The Moon is sweeping low across the sky tonight as sunrise approaches, appearing with a tint of reddish-brown as it scrapes the horizon. Next to the bright star Vega in the sky directly overhead is ε Lyrae, the Double Double binary star system. The red giants Arcturus and Antares were brightly-visible earlier tonight. Chasing the Moon is a line of planets comprising Pluto, Saturn, Neptune, Jupiter, Mars, and Uranus. Another red giant, Aldebaran, and the planets Venus and Mercury will be rising near the Sun in the eastern sky. Tomorrow will be a Supermoon event for the Buck Moon, when the Moon reaches its orbital perigee and shows its largest appearance in our sky.
