antibiotic resistance were observed against gentamicin (40%) and piperacillin-tazobactam (13%), respectively. Besides, 40 isolates (40%) had the multi-drug resistant (MDR) phenotype, while 5 (12.5%) MDR isolates were resistant to all antibiotics tested. The results of the CDT showed that among 43 carbapenem non-susceptible clinical isolates of P. aeruginosa, 33 (76.74%) isolates were MBL-producing strains. Also, the frequency of the bla
gene among 43 carbapenem non susceptible isolates was determined to be 6.97%, while none of these isolates carried the bla
gene.

Onychomycosis, also called tinea unguium, is a common fungal infection affecting the nails. After dermatophytes, Candida species are recognized as second-line pathogens responsible for this infection. The treatment of onychomycosis requires a long time and is associated with high rates of recurrence. Antifungal medicines conjugated with gold (Au-NP) nanoparticle are the possible platforms for the reduction of drug resistance.

In the present study, we reported the in-vitro antifungal activity of itraconazole (ITZ) - Au conjugates, time-kill studies, and biofilm-producing ability of six ITZ-resistant C. glabrata.

3-(4,5-Dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-Diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) quantitative results revealed that four out of six resistant isolates studied able to form biofilms in vitro. ITZ-Au conjugates were more effective than ITZ or Au nanoparticle alone, and the time-kill tests pointed to the suitable effect of ITZ-Au conjugate.

The present study concluded that ITZ-Au conjugates have an inhibitory effect on the biofilm of resistant C. glabrata isolates. Further studies are needed to compare the ex-vivo onychomycosis model.

Dermatological disorders are cutaneous infirmities which are frequently occurring and increasing at an alarming rate. These range from mild itching/redness (dermatitis) to fatal skin cancers and has posed a major health concern. Azadirachta indica A. Juss (commonly known as neem), a member of Meliaceae family, is an Indian medicinal plant which has been known for its health promoting effects since ancient times.

The review highlights the traditional practices, pharmacological aspects, and formulatory approach of neem for the treatment of dermatological disorders. Further, recent patents and novel delivery systems (developed and in pipeline) improving skin delivery and therapeutic profile of neem are discussed.

Its main characters are represented by relapsing and remitting mucosal inflammation, starting in the rectum and typically extending continuously proximally through part or the entire colon. UC pathogenesis depends on multiple factors, such as genetic predisposition, defects in the epithelial barrier, dysregulated immune responses, and environmental causes. The most frequent symptoms are abdominal pain, weight loss, mucus discharge, bloody diarrhoea, incontinence, nocturnal defecations, fever, and anemia. Existing therapies for UC include 5-aminosalicylic acid (5-ASA) and its derivatives, steroids, immunosuppressants and biological drugs. However, limited efficacy and unwanted adverse effects hardly limit these strategies of treatment. In the last decades, research studies have been driven towards complementary and alternative medicines for the treatment of UC. Various nutraceuticals have exhibited promising results in modulating intestinal inflammation meanwhile improving symptoms. These compounds possess a wide spectrum of positive health effects evidenced by in vitro studies, characterized by their involvement in antioxidant defenses, cell proliferation, and gene expression. The present review analyzes the available data about the different types of nutraceuticals and their potential effectiveness as adjuvant therapy of IBD, with particular emphasis to UC.Liver toxicity of quantum dots varies with size, concentration, and other structural as well as experimental parameters. For modeling hepatotoxicity, the eclectic data associated with cadmium containing quantum dots have been used in the creation of quasiSMILES for their representation. Total eight splits are created and the best model is obtained through split 1 with better prediction criteria of validation set objects. Rabbit hemorrhagic disease (RHD) is an economically important disorder of rabbits, where infection results in severe losses to the meat and fur industries. Our goal was to characterize the RHD virus (RHDV) strains currently circulating in different regions of Egypt.

Fifty rabbits suspected of harboring RHDV from 15 Egyptian governorates were evaluated. Diseased rabbits were identified by clinical signs and postmortem lesions. RHDV was confirmed through hemagglutination assay (HA) and polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Partial sequencing of the
60 gene was performed for genotyping.

From 50 rabbits, we identified 16 cases of RHDV (32%) by HA and PCR, including seven males and nine females. We identified two distinct genotypes through sequencing of an amplified fragment of the virus
gene. One group is composed of those circulating primarily in upper Egypt, which is closely related to the classical G3-G5 virus strains, and the second group, circulating predominantly in lower Egypt, was more closely related to the RHDV2 variant. The overall nucleotide sequence identity ranged from 78.4% to 100%, and identity with the vaccine strains ranged from 78.8% to 91.1%.

