Family Sues After Teen Suspended for Saying “Illegal Aliens” in Class

A high school student from North Carolina has taken a stand against illegal immigration by suing his school district for violating his First and Fourteenth Amendment rights. Christian McGhee, a 16-year-old student at Central Davidson High School, was suspended for three days last month for using the term “illegal aliens.” McGhee’s story has gained national attention as he fights back against the school district’s decision to censure him for expressing his views.
The Liberty Justice Center, a non-profit litigation firm dedicated to protecting constitutional freedoms, announced on Tuesday that it was taking on McGhee’s case. According to the group, the incident that led to McGhee’s suspension occurred during a classroom discussion. When his teacher used the word “alien,” McGhee asked for clarification, asking if the term referred to “space aliens, or illegal aliens who need green cards?” Despite causing no disruption in class, school administrators determined that McGhee’s question constituted a “vicious racial slur” and suspended him for three days.
This swift disciplinary action against a student simply asking a question has sparked outrage and raised concerns about censorship on school campuses. The Liberty Justice Center’s lawsuit against the Davidson County Board of Education alleges that the board violated McGhee’s rights to free speech and due process by suspending him without allowing him to appeal the decision.

Buck Dougherty, an attorney with the firm, argued that by suspending McGhee, the school board violated his constitutional rights. Not only was the teen not allowed to appeal his suspension, but he was also subjected to bullying and threats upon returning to school. As a result, his parents pulled him out of the school, and he is now completing his semester through a homeschooling program.

NY Rep Elise Stefanik May Be Censured for Referring to J6 Defendants as “Hostages”

(NationalUSNews.com) — On Wednesday, January 17, New York Democrat Representative Dan Goldman announced that he will be introducing a resolution to censure House GOP Conference Chair Elise Stefanik over comments she has made regarding the January 6 defendants, who are sometimes referred to as insurrectionists or rioters. She referred to them as hostages, which echoes the attitude of many Americans who consider them to be political prisoners.
In his statement, Goldman said that Stefanik’s use of the term hostage was disrespectful to those prisoners being held by Hamas in Gaza right now. He also suggested that her language about the events of January 6, 2021, indicates a betrayal of her oath of office and provides support for those imprisoned for their actions that day. He also accuses her of trying to stop the certification of the 2020 election. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries would seem to agree, as he commented on Stefanik’s words only last week, saying that she should be ashamed of herself.

What is conscience? God has put within each one of us something that cries aloud against us, whenever we do that which we know to be wrong. Conscience is the detective that watches the direction of our steps and decries every conscious transgression. Conscience is a vigilant eye before which each imagination, thought, and act, is held up for either censure or approval.

I believe there is no greater argument for the existence of God in the world today than conscience. There is no greater proof of the existence of a moral law and Lawgiver in the universe than this little light of the soul. It is God’s voice to the inner man. Conscience is our wisest counselor and teacher, our most faithful and most patient friend.
