Aluminum tubes were utilized as electrodes in a concentric manner to minimize the concentrations of 113400 mg TDS/L, 65623 mg TSS/L, and the ions of 477 mg HCO3/L, 102000 mg Cl/L and 5600 mg Ca/L presented in real oily wastewater under the effect of the operational parameters (the applied current and reaction time) by making use of the central composite rotatable design. Adults aged ≥18 years, living in an IDP camp, able to perform brisk walking, and who scored ≥10 on a depressive symptoms subscale were recruited. The intervention group received an 8-week ACD dance intervention and two 1-h psychoeducation sessions on stress management; the controls only received the psychoeducation sessions. Outcomes were depressive symptoms, stress, and anxiety. Data were collected at baseline (T0), immediately after the intervention at week 8 (T1), and at week 12 (T2) at the post-intervention and follow-up session. A generalized estimating equation was used to test the effects of the ACD intervention, with a 0.05 significance level. Results 198 IDPs completed the study (ncontrol = 98; nintervention = 100). The intervention group reported significantly greater improvements in depressive symptoms (v = 0.33, p less then 0.001) and stress (v = 0.15, 0.008) than did the control group. Conclusions ACD could be a valuable complementary intervention in health promotion but more research is needed.
The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic is an international public health threat. This study aimed to evaluate COVID-19-related knowledge, preventive behaviors, and risk perception among Saudi Arabian medical students and interns.

This cross-sectional study was conducted among fourth- and fifth-year medical students and interns between June and August 2020 at three colleges of medicine in Qassim Region, Saudi Arabia. A previously validated questionnaire was distributed as an online survey.

The total mean knowledge score was 12.5/15 points; 83.9% achieved a high score. The mean score of self-reported preventive behavior was 8.40; 94.1% achieved a high score. The overall mean risk perception score was 5.34/8 points; 31.6% achieved a high score.

Medical students assessed in this study displayed sufficient knowledge and preventive behaviors regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and an average level of risk perception. Lower scores by younger medical students suggest that they must improve their COVID-19 knowledge and risk perception, as they are a potential source of health information in their communities.

A quantitative research method was adopted in this study through the administration of questionnaires to local stakeholders (chiefs, the youth, farmers, traders, fishermen/fisherwomen and residents of affected communities). Quantitative data was collected from three communities in the Niger Delta with local refineries and the data was analysed using descriptive and inferential (Chi Square and Correlation) methods. The study demonstrates the high impact of the activities of the refiners on farmlands and fishing areas of the host communities and makes recommendations to all stakeholders in the upstream and downstream sectors of the petroleum industry. Unpublished primary data for height and sitting height were collected from 805 individuals of both sexes. Data were pooled in cohorts according to age and year of measurement. Additionally, the analysis included comparison with published data from both national and international populations.

Among males, a noteworthy decrease of the cormic index is perceived from the first to the last camps, while in females this is only seen for the group under 11 years old. With data from published Spanish references (1900-2019) a decrease is observed for the male series but is not evident for females. This was a prospective study. An ampicillin dose of 22.2 mg/kg (mean dose) was administered once intravenously. Blood samples were obtained at timed intervals (just before administration, 1, 2, 4, 12, and 24 hours), analyzed using high-pressure liquid chromatography followed by pharmacokinetic analysis of the plasma drug concentrations.

Peak ampicillin concentration (mcg/mL; 97.07 (36.1) vs 21.3 (50.26)), P<.001 (geometric mean (coefficient of variation, CV%)), half-life (hours; 5.86 (56.55) vs 0.97 (115.3)), P<.001) and AUC (h × mcg/mL; 731.04 (83.75) vs 33.57 (53.68)), P<.001) were greater in azotemic dogs than in healthy dogs. Patients with locally recurrent rectal cancer (LRRC) frequently present with either synchronous metastases or a history of metastases. This study was conducted to evaluate whether LRRC patients without metastases have a different oncological outcome compared to patients with a history of metastases treated with curative intent or patients with potentially curable synchronous metastases.

All consecutive LRRC patients who underwent intentionally curative surgery between 2005 and 2017 in a large tertiary hospital were retrospectively reviewed and categorized as having no metastases, a history of (curatively treated) metastases or synchronous metastases. Patients with unresectable distant metastases were excluded from the analysis.