This paper presents the results of the studies on "Stimix Zoostim" and "Normosil" probiotics and their influence on fecal microflora, hematologic indicators, immunoresistance, nutrient digestibility, and growth intensity of mother-bonded calves.

The calves of the control group were fed with their basic diet (BD) without "Stimix Zoostim" or "Normosil," whereas the calves of the experimental group were fed with their BD supplemented with "Stimix Zoostim" and Normosil." For 10-20-day-old calves, the daily dose was 10 mL per head, whereas 21-90-day-old calves received 15 mL of probiotics per head per day. The calves of the experimental group were administered probiotics every day. Calves aged 10 to 60 days received probiotics with milk, and then at the age of 61 to 90 days, received probiotics with water. (This is a sequential process. At 60 days old, calf rearing with milk stops, and after that, we use probiotics added to water to rear them). Both groups were administered probiotics twice a day, specificallyd a positive effect on nutrient digestibility, growth, and forage consumption. link2 The economic benefit per animal was 149.23 and 157.0 rubles, respectively.

Water is the most important nutrient for the production of healthy livestock. Water scarcity bottlenecks livestock production in arid and semi-arid regions, particularly during the dry season. link3 This study aimed to assess water availability and quality for small ruminants, and to identify major challenges of meeting their water requirements in two major small ruminant production systems in Jordan.

Transhumant and sedentary production systems in the Northern Badia region of Jordan were the focus of this study. A questionnaire was distributed to 120 sheep and goat farmers (62 transhumant farmers and 58 sedentary farmers) and a water quality assessment was completed.

Results showed that the two production systems varied their water source use seasonally. Water provision was perceived as one of the major constraints for Bedouins, particularly during the dry season in transhumant production systems, when longer distances to water sources and the high costs of fetching water daily aggravated the problem. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of layer flock tumor disease in Lower Egypt during the period of 2018-2019 and to undertake molecular characterization and determine the genetic diversity of all identified viruses.

Forty samples were collected from layer chicken located in six governorates of Lower Egypt during the period of 2018-2019. Samples were taken from tumors in different organs. Tumor tissues were identified by histopathological sectioning and then further confirmed by a reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction. Finally, genetic evolution of
virus (ALV-J)
gene was studied.

All the study samples were negative for Marek's disease virus, reticuloendotheliosis virus, ALV (A,B,C and D) and 20 samples were positive for ALV-J in backyard in six governrates. Sequencing of ALV-J
gene was performed for six representative samples (one from each governorate), and they were found to be genetically related to prototype virus HPRS-1003 (identity percentage 91.2-91.8%), but they werethogenicity of recently detected ALV-J strains.
Food of animal origin such as milk is vital for nutritional security and should be free of any antibiotic residues due to its public health significance. We designed a study aiming to determine the occurrence of antibiotic residues and in further levels of oxytetracycline residues in pooled raw milk samples from Palakkad district, Kerala.

We collected pooled raw milk samples were collected from Alathur, Chittoor, and Palakkad blocks of Palakkad district, Kerala. A total of 215 samples were screened for antibiotic residues by microbial inhibition assay (MIA) and the positive samples were subjected to enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) to determine oxytetracycline residues, this was further confirmed using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).

We found that out of the 215 pooled raw milk samples screened for antibiotic residues using MIA, 22 samples (10.23%) were positive for antibiotic residues from Palakkad, Kerala. Out of these 22 samples, five (2.33%) were positive for oxytetracycline .
Global trend to remove the antibiotic growth promoter (AGP) from animals contributes to the exploration of successful measures to sustain production and reduces the intestinal diseases in the post-AGP era. Plant extracts, therefore, have been used to improve performance and intestinal health. Here, we conducted a study to evaluate the effects of neem (
) leaf extracts (NLE) as alternatives to AGPs in broiler chickens.

Sixty day-old broiler chicks were assigned to 12-floor pens, each stocked with five birds and divided into three treatment groups of four pens per treatment. The groups were Negative control, basal diet without additives; positive control, basal diet with antibiotics and vitamins; and NLE treated group, basal diet supplemented with 0.1% aqua extract of neem leaves.

