Have you seen Take Care of Maya? There was a very promising ruling in this case today. In total, the Kowalski family was awarded more than $261 million. It will never bring their mother back or erase Maya's trauma - but it may make Johns Hopkins and DCF seriously reevaluate how they treat medically complex children and their parents in Florida and sets a precedent for further cases.

The family dropped their suit against the DCF worker (who no longer works for DCF) to pursue this case and have settled with DCF as well.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office released this statement.

160 people were arrested by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Vice Unit during a seven-day undercover human trafficking operation, “Fall Haul 2,” which began on Tuesday, August 30, 2022. PCSO was assisted in the effort by police departments from Winter Haven, Haines City, Lake Wales, Davenport, and Bartow, as well as the Office of the State Attorney 10th Judicial Circuit, State Attorney Brian Haas, members from the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF), and social services organizations: One More Child, Heartland for Children, My Name My Voice, Selah Freedom, and the Children’s Home Society of Florida who provide on-site services to identified or potential trafficking victims.

Those who travelled to provide prostitution services were screened by detectives and the social services organizations to determine if they were being trafficked or exploited by others.

Two trafficking victims, and another five possible victims, were identified. All prostitutes taken into custody were offered services by the social services organizations at the operation. Follow up will be conducted with those who are suspected to be sex-trafficked or exploited.

“The online prostitution industry enables traffickers and allows for the continued victimization of those who are being trafficked. Our goal is to identify victims, offer them help, and arrest those who are fueling the exploitation of human beings (Johns) and those profiting from the exploitation of human beings. Prostitution is not a victimless crime – it results in exploitation, disease, dysfunction, drug and alcohol addiction, violence, and broken families.” – Grady Judd, Sheriff

Some interesting notes from the operation:
• 26 of those arrested told detectives that they are married.
• Detectives charged those arrested with a total of 52 felonies and 216 misdemeanors.
• Criminal histories of everyone arrested included 419 previous felonies and 619 previous misdemeanors. Some of the prior histories include charges for kidnapping, robbery, aggravated battery, and sex offenses.
• 15 of the arrested were from other states and one was from Puerto Rico (Georgia, Michigan, New York, California, Mississippi, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Arizona).
• 16 suspects live in Polk County.
• 12 suspects told detectives they receive government assistance.
• Detectives seized cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, MDMA (Ecstasy), and marijuana, from those arrested during the operation.

DeSantis Strikes Back: Emergency Florida Rule Bars Licenses To Facilities Housing Illegal Aliens

Florida is fighting back against Biden’s border crisis.

A new emergency rule has been issued in Florida which would not allow the renewing or issuing of licenses to facilities that are housing illegal alien children.

Those that have a license and are housing illegal alien children will face strict restrictions.

Epoch Times reported:

TRENDING: Mark Meadows Case Against the Jan 6 Committee May End Up Shutting Down Pelosi's Kangaroo Court

An emergency rule issued by Florida authorities on Friday bars issuing or renewing licenses for any entities that house illegal immigrant children.

Under the direction of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, the state Department of Children and Families (DCF) determined that the resettlement of such children does not meet the term “evidence of need” as defined by state law and amended the state’s administrative code to say as much while cracking down on licenses.

The move is required to protect the health, safety, and wellbeing of all children in the state being cared for by childcare entities, and in the absence of a cooperative agreement between the state and the federal government regarding the illegal aliens, the agency said.

Facilities that are already housing the children will be able to keep housing them but will face stricter regulations.

On top of this, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced a six-step plan to tackle illegal immigration into Florida.

Breitbart reported:

1. Ban state and local agencies from doing business with or providing benefits to any private-sector business or NGO that helps facilitate illegal immigration to Florida.

2. Ban state agencies from renewing state contracts with transportation companies, such as airlines and bus services, that facilitate illegal immigration to Florida.

3. Require private-sector businesses and NGOs, who facilitate illegal immigration to Florida, to provide compensation to the state of Florida to cover all costs that fall on taxpayers.

4. Mandate County and local jails, as well as courts, to collect immigration status data at the time of a suspect’s arrest and conviction. The information would be reported to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

5. Ban Florida officials from providing any discretionary benefits to illegal aliens while state agencies and hospitals will be required to annually report taxpayer-funded expenses for illegal aliens.

6. Add the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity as an enforcer of E-Verify

The Biden Administration was caught sending illegal aliens into Florida.

The Gateway Pundit reported:

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is working with the Florida legislature to find a way to stop illegal migrants from being dropped in his state, according to reports.

DeSantis’ office has announced that the government has sent more than 70 flights of migrants to Jacksonville, Florida.

“Over 70 air charter flights [on] jetliner airliners coming from the southwest border have landed at Jacksonville International Airport,” Larry Keefe, DeSantis’ public safety czar, told the Washington Examiner. “On average, there’s 36 passengers on each of these flights. And that has been going on over the course of the summer through September.”

“We’re in a sad situation of trying to run an investigation. Who is facilitating this travel? How are they getting here? Who are the support people? Who are the sponsors?” Keefe asked, according to the report.