Of the 349 patients who were analysed, 261 (75%) had no metastases, 42 (12%) had a history of metastases and 46 (13%) had synchronous metastases. Despite the evidence for the benefits of the promotion of dance interventions on psychological health, supporting information is needed to outline the benefits of an African Circle Dance (ACD) intervention for IDPs in Africa. Methods A quasi-experimental design (pre-/post-test) was employed. Two IDP camps were randomized into the intervention group (psychoeducation and ACD intervention) and the control group (psychoeducation). Adults aged ≥18 years, living in an IDP camp, able to perform brisk walking, and who scored ≥10 on a depressive symptoms subscale were recruited. The intervention group received an 8-week ACD dance intervention and two 1-h psychoeducation sessions on stress management; the controls only received the psychoeducation sessions. Outcomes were depressive symptoms, stress, and anxiety. Data were collected at baseline (T0), immediately after the intervention at week 8 (T1), and at week 12 (T2) at the post-intervention and follow-up session. A generalized estimating equation was used to test the effects of the ACD intervention, with a 0.05 significance level. Results 198 IDPs completed the study (ncontrol = 98; nintervention = 100). The intervention group reported significantly greater improvements in depressive symptoms (v = 0.33, p less then 0.001) and stress (v = 0.15, 0.008) than did the control group. Conclusions ACD could be a valuable complementary intervention in health promotion but more research is needed.
The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic is an international public health threat. This study aimed to evaluate COVID-19-related knowledge, preventive behaviors, and risk perception among Saudi Arabian medical students and interns.

This cross-sectional study was conducted among fourth- and fifth-year medical students and interns between June and August 2020 at three colleges of medicine in Qassim Region, Saudi Arabia. A previously validated questionnaire was distributed as an online survey.

The total mean knowledge score was 12.5/15 points; 83.9% achieved a high score. The mean score of self-reported preventive behavior was 8.40; 94.1% achieved a high score. The overall mean risk perception score was 5.34/8 points; 31.6% achieved a high score.

Medical students assessed in this study displayed sufficient knowledge and preventive behaviors regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and an average level of risk perception. Lower scores by younger medical students suggest that they must improve their COVID-19 knowledge and risk perception, as they are a potential source of health information in their communities.

Micropropagation affords researchers and producers methods to rapidly propagate insect-/disease-/virus-free clonal plants and store germplasm and forms the basis for other biotechnologies. Despite this need, research in the area is limited due to the long history of prohibitions and restrictions. Existing literature has multiple limitations many publications use hemp as a proxy for drug-type Cannabis when it is well established that there is significant genotype specificity; studies using drug-type cultivars are predominantly optimized using a single cultivar; most protocols have not been replicated by independent groups, and some attempts demonstrate a lack of reproducibility across genotypes. Due to culture decline and other problems, the multiplication phase of micropropagation (Stage 2) has not been fully developed in many reports. Ten adolescents from diverse cultural backgrounds attended Camp "Sababa" in 2017. All the participants and parents signed an informed consent form, responded to a demographics questionnaire, and participated in in-depth interviews and focus groups. Phenomenological analysis revealed three themes, reflecting the chronological sequence of rehabilitation (1) coping with emotional and physical scars, (2) formulating coping strategies, (3) belonging to a group, and (4) implications of camp experience.

Social participation engendered a feeling of safety and trust, enabling adolescents to share their burn experiences, and thus cope better with the physical and emotional challenges of their injuries. Participation in camp activities strengthened their confidence and social bonding; and their return to typical adolescent behaviour while at camp, and ultimately in the community.

The positive results suggest that burn camps should be part of the rehabilitation process of adolescents with burn injury, with emphasis on challenging, age-appropriate activities, and peer group participation.

gastric cancer patients frequently develop peritoneal metastases (PM) with a poor long-term prognosis. A solid body of evidence underlines the beneficial role of cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) on survival, but to date, there is a lack of consensus regarding the optimal strategy in the treatment of locally advanced primary tumors with or without peritoneal metastasis. The present meta-analysis aims to assess the impact of CRS+HIPEC on survival analyzing the results of randomized studies only.

A systematic review of articles was conducted according to PRISMA guidelines. Twelve studies were included in qualitative and quantitative analysis.

A survival benefit for patients treated with CRS+HIPEC at all time points was highlighted. However, difference in survival was significant at all time points for patients treated for prophylaxis of PM, but no difference was found when considering resection with a curative intent. The 1, 2, 3 and 5-year survival rates (SR) for patients undergoing CRS+HIPEC were 86.9%, 70.5%, 63.7% and 55.7% respectively. CRS+HIPEC for the treatment rather than prophylaxis of PM was the only predictor of a reduced 3y SR.

People with mental health conditions frequently attend primary care centres, but these conditions are underdiagnosed and undertreated. The objective of this paper is to describe the model and the findings of the implementation of a technology-based model of care for depression and unhealthy alcohol use in primary care centres in Colombia.