Overall feed intake was significantly (p≤0.05) highest in the positive control. Higher body weight, higher dressing percentage, and lower feed conversion ratio were observed in birds treated with NLE compared to the negative control group (p≤0.05) but not the positive control group (p>0.05). There was no significant variation in hematology between different groups. Furthermore, the economic evaluation indicated that the NLE treatment was found cheaper than control and antibiotic treatment in cost-benefit analysis.

We suggest NLE might be a cheaper alternative to antibiotics in broiler production as indicated by improved body weight and feed efficiency.

Thirty BALB/C male mice were used for wound healing study. In the experimental procedures, wound skin incision was performed at 2.0 cm in length until subcutaneous on the paravertebral of each animal. Under locally anesthetized with procaine cream, the treatment was conducted. All the mice were divided into three groups, the control group (A), zinc oxide cream (B), and
latex (C). The entire surface of the wound was treated for all the groups, and the treatments were performed daily for 15 days. The experiments were stopped on days 1, 7, and 15, respectively.

The histopathological study of tissues revealed significant changes in wound healing effect in
latex compared to the control and B groups.

The role of sexual dimorphic adipose tissue fat accumulation in the development of insulin resistance is well known. However, whether vitamin A status and/or its metabolic pathway display any sex- or depot (visceral/subcutaneous)-specific pattern and have a role in sexual dimorphic adipose tissue development and insulin resistance are not completely understood. Therefore, to assess this, 5 weeks old Wistar male and female rats of eight from each sex were provided either control or diabetogenic (high fat, high sucrose) diet for 26 weeks. At the end, consumption of diabetogenic diet increased the visceral fat depots (p less then 0.001) in the males and subcutaneous depot (p less then 0.05) in the female rats, compared to their sex-matched controls. On the other hand, it caused adipocyte hypertrophy (p less then 0.05) of visceral depot (retroperitoneal) in the females and subcutaneous depot of the male rats. Although vitamin A levels displayed sex- and depot-specific increase due to the consumption of diabetogenic diet, the expression of most of its metabolic pathway genes in adipose depots remained unaltered. However, the mRNA levels of some of lipid droplet proteins (perilipins) and adipose tissue secretory proteins (interleukins, lipocalin-2) did display sexual dimorphism. Nonetheless, the long-term feeding of diabetogenic diet impaired the insulin sensitivity, thus affected glucose clearance rate and muscle glucose-uptake in both the sexes of rats. In conclusion, the chronic consumption of diabetogenic diet caused insulin resistance in the male and female rats, but did not corroborate with sexual dimorphic adipose tissue fat accumulation or its vitamin A status.Gap junctions made by connexins within the adult testis are essential for communication between Sertoli cells and for spermatogenesis. Sertoli cells play an important role in supporting germ cells differentiation and maturation into spermatozoa. Connexin43 (Cx43) is the most abundant and important connexin of the testis. We have shown previously that the expression of Cx43 is being regulated by SOX and AP-1 transcription factors in Sertoli cells. However, additional regulatory elements being able to recruit orphan nuclear receptors may be involved. Since SOX and SF-1 transcription factors have been shown to cooperate to regulate gene expression in Sertoli cells, we wondered if such mechanism could be involved in the activation of Cx43 expression. Thus, the activity of the Cx43 promoter was measured by co-transfections of luciferase reporter plasmid constructs with different expression vectors for transcription factors in the TM4 Sertoli cell line. The recruitment of SF-1 to the proximal region of the Cx43 promoter was evaluated by chromatin immunoprecipitation. Our results indicate that SOX8 and SF-1, as well as SOX9 and Nur77, cooperate to activate the expression of Cx43 and that SF-1 is being recruited to the -132 to -26 bp region of the Cx43 promoter. In this study, we developed an anti-PODXL cancer-specific mAb (CasMab), named as PcMab-60 (IgM, kappa) by immunizing mice with soluble PODXL, which is overexpressed in LN229 glioblastoma cells. The PcMab-60 reacted with the PODXL-overexpressing LN229 (LN229/PODXL) cells and MIA PaCa-2 pancreatic cancer cells in flow cytometry but did not react with normal vascular endothelial cells (VECs), whereas one of non-CasMabs, PcMab-47 showed high reactivity for not only LN229/PODXL and MIA PaCa-2 cells but also VECs, indicating that PcMab-60 is a CasMab. Next, we engineered PcMab-60 into a mouse IgG2a-type mAb, named as 60-mG2a, to add antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC).
