Hope That Holds
Bible in a Year:
2 Chronicles 7–9
John 11:1–29
I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.

Today's Scripture & Insight:

Habakkuk 3:11–19
“I know Daddy’s coming home because he sent me flowers.” Those were my seven-year-old sister’s words to our mother when Dad was missing in action during wartime. Before Dad left for his mission, he preordered flowers for my sister’s birthday, and they arrived while he was missing. But she was right: Dad did come home—after a harrowing combat situation. And decades later, she still keeps the vase that held the flowers as a reminder to always hold on to hope.

Sometimes holding on to hope isn’t easy in a broken, sinful world. Daddies don’t always come home, and children’s wishes sometimes go unfulfilled. But God gives hope in the most difficult circumstances. In another time of war, the prophet Habakkuk predicted the Babylonian invasion of Judah (Habakkuk 1:6; see 2 Kings 24) but still affirmed that God is always good (Habakkuk 1:12–13). Remembering God’s kindness to His people in the past, Habakkuk proclaimed: “Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior” (3:17–18).

Some commentators believe Habakkuk’s name means “to cling.” We can cling to God as our ultimate hope and joy even in trials because He holds on to us and will never let go.

Fresh Air: Focusing on Moments of Fresh Faith - Continual Revival
MAY 27, 2023

And be constantly renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh mental and spiritual attitude].
Ephesians 4:23, AMPC

Recommended Reading: Ephesians 4:20-24
Once upon a time, the word fresh meant “impudent, disposed to take liberties.” Often in old movies, a girl will tell a flirting man he’s “too fresh.” But we don’t live in old movies, and in our mental and spiritual lives we need to stay fresh, full of renewed vigor, revived, and renewed.

That’s the Holy Spirit’s role as we allow Him access to the totality of our heart. Just as nature wakes up after a cold, snowswept winter, just as the sap rises in the trees, and just as seeds sprout and flowers bloom—so should we experience continual revival in our life.

We all long for a global revival, another “Great Awakening.” We pray for that, but we cannot control the seasons God keeps under His own authority. But we do know this—He wants each of us to live in perpetual revival, constantly renewed in the spirit of our mind, keeping a fresh mental and spiritual attitude.

Does that describe you? It should and it can!

The peace of Christ makes fresh my heart, a fountain ever springing! All things are mine since I am his! How can I keep from singing?

Fresh Air: Focusing on Moments of Fresh Faith - Flourishing
MAY 6, 2023

They shall still bear fruit in old age; they shall be fresh and flourishing.
Psalm 92:14

Recommended Reading: Psalm 92
Springtime makes us feel fresh! Fresh flowers, fresh leaves on the trees, the fragrance of fresh air. It’s a kind of rebirth.

The same thing happens for the believer every single day. God gives us a fresh start as we awaken! Psalm 92 tells us to sing His praises and declare His lovingkindness every morning (verses 1-2). As we begin each day with worship, keeping our eyes on Him, the Lord keeps us fresh with a renewed spirit, an excited faith, a hopeful heart, and a smile. It’s a lifelong experience.

The ruts and routines of life have a way of dragging us into the zone of mediocrity. But remember: “The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bear fruit in old age; they shall be fresh and flourishing” (verses 12-14).

Flourish in your faith today by keeping your eyes on Him.

Fresh faith is compelling. It’s clean and crisp like the beginning of a new day…. Freshness comes by staying whole with God…. Middle age and old age aren’t for complaining, but for proclaiming the goodness of God.

In October 2020, Swiss lawyer Michael Lusk wrote an article on his LinkedIn page urging that, in the wake of the coronavirus “pandemic,” Deagel’s 2025 Forecast be given serious attention. Lusk’s article focused on the economic well-being of people comparing citizens of NATO and non-NATO countries.
Based on Deagel’s Forecast 2025, Lusk wrote: “In Deagel’s [ ] image of 2025, Russia flowers while Europe is ruined. Deagel signals that Great Britain [ ] is to be ruined most comprehensively.” https://expose-news.com/2023/05/02/deagel-depopulation-2025-on-track/