Between February 2018 and March 2020, we implemented a technology-based model of care for depression and unhealthy alcohol use, following a modified stepped wedge methodology, in 6urban and rural primary care centres in Colombia. The model included a series of steps aimed at screening patients attending medical appointments with general practitioners and supporting the diagnosis and treatment given by the general practitioner. We describe the model, its implementation and the characteristics of the screened and assessed patients.

An observer with optimal full-state feedback characteristics for estimating the state variables and unknown dynamics is presented. Unlike other observers that need to know the frequency characteristics of the system, the pole of the proposed observer is determined automatically in a LQR formulation and the observer stability is also inherently ensured. In order to suppress the unknown internal dynamics, the proposed observer is then applied to the control design leading to an observer integrated backstepping control method. The proposed method does not depend on the detailed mathematical model of the system while the stability of the closed-loop system is guaranteed. The stability of the closed-loop system is proven in the Lyapunov sense. Extensive numerical simulations are presented to validate the proposed method.

We also discuss the interlink mechanism of these three factors in AD.The Pistoia criterion (PC) is widely used to estimate the failure load of distal radius segments based on linear micro Finite Element (μFE) analyses. The advantage of the PC is that a simple strain-threshold and a tissue volume fraction can be used to predict failure properties. In this study, the PC is compared to materially nonlinear μFE analyses, where the bone tissue is modelled as an elastic, damageable material. The goal was to investigate for which outcomes the PC is sufficient and when a nonlinear (NL) simulation is required. Three types of simulation results were compared (1) prediction of the failure load, (2) load sharing of cortical and trabecular regions, and (3) distribution of local damaged/overstrained tissue at the maximum sustainable load. The failure load obtained experimentally could be predicted well with both the PC and the NL simulations using linear regression. Although the PC strongly overestimated the failure load, it was sufficient to predict adequately normalized apparent results. An optimised PC (oPC) was proposed which uses experimental data to calibrate the individual volume of overstrained tissue. The main areas of local over-straining predicted by the oPC were the same as estimated by the NL simulation, although the oPC predicted more diffuse regions. However, the oPC relied on an individual calibration requiring the experimental failure load while the NL simulation required no a priori knowledge of the experimental failure load.We analyzed the network structure of DSM-IV PTSD symptoms among 2792 help-seeking Central and East African refugees in Kenya exposed to multiple, severe traumatic events and on-going stressors. Our findings highlight the importance of contextual and cultural factors for PTSD symptomatology, and are informative for assessment and treatment among help-seeking refugees.Severe forms of COVID-19 can evolve into pneumonia, featured by acute respiratory failure due to acute lung injury (ALI) and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). In viral diseases, the replication of viruses is seemingly stimulated by an imbalance between pro-oxidant and antioxidant activity as well as by the deprivation of antioxidant mechanisms. In COVID-19 pneumonia, oxidative stress also appears to be highly detrimental to lung tissues. Although inhaling ozone (O3) gas has been shown to be toxic to the lungs, recent evidence suggests that its administration via appropriate routes and at small doses can paradoxically induce an adaptive reaction capable of decreasing the endogenous oxidative stress. Ozone therapy is recommended to counter the disruptive effects of severe COVID-19 on lung tissues, especially if administered in early stages of the disease, thereby preventing the progression to ARDS.Suppressor of cytokine signaling (SOCS1) functions as a negative regulator of toll-like receptor (TLR) induced inflammatory signaling. As silencing of SOCS1 is concomitant with elevated TLR4 levels in glioblastoma, we investigated the effect of TLR4 inhibition on SOCS1 expression. Pharmacological inhibition of TLR4 signaling by TAK242 or its siRNA-mediated knockdown in p53 mutant or wild-type glioma cells resulted in either increased or decreased SOCS1 expression and promoter activity, respectively. Genetic manipulation of p53 indicated that SOCS1 expression upon TLR4 inhibition is dependent on p53 mutational status. Increased SOCS1 level was concomitant with diminished nucleosomal occupancy around p53-binding site on SOCS1 promoter. This altered nucleosomal landscape was accompanied by (i) diminished nuclear H3K9me3 and (ii) increased JMJD2A and Brg1 levels. JMJD2A inhibition or ectopic expression of ATPase-deficient BRG1 prevented TAK242 mediated increase in SOCS1 expression. Recruitment of Brg1-p53-JMJD2A complex on p53 binding sites of SOCS1 promoter upon TLR4 inhibition was concomitant with increased SOCS1 expression in p53-mutant cells.
