The Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra has declared a public health emergency in response to growing monkeypox cases.

Current U.S. cases have reached over 6,000.00. During a press briefing last week from HHS, Becerra said that in the coming weeks, 1.1 million doses of the Jynneos monkeypox vaccine will have been made available.

Center for Disease Control and Prevention officials confirmed in a press briefing that 99% of cases have occurred in men who have recently engaged in sexual activities with other men.
